Build Overview
Raxxanterax’s Plant Druid is undeniably one of the most powerful and satisfying builds in Path of Exile 2 this Season 4. This « Super Saiyan » version represents the ultimate peak of the build, with sheet DPS jumping from 30,000 to 144,000 – a fivefold increase in raw power.
The gameplay revolves around
Entangle and
Thrashing Vines, two plant skills that create fissures on the ground and summon vines to obliterate everything in their path. Paired with
Cast on Critical triggering
Thunderstorm to automatically apply
Shock, and
Mana Remnants for sustain, the build becomes a true farming machine capable of killing T3 Bosses in seconds.
The Oracle Ascendancy provides exceptional quality of life that Raxxanterax considers hard to beat. With
Headhunter, the build regularly reaches 500,000 DPS on the map after killing a few elites, making all content trivial.
Build Strengths
- Colossal damage: 144k DPS in town, up to 500k+ with
Headhunter on the map. Bosses melt in seconds. - Exceptional survivability: Raxxanterax is level 98 and dies very rarely. Energy Shield combined with overwhelming offense keeps you safe.
- Devastating clear speed: One plant is enough to wipe the entire screen. Maxed T15 maps finish in just a few minutes.
- Infinite scalability: The build continuously improves with better jewels, gems, and gear. No power ceiling in sight.
- Oracle quality of life: The Ascendancy offers comfortable mechanics that Raxx considers the best for this build.
Build Weaknesses
- High cost: The endgame version requires significant investment.
Headhunter alone costs around 34 Divines, and Uul-Netol’s Embrace runs up to 60 Divines. - Unpredictable Shroud Walker: If you steal this modifier from a rare, it can teleport you to the wrong location, which can be frustrating.
- Bosses with odd hitboxes: Some Bosses with strange collision areas can take longer to kill because the plants don’t correctly hit their hitbox.
Gem Setup by Stage
This build offers 3 progression stages from leveling to the final build. Select a stage to view the corresponding gem setup.
Cheap Endgame
5 skills • 27 gemmesExpensive Endgame
5 skills • 27 gemmesMirror Tier
7 skills • 40 gemmesRecommended Equipment
- Weapon (Staff or Wand+Focus): Look for +7 to all spell skills, cast speed, and critical strike chance for spells. Sockets are crucial: Hedge Witch + Sandra’s
Rune of Wisdom gives +1 to all spell skills. - Charms:
Headhunter is the absolute game-changer. When you kill a rare, you steal its modifiers for 60 seconds. With a few stacks, you reach 500k+ DPS. - Gloves: Look for 2 sockets for 8% cast speed and resistances. A
Rune of
Arcane Surge (40% increased effect) is very powerful here. - Amulet: +3 to a skill, rarity, Energy Shield, spell damage. The Throat Seeker instillation or Meticulous Preparation provides massive damage (Acceleration is the budget option).
- Rings: Resistances and rarity for loot. Cast speed would be optimal but is sacrificed for farming efficiency.
- Helmet and Body Armour: High resistances and maximum Energy Shield. Nothing special – just solid defensive stats.
Gameplay Tips
- 21/20 Gems: Invest in level 21
Entangle and
Thrashing Vines gems with 20% quality and 5 sockets. An extra gem level makes a huge difference in PoE2. - Quality jewels: Raxx lost 37,000 DPS by removing his 4 jewels. Look for crit damage, cast speed, plant damage, and max energy shield. A perfect jewel can be expensive but is worth the investment.
- Maximize rares on the map: With
Headhunter, roll your maps for more rare monsters. Use « Abyss has more rare monsters » tablets to maximize your stacks.
Cast on Critical charges faster when you hit hard: The higher your damage, the faster the skill charges. That’s why CoC feels instant on this build.- Adaptive
Mana Remnants: On the budget version, keep Remnant Potency for deferred mana. On the ultra-endgame version, remove it since Bosses die before you ever need the mana.
Headhunter: The Absolute Game-Changer
Headhunter is arguably the most impactful upgrade for this build. When you kill a rare monster, you steal all its modifiers for 60 seconds. Imagine: the rare has « extra fire damage, » « powerful allies, » and other mods – you get all of them.
After killing a few elites in a map, Raxx regularly goes from 144,000 to 500,000 DPS. Monsters literally have no chance. The only downside is the Shroud Walker modifier, which can teleport you toward enemies unpredictably.
At around 34 Divines, it’s a significant investment, but one that completely transforms the gameplay experience. Remember to roll your maps with « extra rare monsters » and use tablets that add rares to maximize your stacks.
Socket and Rune System
One of the secrets behind this build’s power lies in the weapon sockets. Raxx uses Hedge Witch combined with Sandra’s
Rune of Wisdom to gain +1 to all spell skills. This combination pushes his
Entangle to level 33.
On the 2-socket gloves, you can slot 8% cast speed and a
Rune that increases the effect of
Arcane Surge by 40%. A quick note: many people ask why use
Arcane Surge without a visible source. The answer lies in the passive Aspiring Genius, which gives a 10% chance to gain
Arcane Surge on critical strike – and every single hit you land is a crit.
On the expensive version, you can also socket « gain 5% of damage as extra of all elements » for a significant DPS boost.
Thunderstorm and the Shock Mechanic
The build uses
Cast on Critical to automatically trigger
Thunderstorm and apply
Shock to enemies. This adds a 20% increased damage multiplier through
Shock Conduction.
On the budget version, use a level 18
Thunderstorm with
Shock Conduction to guarantee
Shock application. On the expensive version, switch to a level 5
Thunderstorm (level 9 with bonuses) using just
Shock. Why? Because you now have enough lightning damage on your weapon to apply
Shock naturally, and a lower-cost spell means you never run out of mana during long Boss fights.
The Importance of Jewels
Raxx demonstrates the impact of jewels by removing them: his DPS drops from 144,000 to 107,000 – a loss of over 25%. The stats to look for are: crit damage, cast speed, plant damage, max energy shield, and area of effect.
His best jewel, crafted himself and perfectly divined, has damage as extra on two lines plus critical strike chance and cast speed. That level of
Perfection is rare, but even decent jewels at 1-2 Divines each make a noticeable difference. It’s one of the most cost-effective upgrade paths for this build.
Cheap vs Expensive: Understanding the Differences
The planner offers two versions: Cheap Endgame and Expensive Endgame. The budget version uses Rapid Casting on
Entangle and
Shock Conduction on
Thunderstorm. It performs very well and was Raxx’s original 5-Divine build.
The expensive version replaces Rapid Casting with Uul-Netol’s Embrace (around 60 Divines), which converts physical damage to chaos. It also removes Remnant Potency from
Mana Remnants since Bosses die before you ever need the deferred mana.
Raxx’s message is clear: don’t be discouraged if you don’t have premium gear. The build works very well in budget form and scales progressively with your investments.
