Profane Sentinel Warlock Build Overview
This build, showcased by the Goblin-Inc channel, demolished a Tormented Tier 12 boss in solo self-found with less than 20 hours of playtime — without even finishing the first day of the season. It blasts through levels at top speed, tanks enormous amounts of damage, and deals colossal damage to bosses. Several major Season 14 patches have made it even stronger, but the core mechanic stays the same: Profane Sentinel doesn't benefit from attack speed. Thanks to Brutal Aspect, any excess attack speed that would otherwise go to waste is converted into damage for your Sentinels, at a rate of 3.7 times its value — by far the best aspect in the build.
Hitting 100% attack speed is actually easier than it sounds: a Greater Affix Temper on the weapon already provides 24%, the Chains of Horazon set adds 25% Movement Speed and 25% "free" attack speed, and the Ferocity stacks on the amulet (unlocked through a temper that doesn't make the item non-upgradable) can themselves be converted into over 60% extra damage. With this route, only two attack speed affixes are needed to hit the cap.
Mobility is another strong selling point this season: even with a basic pair of
Footfalls of the Waning World and a non-maxed aspect, Evade cooldown reduction already sits around 1.9 seconds, and will climb past 3 seconds in mythic form. Season 14 also buffed
Fists of Fate: their damage range goes from 300% up to 390% in mythic form, turning their aspect into a flat 90% damage bonus — better than the old ancestral aspect previously used in that slot.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Viable in Solo Self-Found from Tier 12 onward, with only two truly mandatory items
- Doesn't rely on attack speed thanks to Brutal Aspect, freeing up affix slots
- Constantly scaling mobility: Evade cooldown keeps dropping as your gear improves
- Resource is never an issue despite no dedicated generator, thanks to
Seed of Horazon - High boss damage thanks to easily maintained
Crown of Lucion stacks
Cons
- The optimal setup (Seal of the Diamond Mind + Rite of the Nameless) depends on a lucky mythic drop
- Without this mythic seal, Sigil of Summons and the full set remain out of reach
- Requires careful skill chaining to maintain Evade cooldown reduction
Temerity loses its value once the shield is capped, narrowing defensive options down to
Pants
Recommended Equipment
Loot Table
Only two items are truly essential.
Seal of the Ophanim, obtained by defeating a dedicated boss, from a Tree of Whispers cache, or crafted at the Horadric Cube by transmuting a Vile Heart, always rolls with ranks to Profane Sentinel: just reroll the Fire Resistance that comes with it to get a solid item.
Footfalls of the Waning World, notably found in escalating Nightmare Dungeons, always rolls with Movement Speed and Willpower — just reroll the bad starting affix to slot in Evade cooldown reduction, now temperable on unique items.
For the helm, the main setup relies on Seal of the Diamond Mind: this mythic unlocks the fifth set charm slot needed to run Rite of the Nameless with Sigil of Summons. Without this lucky drop, simply swap it for
Godslayer Crown or
Crown of Lucion, and run Dark Prison instead of Sigil of Summons. For the chest,
Aspect of Heavenly Strength lets you wield a two-handed weapon while still gaining substantial damage reduction. On the amulet,
Seed of Horazon converts damage based on your resource — aim for ranks to Demonology skills and Willpower as your base rolls, then Vulnerable damage, Critical Strike damage, or attack speed as extras.
For the rings,
Seal of the Ophanim pairs with Aspect of Calamity (60% Critical Strike Chance) or, if you don't yet have mythic
Fists of Fate, with Crushing Aspect (65% damage) on a regular legendary item. For
Pants, prefer a defensive aspect or
Undying Aspect for the healing rather than
Temerity, whose shield now exceeds 100% even in mythic form. For gems, a Diamond (all resistance) is enough in most cases; switch to a Ruby or Topaz if fire or lightning damage becomes the main threat.
Horadric Seal S14
The Horadric Seal brings together the five charms of the Rite of the Nameless set, rounded out by
Godslayer Crown used as the sixth unique charm (
Crown of Lucion works just as well in that slot). This six-charm setup is only available with a Legendary Seal or Seal of the Diamond Mind, which unlocks exactly the extra slot needed.
Gameplay Tips
Every rotation starts by activating the Chains of Horazon set, which summons your four soul-shard demons and grants a burst of defensive bonuses, including a sizable damage reduction. Cast Metamorphosis (with the Terror Demon upgrade, damage scaling with your HP and Shadow Form charges) first or second: its Domination cost reduction applies to all your skills, including activating the set. If you're running Sigil of Summons (with the Blood Ritual upgrade, which consumes a bit of Life), every recast advances a ritual thanks to Rite of the Nameless — once completed, its 100% damage bonus stays active and summons even more major demons. Since each of your Profane Sentinel itself counts as a major demon, the more you have on the ground, the more damage they deal.
Blazing Scream can stay at rank 1: its job is to reapply a weaken effect to enemies up to three times (roughly 70% total critical strike chance with the base bonus) and to easily maintain six stacks of
Crown of Lucion. On Profane Sentinel, the Narrow Blast upgrade is taken despite its name: in practice, it doesn't noticeably shrink the area of effect but instead adds single-target damage that's very useful against bosses. For Evade (Nether Step with Recall Shadows), keep in mind that casting any skill reduces its cooldown, as does consuming your Shadow Form charges — staying in the set's activation zone regenerates even more. When pushing the Pit or high-tier Towers, swap an extra Nether Step for Tyrant's Grasp: it makes enemies Stealthed, which doubles your Sentinels' damage against them, and it also counts as a major demon for the set's bonus.
Talent Tree
Mercenary S14
Varyana is nearly the mandatory pick for this build: her passive
Taste of Flesh, triggered every time your Sentinels hit an enemy, is your main source of healing — unless you're running
Undying Aspect on
Pants. She also provides a small attack speed bonus.
As backup, Aldkin reduces damage taken thanks to his
Field of Languish. Nothing exceptional, but effective as a complement.
Paragon
The five glyphs used are
Destruction and
Abyssal (the two most important for damage), Attrition (which increases resource recovered from rare nodes and synergizes directly with
Seed of Horazon), Demonologist, and finally
Mastermind, the weakest for damage and therefore leveled last. When running the Sigil of Summons + Rite of the Nameless setup (with Seal of the Diamond Mind), a dedicated board also holds the Ritualism glyph, centered around Sigil of Summons. Without this mythic, that board is simply replaced by another one — the rest of the setup stays the same.
