ENDGAME | PIT PUSH | PIT 110 PALADIN
Build Overview
This Paladin build by @RageGamingVideos is built around
Zeal, a skill that received major buffs with the Season 14 patch and finally becomes fully competitive. Powered by the Zealot's Oath, the Paladin unleashes a constant stream of hits thanks to an almost permanent movement speed cap, making it an excellent all-around cleaner for general content — Hell Tides, patrols, XP farming — while still holding a respectable score in The Pit up to Torment 12. The author notes he isn't chasing the very top of the Tower leaderboard, but recommends this build to anyone looking for a fast, easy-to-play all-rounder that's especially fun thanks to its raw mobility.
The kit revolves around three pillars: alternating between
Fanaticism Aura and
Defiance Aura to maintain the damage bonus of
Crown of Lucion, stacking Resolve while standing in
Fortress for survival and damage, and the self-sustain provided by
Red Sermon combined with Embattled Aspect.
Strengths / Weaknesses
✅ Strengths
- Nearly permanent movement speed cap: ultra-fast clearing of the open world, Hell Tides and general farming
- Solid survival loop thanks to Fortify, damage reduction and Block Chance stacking tied to Resolve
- Good single-target potential against Lair Bosses despite a generalist orientation
- Relatively accessible setup, with no exotic multiplier to chase
❌ Weaknesses
- Requires a high Cooldown Reduction threshold (55 to 60% or more) to make the Fanaticism/Defiance loop work
- Self-damage from
Red Sermon (
Zeal costs Life instead of Fervor) — trickier survival management - Not the optimal pick for chasing the very top rank in The Pit or the Tower against pure burst builds
- The Paladin remains generally behind on raw damage compared to other classes, even after the Season 14 buffs
Recommended Equipment
Loot Table
Red Sermon is an absolute requirement: this unique two-handed weapon turns
Zeal into a stream of hits that consumes Life instead of Fervor, which unlocks the build's full potential via
Death or Glory. On the helm,
Crown of Lucion adds up to six stacks of damage by leaning on Cooldown Reduction — one of the few ways to get damage on a defensive slot since the recent reworks.
The chest piece benefits from
Aspect of Glynn's Anvil, which converts bonus Attack Speed into extra damage, while the gloves rely on
Aspect of Utmost Glory for a huge multiplier while Healthy (Crushing Aspect remains an alternative if your roll isn't high enough). The
Pants use
Aspect of Heavenly Strength for damage reduction while wielding a two-handed weapon, and the boots run Embattled Aspect, which speeds up Fortify's drain rate to offset the self-damage.
On the amulet,
Aspect of Interdiction converts every stack of Resolve into Block Chance, ideally paired with
Aspect of Redirected Force to turn that Block Chance into massive critical damage. Both rings round out the setup with
The Penitent's Aspect (Critical Strike Chance after spending Life) and
Aspect of the Zealot's Covenant, essential for any Zealot's Oath variant.
Horadric Seal S14
The talisman relies on the
Zealot's Dauntless Faith set at 5/6 slots, which grants a massive damage multiplier for Zealot skills along with an afterimage visual effect. Prioritize charms with bonus ranks to
Zeal, then resistances, Maximum Life and core stats as secondary priorities. The sixth slot takes a unique charm of your choice:
Blood-Mad Idol pairs perfectly with the build's self-healing to turn its downside into a damage bonus, while
Griswold's Opus remains the pure-DPS alternative if your survivability is already covered. The Legendary seal rounds things out with an extra unique charm slot, a requirement to fit all six charms of the set.
Gameplay Tips
The gameplay boils down to charging in and spamming
Zeal non-stop, weaving in
Consecration for extra damage and
Condemn to generate Vulnerable. Then drop your ultimate
Fortress and stay inside it to stack up to 30 stacks of Resolve, your main source of damage and survival.
On the helm,
Crown of Lucion requires juggling between
Fanaticism Aura and
Defiance Aura: cast the first, wait until just before the 6-second charge runs out, cast the second, and keep alternating in a loop so you never lose your stacks. This rotation requires a minimum of 55 to 60% Cooldown Reduction — without that threshold, you're better off dropping this damage bonus for a third defensive slot. Finally, make sure to dodge or move at least every 2 seconds to keep triggering
Relentless, your main source of extra movement speed and Cooldown Reduction.
Talent Tree
The tree pours every point into a handful of key skills.
Zeal is maxed with
Weaken,
Additional Strikes and
Cull the Wicked, which widens its reach and adds 25% extra damage against Weakened targets — meaning every target hit by the build. Thanks to
Red Sermon, you also get
Death or Glory, which forces
Zeal to consume Life instead of Fervor.
Fanaticism Aura and
Defiance Aura are maxed with their defensive and offensive upgrades, while a single point in
Rally triggers automatically every 6 seconds thanks to the 3-piece Dauntless Faith set bonus.
Condemn and
Consecration only get one point each for their passive bonuses (Vulnerable, Cooldown Reduction, Fortify), and the rest of the points go into
Fortress, which becomes your main source of damage and survival thanks to its Resolve-based bonus.
On the class mechanic side, the Zealot's Oath turns your
Zealot skills into Fervor generators: every critical hit triggers an echo that repeats part of your damage, and maximum Fervor grants extra Fortify to offset
Red Sermon's self-damage.
Mercenary S14
Raheir is hired as the main mercenary for his defensive stance
Bastion, which absorbs 90% of the damage aimed at nearby allies for 5 seconds, backed up by
Ground Slam for crowd control. The passives
Raheir's Aegis (+15% Resistance to All Elements) and
Inspiration (extra damage against targets hit by his skills) further boost the group's survival.
As backup, Aldkin brings
Field of Languish, which reduces damage taken by affected targets by 20% — a real plus for holding your own in Torment 12. If you're after more offense instead, Varyana and her Attack Speed bonus remain a viable alternative.
Paragon
The starting board begins with the
Resplendence glyph, which reduces the cooldown of non-aura skills every time you cast an aura skill — ideal for keeping
Fortress up as often as possible. The Relentless board adds the
Spirit glyph, surrounded by Willpower nodes to boost your critical hits, along with several Cooldown Reduction nodes essential to the Fanaticism/Defiance loop.
On the Preacher board, your
Zealot skills gain Attack Speed and damage tied to it, and the
Sentinel glyph adds up to 45% extra damage at maximum Resolve (30 stacks) — at the cost of missing out on bonuses tied to Juggernaut skills, which aren't used here. The Castle board leans on armor with the
Feverous glyph, which boosts
Zealot damage per stack of Fervor, and the final Fervent board combines damage and Critical Strike Chance per stack of Fervor with the
Chip glyph for physical damage — the author reaches nearly 100% Critical Strike Chance this way.
Resolve Stacking & Block Chance
The build's entire defense revolves around Resolve stacked by standing inside
Fortress. Each stack fuels both your damage (the
Sentinel glyph and Fortress's own bonus) and your Block Chance thanks to
Aspect of Interdiction on the amulet. That Block Chance in turn becomes a source of massive critical damage via
Aspect of Redirected Force, which doubles its bonus every time you actually block an attack — a cascading system that turns a defensive mechanic into an offensive multiplier.
Runes, Gems & Survivability Tweaks
On the weapon, favor Skulls for the physical damage multiplier, and Rubies on the rest of your gear for Strength — round it out with Diamonds on the slots where your elemental resistance is lowest. For runes,
Gar grants 10% Critical Strike Chance if you're lacking that stat elsewhere. For very hard content (Torment 12, high-level Pit), the author instead prefers a defensive combo built around
Mot and a Druid barrier rune to absorb damage spikes — a pairing that's hard to beat once your margin for error gets thin.
