B-TIER | BUILD PRIMALIST MOUNTAIN KING (@ascensionsidekick) | ASCENSION CoA

Build Primalist Mountain King Ascension CoA
Mountain King
Quake Aftershock procs dual-wield stone soldier

Mountain King reads like a dwarven-legend line built from its full tree: Quake pounds the ground on charges, Aftershock procs off auto-attacks, Stone Soldier boosts off-hand damage, and Unyielding Form stacks parry, dodge, and armor.

It's a dual-wielding seismic bruiser that off-tanks on demand rather than a dedicated main tank.

Auto attacks now have a 20% chance to grant you Aftershock, making your next Geode Barrage or Earthquake instant cast and -75% cheaper for 15 seconds.

Retail Feel

Closest retail analog is a Protection Warrior with a Guardian Druid flavor: like a Prot Warrior you fight in melee off Rage that fuels both defensives and hard control (Mountain Hammer's stun plays like Shockwave, Bash's passive auto-attack stun like concussive procs), and King of the Mountain's Strength-into-parry/dodge/haste is your main avoidance lever. Mountain Fury's frontal cone, which hits several enemies and drags them toward you, is the spec's mechanical fingerprint — nothing in retail does exactly this, but it plays like a self-contained gather-and-cleave moment. Earthen Avatar (bonus damage, reduced damage taken, increased attack speed) is a Guardian-Druid-style Berserk/Barkskin cooldown. What's still missing natively is an interrupt and a poison/disease cleanse (the latter only via the class kit's Grove Guardian) — though Protective Roar's missing-health group heal is real utility from its own kit — so it stays a self-sufficient melee off-tank-bruiser rather than a healer or full support.

Why is this spec not rated like the others?

Combat logs rank players by damage output. A tank does not produce meaningful damage — its job is to absorb it.

Its rating therefore answers a different question: is it brought to raids?

21.3%representation
17.4%expected share
×1.22its share

Across 319 fights of mythic and ascended raids with at least 90% of the roster known.

The expected share is what a spec would get if slots were split at random between those competing for them — a tank and a damage spec are not after the same number. Above ×1 it is brought more than its share; below, less.

This rating never exceeds A: it describes what groups choose, not what a specialisation produces. A spec can be strong and rare.
