LEVELING | ENDGAME | PIT PUSH DRUIDE
Build Overview
After years languishing at the bottom of the tier list,
Shred is finally the dominant skill of Season 13. The Storm Shred build designed by @Zaior is by far the most fun Druid build of the season — and one of the most effective. It speed-runs the Pit 130, deals trillions of damage, and melts T12 Bosses without the slightest resistance. The core mechanic is simple yet devastating:
Shred is transformed into a Storm skill thanks to
Storm Shred, and the Old Mountain charm set amplifies every hit into a Petrify, triggering a 200% damage AoE nuke across the entire area.
What makes this build particularly satisfying is its ease of execution: the essentials come down to pressing a single button. The other skills largely sustain themselves —
Hurricane stays active without effort,
Lightning Storm follows you automatically, and
Cataclysm with the Tectonic node handles Petrifying enemies to activate the charm set bonuses. An accessible, spectacular, and devastatingly effective build.
Pros / Cons
✅ Pros
- Speed-runs Pit 130 — one of the fastest builds of the season
- Trillions of damage thanks to the Old Mountain charm set's 200% AoE nuke
- Nearly "one-button" build —
Shred handles both mobility and DPS - T12 trivial — Bosses explode with no resistance
- Automatic resource generation via
Spirit Howl,
Tibault's Will, and
Malefic Crescent - Extremely fluid and fun gameplay
❌ Cons
- Requires a mythic Horadric Seal to combine both charm sets (Old Mountain + Storm Shepherd)
- The optimal version demands high-end gear
- A few additional skills to keep in mind (
Cataclysm,
Wolves), even if they manage themselves easily
Recommended Equipment
Loot Table
The primary helmet is
Airidah's Inexorable Will, a unique helmet that is particularly powerful this season. Look for a Greater Affix on core skills and critical strike chance, and temper on the maximum number of Resolve stacks — these stacks combine with the
Aspect of Glynn's Anvil to achieve substantial damage reduction. The
Godslayer Crown is the alternative if you don't have the unique helmet.
The chest also takes the
Aspect of Glynn's Anvil with the maximum possible Resolve stacks, complemented by the usual survival stats: willpower, maximum life, resistances, and armor. Gloves receive the Archdruid's Aspect for the critical damage bonus — the goal is to reach 100% critical strike chance to maximize multipliers. The
Pants slot is reserved for
Tibault's Will, a key piece for keeping resources full and permanently feeding the charm set bonuses. Boots prioritize movement speed, even though
Shred itself serves as movement in combat. The
Aspect of Dominance is tempered there to keep Resolve stacks at maximum at all times.
In the main weapon, stack as many damage multipliers as possible and imprint the
Aspect of Inner Calm — it works perfectly when spamming
Shred, because as long as you move with the skill rather than on foot, the bonus stays active. The off-hand weapon carries the Crushing Aspect, for maximum Fortify uptime thanks to
Earthen Bulwark triggered by runes. The amulet is
Malefic Crescent, which automatically triggers
Blood Howl on every shapeshifting proc from
Shred. For rings, choose the
Ring of Starless Skies for its damage multipliers and massive stats — critical strike chance must be maxed there. The second ring is the Dirge of Airidah, which amplifies Storm skill damage and completes the transformation of
Shred into a Storm skill.
Horadric Seal S13
The Horadric Seal is the cornerstone of this build in its optimal version. It allows you to combine the bonuses of the Old Mountain charm set — which Petrifies enemies hit by earth skills to double damage and trigger a 200% AoE nuke — with the bonuses of the Storm Shepherd set that amplifies Storm damage and reduces incoming damage. Without a mythic Seal, lean toward the Storm Shepherd-only version, which remains very strong with a few minor adjustments.
Gameplay Tips
This build is extremely straightforward in practice. Every run begins the same way: first activate
Hurricane, which stays active on its own and weakens enemies to reduce your incoming damage. Then activate
Lightning Storm, which follows you automatically as you move. As soon as
Cataclysm is available, trigger it as a priority — it handles Petrifying enemies through the Tectonic node that grants it earth damage, activating the Old Mountain charm set bonuses for a devastating 200% AoE nuke.
Once those skills are up, spam
Shred continuously to move AND attack simultaneously. The crucial point is to stay mobile via
Shred rather than on foot: this keeps the
Aspect of Inner Calm permanently active — a significant damage bonus. Reactivate
Cataclysm as soon as it comes off cooldown — the Calm Before the Storm boon regularly resets its cooldown, ensuring near-permanent availability. If you need to pull scattered enemies together,
Cyclone Armor handles that. Keep an eye on
Wolves and reactivate them periodically to maintain their attack speed bonus.
Talent Tree
In the Talent Tree, first invest in
Lightning Storm at max rank, with points in movement speed and Additional Strikes to generate more lightning bolts per Ferocity stack. The
Hero of the Storm node keeps
Lightning Storm permanently active. For
Shred, take the healing as well as
Storm Shred — the cornerstone of the build that transforms the skill into a Storm attack — and cast speed for more attack speed. On the defensive side,
Earthen Bulwark (triggered by runes) provides Barrier, Fortify, and Overpower.
Travertine Bulwark adds Resolve and Overpower stacks.
Cyclone Armor contributes to damage reduction through charms and pulls enemies together.
Blood Howl is automated by the amulet and represents the primary source of reserve Resolve.
Wolves provides its attack speed passive,
Hurricane an easy source of weakening, and
Cataclysm is invested for its Ferocity stacks, its damage, and above all its Tectonic node for the earth damage essential to the charm set.
Mercenary S13
The main mercenary for this build is Subo, the usual choice for this type of build. He provides wall-hack vision, a welcome movement speed bonus, and additional critical strike damage — three advantages perfectly aligned with speed-run gameplay.
As reinforcement, choose Aldkin — nicknamed "the weird child" — who periodically grants a damage reduction bonus. A subtle but useful reinforcement for bolstering survivability in high Pit tiers.
Paragon
The Paragon boards for this build are built around maximizing nature damage and core skill damage. The starting board leverages
Fang and Claw for its damage bonus and to boost nearby dexterity and intelligence nodes, meeting the prerequisites for subsequent boards. Insert the
Dominate glyph for additional damage on the
Lust for Carnage board. The third board,
Thunderstruck, brings damage and critical strike chance, with the
Earth and Sky glyph for a massive natural magic damage bonus. The fourth board,
Constricting Tendrils, increases damage against poisoned enemies — an effect that activates automatically through its own nodes. Socket the
Spirit glyph there, which generates significant additive damage and serves as an excellent socket for overflow nodes. Finally,
Ancestral Guidance closes out the progression with more damage, hosting the
Keeper glyph for one final layer of power.
