Diablo 4 Mythics Patch: July 14 Buffs Explained

Big Mythic buffs this Tuesday - Diablo 4 July 14 patch

Article by Kami

A complete overview of the patch notes for this Diablo 4 Mythics patch, scheduled for Tuesday, July 14, has just surfaced ahead of the official release across all platforms. On the menu: a real boost to Mythic items, a season system that's finally worth engaging with, and a list of fixes touching nearly every class. Blizzard already confirmed a Mythics fix a few days ago, here's the full breakdown.

July 14 Patch: More Superior Keys and Pandemonium Fragments

The seasonal reputation board will now be accessible directly from waypoints. No more need to head back to town to collect your rewards, a real time-saver for daily farming.

The Death Toll Chamber, a season mechanic that's been largely ignored so far due to underwhelming rewards, is changing status. It will now guarantee at least one Superior Lair Key on every run.

These keys are used to fight the Pandemonium Threshold boss, which already has a high Mythic drop rate that's being increased even further in this patch. The Death Toll Chamber becomes a step you can no longer skip if you want to score a Mythic item.

  • Seasonal reputation board available at waypoints
  • Death Toll Chamber: at least 1 Superior Lair Key guaranteed per run
  • Corrupted Reaper: 2 Pandemonium Fragments instead of 1 (up to 4 by opening both chests, guaranteed from Torment 12)
  • Mythic recipe cost reduced from 5 to 4 Pandemonium Fragments, a 20% saving

The Corrupted Reaper also gets a major boost. It will now drop two Pandemonium Fragments instead of one, and that number increases with your Torment level. At Torment 12, two fragments are guaranteed per chest, so four in total by opening both chests on a single kill.

These fragments are used to upgrade Mythic items in the Horadric Cube. Good news here too: the Mythic recipe now requires 4 fragments instead of 5, a 20% cost reduction for every upgrade.

Repeatable Glints of Hope, obtained through the reputation board, will also guarantee a Pandemonium Fragment as a reward. They're easy to find during Helltides, making them a reliable source once the patch is live.

A word of advice before rushing to farm these resources this week: hold on to your Pandemonium Fragments and Glints of Hope until July 14. Spending them now would mean missing out on the increased drop rate and the reduced recipe cost brought by this Diablo 4 Mythics patch.

The Bug Blocking Mythic Drops Is Finally Fixed

This Diablo 4 Mythics patch fixes a bug that prevented certain Unique item sources from dropping as Mythics. Lair Bosses were affected. The Mythic drop chance there was already low, and a bug was quietly reducing it even further without anyone really noticing. You should now pick up more Mythics from playing this content.

Second change, and an even bigger one. The chance that a naturally obtained Mythic is an Iconic Mythic is increasing. Iconics include the game's classic items, such as The GrandfatherThe Grandfather, Melted Heart of SeligMelted Heart of Selig, Ring of Starless SkiesRing of Starless Skies, El'Druin Sword of Justice, Harlequin CrestHarlequin Crest, or Heir of PerditionHeir of Perdition.

To put the current rarity into perspective, one player who logged 160 hours this season found only a single Iconic Mythic on the ground: El'Druin Sword of Justice. A few Broken Vows were added on top thanks to gambling on polearms, a fairly reliable method, but no other Iconic dropped naturally in all that time.

The patch doesn't specify a percentage. All we know is that the chance is increasing, without knowing by how much. An efficient player who only farms Lair Bosses for several hundred hours often finishes an entire season without a single Iconic. A marginal increase wouldn't be enough to change the situation.

One thing remains unchanged. You still can't equip two crafted Mythics at the same time via the Horadric Cube. The limit of one such item worn simultaneously is kept despite these adjustments.

These two fixes don't work alone. Combined with the guaranteed Superior Lair Key from the Death Toll Chambers and the extra Pandemonium Fragments, this Diablo 4 Mythics patch could finally solve the rarity problem weighing down this season.

Class Balance: Paladin and Warlock Still Struggling

The current rankings confirm what many feared. The Paladin sits in last place and even struggles to clear Torment 130, a tier that most other classes blow through in speedrun mode. This patch contains no mechanical buff for the class, only a handful of minor bug fixes.

The Warlock shares the same fate. No new power buff on the horizon, only technical adjustments with no real impact on in-game performance.

The Spiritborn isn't getting any fixes either. That's because the class is currently climbing the rankings thanks to a bug affecting Concussive Stomp combined with a specific rune. This combination grants up to 500% extra damage, putting the Spiritborn just behind the Rogue on the Torment 150 charts.

The Rogue remains the most blatant case. The infinite damage bug, present since the Lord of Hatred release two months ago, still hasn't been fixed. The patch only addresses a side issue where Shadow Clone could trigger an extra Sanctuary effect. On the leaderboards, Rogue players clear Torment 150 with only five active skills, wear the tankiest gear possible, and don't even need to use their full kit anymore. This bug has been dragging on for two months, and nothing suggests it will be fixed before the next season.

ClassTier ReachedStatus
RogueTorment 150Infinite damage bug still active
SpiritbornTorment 150Concussive Stomp + rune bug, +500% damage
DruidTorment 150Legitimate performance
BarbarianTorment 145Good performance with no known exploit
SorcererMid-tier rankingOnly one truly competitive build
PaladinStruggles to clear Torment 130Last place, no buff in this patch
WarlockBottom of the rankingsNo buff, minor fixes only
NecromancerBottom of the rankingsLeft out of this patch

The gap between classes is stark. Rogue, Spiritborn, and Druid dominate Torment 150, the Barbarian follows closely at 145, while Paladin, Warlock, and Necromancer remain behind. The Sorcerer holds on thanks to a single genuinely strong build. Beyond this Diablo 4 Mythics patch, a real class balance pass will likely have to wait for the next season.
