ENDGAME | PIT PUSH | SPEED FARM DRUIDE
Build Overview
The CATASHRED is an S-TIER Druid build for Season 13 "Lord of Hatred" that pushes
Shred to its maximum by combining the Storm Shred upgrade — which converts every attack into lightning — with the ultimate
Cataclysm on permanent uptime. The core mechanic relies on the "Stormherder" Talisman set: your storm skills no longer consume Spirit but instead consume all of your available Spirit to amplify their damage by up to +40%, with chances for double cast (20%) and triple cast (5%) that generate damage spikes of 50–60 trillion. This is above all an exceptional farming build, capable of clearing Pit 120 at high speed and comfortable against Bosses thanks to the
Aspect of Inner Calm, which sustains your DPS simply by holding
Shred down. Two variants coexist: LIGHTNINGGOD CATASHRED for general farming and Bosses, and FROZEN CATASHRED for pushing in the Gauntlet and the Pit.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Ultra-fast farming — smooth Pit 120 clears
- Permanent storm damage via
Cataclysm on constant uptime, with no cooldown management - Explosive damage spikes thanks to the Stormherder set's double and triple casts (up to 60 trillion)
- Solid survivability thanks to 20 Resolve stacks from the Glynn's Anvil Aspect (80% damage reduction)
- Simple farming gameplay: hold
Shred down and cast
Cataclysm
Cons
- Single-target damage against Bosses is less efficient than focused builds (e.g.
Grizzly Rage) - Depends on two mythic items (
Heir of Perdition and
Shroud of False Death) that are difficult to obtain - Damage spikes are random (depending on double/triple cast) — DPS can feel inconsistent
Recommended Gear
Loot Table
Helm —
Heir of Perdition (mythic): The mythic helm is the offensive cornerstone of the build. Aim for a Greater Affix on Critical Strike Chance — every point here is critical since the
Ring of Starless Skies cannot always compensate. Temper maximum Resolve charges (
Worldly Endurance) to feed the damage reduction from the Glynn's Anvil Aspect.
Chest —
Shroud of False Death (mythic): The build's second mythic provides a block of +200 to all stats, which activates several paragon nodes and ensures your Willpower reaches the thresholds required by
Waxing Gibbous and the rest of the gear. There is no viable substitute here.
Gloves (legendary) — Archdruid's Aspect: These gloves are the primary source of your Critical Strike Damage multiplier and your Vulnerable damage multiplier. Aim for additional ranks to
Shred and a Greater Affix on Critical Strike Damage (
Worldly Finesse). In the FROZEN CATASHRED variant, the role is identical but Maximum Life is preferred over the Vulnerable multiplier for increased survivability in push.
Pants (legendary) — Glynn's Anvil Aspect: This is the key to the build's survivability. With 12 Resolve charges on this slot and 8 on the helm, you reach 20 charges — for 80% total damage reduction. Tempering maximum Resolve charges (
Worldly Endurance) is mandatory. Willpower and Resistance to All Elements complete the defensive profile. These
Pants entirely replace the need to carry
Earthen Bulwark as an active defensive skill.
Boots (legendary) —
Overcharged Aspect: The
Overcharged Aspect amplifies lightning damage and pairs naturally with Storm Shred and
Cataclysm. Temper Movement Speed (
Druid Motion) and keep Maximum Life + Resistance to All Elements. Boots with a Greater Affix on Critical Strike Damage are an excellent bonus if you find them.
Amulet —
Malefic Crescent (unique): The build's essential unique amulet. It provides additional ranks to storm skills and keeps Berserking on permanent uptime — which constantly activates the additional 10% damage during Berserking. Look for a Greater Affix on Critical Strike Damage.
Main Weapon —
Waxing Gibbous (unique): The key shapeshifting weapon of the build. It interacts with the Berserking that
Malefic Crescent triggers. Stack Greater Affixes on Critical Strike Damage and Willpower to maximize your multipliers.
Offhand (legendary) —
Aspect of Inner Calm: This aspect is the answer to the build's weaknesses against single-target Bosses: by simply holding
Shred down without moving, you accumulate a sustained damage multiplier. This is the very definition of comfortable Boss fight gameplay. In the FROZEN CATASHRED variant, the offhand instead carries the
Conceited Aspect (amplified damage while a shield is active).
Rings —
Ring of Starless Skies (mythic) + Thundergod's Blessing (unique): The
Ring of Starless Skies is irreplaceable for its attack speed and Critical Strike Chance. Thundergod's Blessing directly amplifies lightning damage, synergizing with every Storm Shred hit and every tick of
Cataclysm. If you do not yet own this unique ring, an ancestral legendary ring with strong multipliers and the Overpower Aspect is a viable substitute. In the FROZEN CATASHRED variant, Thundergod's Blessing is replaced by Signet of Pelghain to add freezes and increase survivability when pushing the Gauntlet.
Horadric Seal S13
The Stormherder 5/5 set is the fundamental engine of the build. It imposes a simple but decisive rule: your storm skills no longer consume Spirit. Instead, casting a storm skill consumes all of your available Spirit and increases the damage of those skills by 0.5% per Spirit consumed for 2 seconds, up to +40%. The icing on the cake: each cast has a 20% chance to be doubled (with +100% damage) and a 5% chance to be tripled (with +300% damage). It is these random procs that generate the 50–60 trillion spikes shown in clips — and that make
Cataclysm combined with
Lightning Storm a devastating combination when the stars align. The set also activates
Cyclone Armor freely at all times, a non-negligible survivability bonus.
The unique charm equipped is the Cantique d'Airidah, which accelerates Spirit regeneration. Since the Spirit consumed directly determines the power of your storm skills, regenerating faster means recasting sooner at full Spirit — which mechanically increases your average damage over time. Maximize Willpower on your gear to increase your maximum Spirit pool (30 additional via the chosen boon) and therefore the magnitude of each consumption.
Gameplay Tips
The basic rotation is minimalist: activate
Lightning Storm,
Hurricane and
Wolves at the start of combat, then hold
Shred down permanently and cast
Cataclysm as soon as your Spirit is at maximum (or as full as possible).
Cataclysm is available on near-permanent uptime thanks to the "Before the Storm" passive which extends its duration by 4% with every storm skill hit — your only responsibility is to recast it before it expires.
Lightning Storm and
Hurricane are kept active on toggle or reactivated regularly;
Wolves are cast every 10 seconds to maintain the 40% attack speed buff.
Against single-target Bosses, the
Aspect of Inner Calm comes into play: stand still while hammering
Shred and the damage multiplier gradually ramps up. This is the only moment where not moving is optimal — during mass farming, move freely to chain packs.
Blood Howl remains available for Unstoppable and life regeneration when needed. Survivability relies primarily on the 20 passive Resolve charges rather than active defensive skill management, which frees your attention to maximize offensive uptime.
Regarding runes: the "Mooney" and "Q" runes (mentioned in the source) keep
Earthen Bulwark permanently activated, which in turn feeds Resolve charges via the Fortified upgrade of
Earthen Bulwark.
Cyclone Armor activates for free via the Stormherder set — no need to cast it manually.
Skill Tree
The build maxes
Shred to rank 15/15 with the Storm Shred upgrade as the absolute top priority node — it is what converts hits into lightning attacks and drives the entire Stormherder set mechanic.
Cataclysm is ranked up to 13/15 with the "Duration" upgrade (to maintain uptime), "Stormy Weather" (which gives a 20% chance to spawn 2 to 4 dancing lightning bolts, synergizing with the
Electrocution glyph) and "Ferocity" (4 ferocity charges per cast, and enemies are put into a Vulnerable state).
Lightning Storm is ranked to 12/15 with additional strikes.
Earthen Bulwark is maxed at 15/15 with the Travertine upgrade for passive fortification — it is kept active by the runes without you needing to cast it.
Cyclone Armor and
Blood Howl remain at rank 1 (sufficient for their utility effects), while
Wolves and
Hurricane at rank 1 serve as passive buffs. The key node of the tree is the "Before the Storm" passive which extends
Cataclysm indefinitely as long as you hit with storm skills.
Mercenary S13
Subo is the mercenary chosen for this build. His role is exclusively passive and defensive: he is not actively summoned in combat but operates in the background through his support skills. The two allocated passives (
Wire Trap and
Cover Fire) help slow enemies and drop ground effects that facilitate mass clears without interfering with your rotation. This build does not use an active reinforcement mercenary — the survivability setup via the Glynn's Anvil Aspect is sufficient to keep the character alive without needing to pause to summon outside help.
Paragon
The build's five boards are constructed following a coherent thread centered around lightning and storm skills. The starting Spirit board (
Spirit) with the
Dominate glyph provides the fundamental Willpower bonuses needed to maximize the Spirit pool and trigger skill thresholds. Lust for Carnage with
Dominate amplifies damage against crowd-controlled enemies — a permanent situation with
Cataclysm inflicting Vulnerable. Thunderstruck with the
Earth and Sky glyph directly reinforces lightning damage. Constricting Tendrils with the
Electrocution glyph is the distinctive choice of this variant: enemies hit by your lightning bolts or dancing lightning bolts take 20% increased damage, which pairs perfectly with "Stormy Weather" which spawns dancing lightning bolts on every
Cataclysm cast. This glyph outperforms Ancestral Guidance on this build precisely because of the density of lightning generated. Finally, Heightened Malice with the
Keeper glyph closes out the five boards by providing additional damage multipliers — slightly superior to Claw and Fang in this context according to the author's testing.
