GUIDE WARLOCK
Build Overview
Moxsy's endgame Warlock Apocalypse build is currently one of the most devastating builds of Season 13, capable of exceeding 300 trillion damage in PIT T12 and beyond. Its principle is simple yet devastating: Apocalypse is a massive AoE explosion that, by default, has a very long cooldown. Thanks to the Annihilation node, that cooldown is removed as soon as you hit at least 20 times with Hellfire skills. The result: Apocalypse is available nearly continuously, every 1 to 2 seconds, permanently clearing the screen.
The true power driver of this build relies on Overpower. The Ritualist Shard grants every ultimate skill bonus damage for each Overpower stack, and increases the explosion size by 10% every two charges. With at least four Overpower charges, additional Sigils are applied to enemies and Volatility stacks up, amplifying damage from Empowered skills up to three times (i.e., +20% each). The
Mastermind shard ensures Hellfire skills are always Empowered and consume 4% of your Maximum Life, but Command Volk fully compensates this cost. By clicking Command Volk constantly, you maintain maximum uptime on Overpower charges and regenerate Wrath at 500%. With the
Banished Lord's Talisman and the Ritualist Shard, this build reaches up to 16 simultaneous Overpower charges, generating an absolutely massive increase in Critical Damage.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Colossal AoE damage — over 300 trillion with endgame gear, exceptional clearspeed
- Near-zero cooldown on Apocalypse thanks to the Annihilation node, permanent on-screen explosion
- Exponential Overpower scaling with the
Banished Lord's Talisman and the Ritualist Shard and
Mastermind shards - Endgame weapon flexibility:
The Grandfather for survivability, legendary weapon for peak raw damage - Capable of comfortably progressing from Mid-game all the way to the highest PIT tiers
Cons
- Fragile survivability without well-affixed gear (resistances, Maximum Life) — high PIT tiers can one-shot you if unprepared
- Strong dependency on Overpower charges — continuously managing Command Volk is mandatory to maintain performance
The Hemat Stone (endgame amulet) is difficult to obtain and requires specific Infernal Hordes runs- Complex rotation and endgame gearing to reach full potential (critical Greater Affixes on multiple slots)
Recommended Gear
Loot Table
Gear progression follows a clear four-step logic. In the Mid-game, equip
Hands of the Worldbreaker on the gloves, a legendary chest piece with
Aspect of the Fortress for survivability, pants carrying
Aspect of Heavenly Strength, boots with
Undying Aspect, and rings with
Vehement Brawler's Aspect and
Tidal Aspect. The amulet carries
Aspect of Inner Calm with two Greater Affixes in Fire damage and Critical Damage. The weapon uses Cremator's Aspect with Greater Affixes on Willpower and Maximum Life.
In Endgame Skulls, the most important piece arrives: the mythic helmet
Heir of Perdition, with a Greater Affix on Critical Strike Chance — it alone accounts for over 40% Critical Strike Chance alongside the
Ring of Starless Skies. The chest becomes
Fleshwrit Carapace, providing Maximum Life, Armor and Resistances. The weapon upgrades to the
Scepter of the Three unique, with several Greater Affixes on Maximum Life, Willpower and slow weapon damage.
In Endgame Chains (PIT PUSH), the final optimization consists of obtaining additional Greater Affixes on the gloves (
Hands of the Worldbreaker) — Critical Strike Chance, Critical Damage, Fire damage, Willpower — and refining the rings with Greater Affixes in Fire damage. The amulet ideally gains an additional Greater Affix in Willpower as well.
The Mythic Build (350T+ DMG) represents the pinnacle of the build. Two options coexist for the weapon:
The Grandfather, a unique mythic sword granting +150% Critical Damage (multiplicative with your existing multipliers) and a massive amount of Maximum Life (~12,000 life) for better survivability — this is the primary recommendation for the majority of players. The alternative is a legendary weapon with Cremator's Aspect, a Greater Affix on weapon damage, Willpower and Maximum Life: it allows you to gain roughly 30 trillion additional damage (360 vs 330 trillion in testing), but at the cost of much lower toughness (~400k toughness vs ~600k with
The Grandfather). Moxsy recommends
The Grandfather for consistent clears. The ultimate amulet upgrade is
The Hemat Stone, obtained through Infernal Hordes by fighting the secret Boss Bartuk: it doubles the effectiveness of Command Volk shards and raises the total Overpower from 10 to 16 charges, representing a considerable damage increase over the Endurant Faith used for survivability. The
Ring of Starless Skies removes the need for Wrath regeneration on affixes, freeing up precious slots for Willpower, Maximum Life, Armor and Resistances.
For boots, the goal in PIT PUSH is to obtain Willpower, Maximum Life, Resistance to All Elements and Movement Speed — boot Resistances were a decisive turning point in the survivability of this build according to Moxsy. On pants, aim for Willpower, Maximum Life, Armor and Resistances. On every defensive piece, maximize Tempering to increase Maximum Life. On rings and the amulet, prioritize Tempering for damage per Overpower stack, targeting 400 whenever possible.
Horadric Seal S13
The build uses the Rite of the Nameless set in a 5-piece configuration for endgame and PIT PUSH. This set offers a direct synergy with the Overpower and Volatility mechanic central to this build. During the Mid-game and Endgame Skulls phase, Endurant Faith is recommended as a survival charm: it prevents any one-shot kill, allowing you to react as a dot by using Nether Step to become immune. For PIT PUSH and the Mythic Build, this charm is replaced by the
Banished Lord's Talisman — whenever you spend 275 of your primary resource, you gain 4 additional Overpower charges, and your Critical Strikes deal 12% additional damage per Overpower stack. With 16 active charges, the Critical Damage multiplier becomes absolutely massive. The Legendary Horadric Seal completes the configuration.
Gameplay Tips
This build's rotation centers on maintaining maximum uptime on Overpower charges via Command Volk. Click Command Volk as soon as the skill is available: it grants 10 Overpower charges (16 with
The Hemat Stone), regenerates your Wrath at 500% and permanently Fortifies you — activation fills your Overpower above the maximum. Volk also pays all life costs tied to active shards, so it is crucial never to leave this ultimate on cooldown.
Regarding Apocalypse itself: thanks to the Annihilation node, every 20 hits with Hellfire skills (Sigil of Chaos, Sigil of Subversion, Umbral Chains, Blazing Scream) resets Apocalypse and makes it immediately available. In a good mass combat situation, this ultimate fires every 1 to 2 seconds continuously. Cast it as soon as it is available — do not wait.
For the Sigil choice on your bar: Sigil of Subversion is recommended by Moxsy for its ability to guarantee Sigils on enemies without RNG, ensuring 100% uptime on the Survivor Damage node, particularly useful against Bosses. Sigil of Chaos remains a valid option (especially for top leaderboard players): it can be cast at range, then Apocalypse is cast inside it, offering more survivability but requiring precise aiming that is difficult on a controller. In both cases, the Hellfire aura from Sigil of Chaos is maintained 100% of the time via Chain Reaction or the passive of the active sigil.
Survivability management in high PIT relies on three pillars: Resistance to All Elements (priority on boots and chest), Maximum Life (on all defensive pieces, including Tempering), and the passive crowd control of Umbral Chains (Wrath Refund + Long Range Slow + Chain Whips), which immobilizes enemies and reduces their damage. If your survivability is high enough, you can drop Endurant Faith to switch to the
Banished Lord's Talisman and move into the Mythic Build. Use Nether Step to escape heavy damage as a dot.
To maximize your damage through Charms: visit the Cube and reroll your set Charms until you get additional ranks to your associated Hellfire skills combined with Resistances. The goal is to compensate for the rank loss of the
Scepter of the Three when switching to
The Grandfather.
Skill Tree
The endgame skill tree revolves around five main skills. Apocalypse is ranked to 15 with the upgrades Double Blast (doubles the explosion), Survivor Damage (bonus damage against enemies under a Sigil) and Annihilation (removes cooldown after 20 Hellfire hits). Sigil of Subversion (rank 15) with Blood Ritual, Cast Range and Sigil of Lava ensures constant Sigil application and slow on enemies. Dark Prison (rank 8) provides Fortify, weakening and a chain aura that amplifies all damage. Nether Step (rank 9) grants mobility and temporary immunity in emergencies. Umbral Chains (rank 15) with Wrath Refund, Long Range Slow and Chain Whips generates Wrath and controls enemies. Sigil of Summons (rank 1) with Summon Succubus completes access to the essential passives of the tree.
Mercenary S13
Raheir is the main Engaged Mercenary for this build. His role is primarily defensive: he permanently Fortifies and absorbs a portion of incoming damage, partially compensating for the Warlock's vulnerability in high PIT. Raheir's
Bastion skill triggers a protective shield in critical situations, helping avoid occasional one-shots. As Reinforcement, Subo is recommended for additional DPS contribution, and Aldkin can be considered if extra crowd control is needed. Check the grid on the right for details on equipped skills and reinforcement.
Paragon
The build uses five Paragon Boards optimized to amplify Overpower, Volatility and Fire damage. The Starter Board hosts the Entropy Glyph (rank 25), which increases Volatility damage bonuses. The Demonic Spicules Board carries the Empowered Glyph (rank 25), crucial for damage per Overpower stack — Moxsy notes this Board is taken to 80 Willpower for the required 40, maximizing the glyph's bonus. The Ritualism Board hosts Hellforge (rank 25), amplifying Volatility and Hellfire skill damage. The Chaos Board hosts Ichor Carapace (rank 25) for durability. Finally, the Pyrosis Board carries Occultist (rank 25), reinforcing Overpower and ultimate skill damage. Additionally, the Eldritch Sight Glyph, used on the Ritualism Board, amplifies damage against Vulnerable targets. The exact node configuration and layout within each Board are visible in the interactive grid below.
