LEVELING | ENDGAME | PIT PUSH | SPEED FARM BARBARIAN
Build Overview
The
Hammer of the Ancients (HotA) Barbarian build stands as one of the most devastating builds of Season 12, directly rivaling the best Paladin builds. Capable of pushing Pits beyond tier 115, obliterating T5 dungeon Bosses, and farming at insane speed with infinite leap, this build is a true versatile powerhouse.
Le concept repose sur l'empilement massif de Furie grâce au combo
Melted Heart of Selig +
Ramaladni's Magnum Opus.
The
Walking Arsenal system guarantees permanent coverage of three different weapon types, providing Attack Speed, damage multiplier, and permanent Unstoppable. Combined with the
Sabre of Tsasgal that rewards using multiple offensive skills, the full rotation transforms this Barbarian into an absolute destruction machine.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
- Colossal damage through Fury stacking and the Selig/Ramaladni combo
- Extremely tanky in Low Life setup with near-immortality
- Versatile: excels in Pit/Dungeon push, bossing, and speed farming
- Smooth and accessible gameplay despite the strategic depth
Weaknesses
- Requires
Melted Heart of Selig to reach full potential - Reaching 0 Fury with Selig equipped means instant death
- More limited mobility without Chain Flail in push setup
Recommended Equipment
Table de Loot
Helmet: Crown of Lucion
The most powerful helmet in the build with its 7 charges providing a 205% bonus damage multiplier. Alternatively,
Heir of Perdition has the advantage of not rolling maximum Life, which is ideal for the Selig setup. In both cases, prefer a non-ancestral version and do not Masterwork it to minimize Life.
Chest: Mantle of Mountain's Fury
The irreplaceable cornerstone of the build. The additional ranks to
Hammer of the Ancients combined with the Double Damage bonus when Earthquakes explode make this piece absolutely central to all damage mechanics.
Gloves: Inner Calm
Further boosts
Hammer of the Ancients while providing Cooldown Reduction and Attack Speed. The stationary bonus synergizes perfectly with the ranged HotA playstyle, where you spam from a fixed position.
Pants: Tibault's Will
The optimal offensive choice for pushing with its Maximum Resource bonus that directly feeds
Ramaladni's Magnum Opus and its 20% bonus damage multiplier. For speed farming, regular boots with Fury per second help offset Selig’s passive drain.
Boots: 100,000 Steps
Automatically triggers
Ground Stomp via
Walking Arsenal, generating Earthquakes effortlessly through the
Aspect of Earthquakes. This combo keeps the
Mantle of Mountain's Fury multiplier permanently active. Alternative: rare boots with Fury per second if you prefer to secure your Selig drain.
Weapons
The build leverages the Arsenal system with a two-handed mace carrying the
Aspect of Ancestral Force to transform HotA into devastating AoE, a two-handed sword with the
Aspect of Earthquakes, and the
Sabre of Tsasgal +
Ramaladni's Magnum Opus dual wield combo. Each weapon serves a precise role in the
Walking Arsenal rotation.
Jewelry
Melted Heart of Selig as an amulet is the late-game pivot of the build, converting your Fury pool into an effective life bar.
Aspect of Anger Management ensures permanent Berserk (watch out for the 3 Fury/second drain), and
Ring of Starless Skies reduces the cost of Core skills while boosting damage.
Build Variants
The build features five progressive variants: Starter, Ancestral, Mythic, Push, and Speedfarm.
Starter and Ancestral
Before obtaining mythics, the build relies on runes
Moni and
Tec to carry the early game. The priority is to maximize Fury and stack ranks of
Hammer of the Ancients as fast as possible. Stack Life normally at this stage — the Low Life setup only activates once
Melted Heart of Selig is equipped.
Mythic (main variant)
The core of the build, detailed throughout this guide. This is where the Low Life combo is set up with
Melted Heart of Selig and
Ramaladni's Magnum Opus. The 6 active skills are
Hammer of the Ancients,
Frenzy,
Mighty Throw,
Ground Stomp,
War Cry, and
Call of the Ancients.
Push
To push the highest tiers in Pit and Dungeon, the Push variant replaces
War Cry with
Steel Grasp to group monsters and accelerate Boss stagger.
War Cry is then auto-cast via the
Ohm rune. The push rotation requires using
Frenzy every 3-4 seconds to maintain the Enhanced node and
Belligerence.
Speedfarm
The speed farming setup uses Chain Flail for infinite leap — as long as Leap is your only Brawling skill, its cooldown resets instantly. Combined with Gaer Crown that pulls all enemies on screen with each leap, you clear Nightmare Dungeons in 90 seconds. The key: never equip any Brawling skill other than Leap (no Charge, no Kick).
Bloodied Affixes (Season 12)
Season 12 Bloodied items add bonus affixes to your gear. For this build, prioritize: Carnage (armor) — Movement Speed (1 roll), main Core stat and Attack Speed (max 1 roll). Gluttony (weapons) — Berserk (preferred) or Chain Hook (alternative). Hunger (jewelry) — Experience gained according to preference.
Gameplay Tips
Skill Rotation
Walking Arsenal may seem intimidating with its three weapon buffs, but in practice it's very simple.
Frenzy and
Mighty Throw function as additional shouts you press approximately every 15 seconds — no need to hit an enemy with
Frenzy, just cast the skill into thin air using the "hold position" button.
The main rotation consists of spamming
Hammer of the Ancients at a safe distance toward enemies. Ground Earthquakes automatically explode every 5 seconds thanks to the
Walking Arsenal +
100,000 Steps +
Aspect of Earthquakes combo, maintaining the massive
Mantle of Mountain's Fury multiplier.
Arsenal System
Make sure to correctly assign your weapons:
Hammer of the Ancients uses the two-handed mace by default,
Frenzy the dual wield, and
Mighty Throw must be manually assigned to the two-handed slashing weapon. For technique, choose the for x15% bonus damage while Healthy and x15% Lucky Hit Chance.
Fury Management with Selig
With
Melted Heart of Selig, your Fury pool IS your life bar. If it drops to zero, you die instantly. Always keep an eye on your gauge and use
Call of the Ancients as soon as it's available — the Ancients generate Fury with every attack. The
Elixir of Resourcefulness II is essential for passive regeneration.
Advanced Tips
NEVER stack maximum Life with Selig equipped — this includes Paragon, gear, and masterworks. The lower your Life, the more resistant the build becomes (Selig's paradoxical mechanic). For pieces like
Crown of Lucion that have forced Life, prefer non-ancestral versions and do not Masterwork them. Regular Overpowers are provided by the
Xan rune.
Arbre des Talents
Mercenaire
Paragon and Glyphs
The Paragon system follows a classic progression but with one critical rule: absolutely avoid Life nodes if you are using
Melted Heart of Selig. Instead, stack Maximum Resource, especially on the Warbringer board which offers rare nodes that boost Fury via the
Might glyph.
The priority glyphs are
Might,
Wrath,
Crusher,
Challenger, and
Revenge. Level them to 15 first (radius 3→4), then to 46 for maximum radius (4→5). Progress through the Pit to upgrade them. Fortify comes from the
Warbringer board and activates damage and damage reduction bonuses from the skill tree.
Walking Arsenal System
Walking Arsenal is the key passive that orchestrates the entire build. It requires using three different weapon types (Bludgeoning, Slashing, Dual Wield) to activate its three simultaneous buffs: Attack Speed, damage multiplier, and permanent Unstoppable. With Ghost Walker boots equipped, Unstoppable also permanently grants Unhindered.
Each buff has a 15-second timer. In practice,
Hammer of the Ancients (Bludgeoning) is spammed constantly, so this buff never falls off.
Frenzy (Dual Wield) activates with a single press without needing to hit an enemy.
Mighty Throw (Slashing) also provides a long-duration Attack Speed buff and can trigger bleeds via the sword. The
Sabre of Tsasgal rewards every offensive skill used — with 5 to 6 active skills (including
Call of the Ancients and
Ground Stomp), the multiplier reaches its maximum.
Low Life Combo: Melted Heart of Selig
The central paradox of the build: the less Life you have, the more resistant you are.
Melted Heart of Selig converts incoming damage into Fury drain. With very little maximum Life (~300 HP) but a massive Fury pool (600-800+), Selig's redirection absorbs nearly all damage without your Fury visibly moving. Result: approximately 6000 effective resistance, sufficient for Torment 4 content and T5 Bosses even in Hardcore.
