WoW Classic Plus Leak: 2 Years of Content, Real or Fake?

WOW CLASSIC + LEAK ?

Article by Kami

Two Classic Plus leaks have set the MMO-Champion forum on fire these past few days, posted back to back. The first comes from a user named IronSeer, the second from someone called bigblizzardbear, with a lot more detail about this potential WoW Classic Plus. Here’s what it says, translated in full below.

The first leak: a post signed by a former member of the Classic Plus team

The post’s author waited a full day before deciding to publish. The risk, he says, is that the info could come back on someone who recently worked on Blizzard’s Classic team. He eventually shared what he knows about the plans for the next few years.

Classic Plus would reportedly be presented as an alternate timeline, tied to the bronze dragonflight. That means a few lore changes along the way. A new zone linked to the Scarlet Crusade would arrive with a weekly quest campaign, roughly two and a half months after launch.

The content would kick off with Deadmines and Ragefire Chasm as the first raid. Same boss mechanics, same loot, but with a different thematic coat of paint. Both would remain playable as dungeons and as a raid, with a few tweaks. Odd detail: Van Cleef and Greenskin would no longer appear in the Deadmines dungeon, which would now end with a tauren boss.

The next patch would introduce Scarlet Monastery as a raid, merging the dungeons into a single piece of content. Then would come a raid in Blackrock Depths, followed by a raid in Blackwing Lair with Molten Core downgraded to a dungeon. Ragnaros wouldn’t be part of it, so no Sulfuras or Thunderfury to loot. Zul’Gurub would be dropped from the schedule entirely, saved for future content.

Next, Stratholme would become a raid, alongside the arrival of the Death Knight class. Karazhan would follow before Naxxramas. As for Ahn’Qiraj, there’s no precise info, but Silithus would reportedly get a much bigger version. The release would be timed for one week after Blizzcon.

So I spent all of yesterday wondering whether I should post this or not. It could come back on someone who worked on the Classic team until recently. But whatever, here’s what I know about what’s planned for the first two years:

  • Classic+ / Camelot is an alternate timeline, bronze dragonflight style. Expect quite a few lore changes.
  • A new zone tied to the Scarlet Crusade with a weekly quest / campaign, about 2 and a half months after launch.
  • Starts with Deadmines / Ragefire Chasm as the first raid. Same boss mechanics and same loot, different thematic coat of paint, faction-locked. Both stay available as dungeons too. Van Cleef and Greenskin no longer in the dungeon, replaced by a tauren boss at the end. Not sure what happens to the missing bosses’ loot.
  • Next patch: Scarlet Monastery as a raid, dungeons merged into a single raid.
  • Then a BRD raid, then a BWL raid with MC as a dungeon. Rag isn’t in it (no Thunderfury or Sulfuras).
  • ZG is set aside, planned for future content.
  • Stratholme raid. Death Knight class available.
  • Karazhan raid before Naxxramas.
  • Not sure of the when or how for AQ, but Silithus is planned as a much bigger zone.
  • Release date: the week after Blizzcon.

On the substance, this plan feels recycled, a bit in the spirit of Season of Discovery or Season of Mastery. A lazy way to generate content, but one that’s still totally believable coming from Blizzard.

The second leak: the massive list detailing two years of content

The forum lit up again with a second post about this Classic Plus, this time signed by a certain bigblizzardbear. Unlike IronSeer’s fairly short message, this one runs for entire pages. Release date, progression system, class reworks, new races, it covers everything.

October 13.

  • 3 new leveling zones + 1 max-level PvP island off the coast of Stranglethorn Vale (works like the Blood Moon from Season of Discovery).
  • No new class, but reworked specializations: Protection and Retribution Paladin, reworked Arcane Mage, added Guardian Druid spec, Shadow Priest works more like in TBC, Demonology Warlock becomes a tank, Survival Hunter goes melee. All classes get new spells from Season of Discovery or more recent versions of the game, plus a few brand-new spells.
  • New race + class combos: Dwarf Shaman, Gnome Priest, Human Hunter, Undead Hunter, Tauren Paladin, Troll Warlock.
  • 2 new races, both reskinned blood elves. The first is a time-traveling elf found lost in the timeways, settled in a new section of the Caverns of Time. The other is an elf clan hidden in the Hinterlands, inspired by Alleria’s look in Warcraft 2, settled at Aerie Peak after an alliance with the Wildhammer dwarves.
  • 4 new dungeons, including the Crypts of Karazhan from Season of Discovery.
  • 2 new raids: the Scarlet Enclave reworked into a level 40 leveling raid, and Timbermaw Hold, a raid with 9 bosses whose entrance is in Azshara.
  • Max-level raids with Normal (20-40 players) and Heroic (20 players) difficulties.
  • Reworked PvP system: ranked arenas down to 1v1 (class-locked), ranked battlegrounds.
  • 2 new battlegrounds, including Azshara Crater reworked in the style of Arathi Basin.
  • Professions reworked for better rewards at low skill levels.
  • A battle pass style system that lasts 6 months, rewards mounts, pets, and titles, with a free track and a paid track.
  • Tons of new quest hubs and new reputations, good rewards but hard to grind.
  • Some zones very heavily modified, Tanaris and the Hinterlands the best examples. The Caverns of Time play a major role in the game.
  • Dalaran comes out of its bubble and becomes a neutral hub for Alliance and Horde (Kirin Tor reputation and daily quests). Not a city where you just sit AFK like in Stormwind, Ironforge, or Orgrimmar.
  • Achievements are back, some with cross rewards into the retail game.
  • All the content will be encrypted, no PTR for upcoming content. No datamining possible.
  • No WeakAuras or other combat-helper addons, like in the retail game. Interface customization inherited from Midnight.
  • Game tagline: « What if the Dark Portal had never reopened? ». Presented at Blizzcon with a cinematic showing Chromie watching players kill Lord Kazzak in the Blasted Lands, preventing the Dark Portal from opening and thus TBC.
  • 3 days of early access with the Epic edition. Release date: October 13, 2026.

Original post by bigblizzardbear, dated July 6, 2026

Three new leveling zones are announced, plus a high-level PvP island off the coast of Stranglethorn Vale. It would reportedly work like the Blood Moon from Season of Discovery. This is clearly the strongest idea in the whole leak.

On the class side, no new playable class but a wave of spec reworks. Protection and Retribution Paladin changes significantly, Arcane Mage is reworked, Druids get a Guardian spec. Shadow Priest would reportedly work more like in Burning Crusade. Demonology Warlock becomes a full-fledged tank, a choice that’s bound to be divisive. Survival Hunter goes melee. All classes get spells already seen in Season of Discovery or in more recent patches.

Bigblizzardbear also details new race and class combinations, plus two brand-new races. Here’s what he lists:

  • Dwarf Shamans, Gnome Priests, Human Hunters, Forsaken Hunters, Tauren Paladins, Troll Warlocks
  • A race of time-traveling elves, found lost in the temporal corridors, settled in a new zone within the Caverns of Time
  • An elf clan hidden in the Hinterlands, inspired by Alleria’s look in Warcraft 2, settled at Aerie Peak after forming an alliance with the Wildhammer dwarves

Both new races would actually be reskinned blood elves. The idea of race-class combos works well, especially since the Horde-shaman-versus-Alliance-paladin asymmetry would stay intact. Forsaken paladins or Alliance shamans showing up would clearly break the entire identity of the factions.

On the PvE side, four new dungeons are planned, including a version of the Crypts of Karazhan taken from Season of Discovery. Two new raids round things out. The Scarlet Enclave, which already existed in SoD, would become a leveling raid accessible from level 40. Timbermaw Hold would get a nine-boss raid, with an entrance near Azshara. End-game raids would offer two difficulties, Normal with 20 to 40 players and Heroic capped at 20. This raid idea holds up, even if the real usefulness of Heroic mode remains to be proven.

PvP would also get a big overhaul, with ranked arenas down to class-locked 1v1, and ranked battlegrounds. Two new battlegrounds are coming, including Azshara Crater turned into a battleground in the style of Arathi Basin. Professions would reportedly be revised to offer better rewards from low skill levels onward.

Another point that stings about this Classic Plus, a battle-pass style system spread over six months, with mounts, pets, and titles up for grabs, in a free version and a paid version. He really doesn’t like this shift. The leak also mentions a huge amount of new quest hubs and reputations to grind, with grind tiers he considers tough. Tanaris and the Hinterlands would reportedly be among the most heavily reworked zones. The Caverns of Time would take a central place in all of this.

Dalaran would reportedly come out of its bubble and become a neutral hub shared between Alliance and Horde, with its own Kirin Tor reputation and daily quests. It wouldn’t be a city where you just stand around doing nothing like Stormwind, Ironforge, or Orgrimmar. It’s genuinely a good idea on paper. Achievements would also be added, some giving cross rewards all the way into the retail game.

On the technical side, all the content would reportedly be encrypted, with no PTR and no possible datamining, a deliberate choice from the design stage. No WeakAuras or addons equivalent to those in the retail game, but interface customization inherited from Midnight.

The tagline chosen for the Blizzcon presentation would reportedly be « What if the Dark Portal had never reopened? ». A short cinematic would show Chromie watching players take down Lord Kazzak in the Blasted Lands, thereby preventing the Dark Portal from opening and, by extension, all of Burning Crusade. A montage would then play before the title screen. The release is set for October 13, 2026, with three days of early access for the Epic edition.

This leak sparks a mix of skepticism and genuine enthusiasm about specific ideas like the PvP island, the Timbermaw Hold raid, or the Dalaran hub. On the other hand, the battle pass and the tank Warlock land less well. The time-travel lore and Chromie’s retcons don’t either. The Heroic difficulty and the scale of the reputation grind also raise questions going forward.

So, are these leaks credible?

This second leak clearly changes things. The first one seemed completely fake from start to finish. This one, on the other hand, holds up on quite a few points. It sounds at least somewhat credible, which is already something given how many fake reports are circulating right now about this Classic Plus.

That doesn’t mean it’s all believable though. In this Classic Plus, it’s hard to picture Tanaris and the Hinterlands turned into starting zones. That’s clearly the point that bothers the most in this whole story.

Still, the real answer won’t come right away. There are still roughly two months to wait until Blizzcon, the event where Blizzard usually lifts the veil on this kind of announcement. In the meantime, the simplest thing is to assume none of it is true, and keep playing quietly while waiting.

This Classic Plus leaves a mixed taste, one plausible leak, another to forget, and a Blizzcon that’s still a ways off. It’s up to you to decide what to take from it.
