The best WoW Forever addons
Checked in their files and on CurseForge, sorted by use, with the right file to download. And above all, the list of the ones that no longer work, so you don't lose an evening staring at an empty interface.
Forever runs on the Midnight Retail client: Classic addons won't load. The combat log is closed to addons: pick the "-forever" file, install BugSack and turn on the Cooldown Manager. Read moreCollapse
Forever does not run on a Classic client. It runs on the Midnight Retail client, the one used by modern WoW, with its own interface number: 16001. An addon written for Classic (Auctioneer, AdiBags, Quartz…) simply won't load.
Midnight's rules apply too. The combat log (the feed of everything happening around you) is closed to addons, and some values become "secret" in combat: health, threat, auras, enemy spells. As a result OmniBar, BigDebuffs and WeakAuras are dead, and an addon marked "compatible" may do far less than it used to.
The right habit: on CurseForge, our links open the list already filtered on "WoW Forever" (if a link leads to the addon's general page, filter it yourself). Check the file date and take the one ending in -forever when there is one.
- Install BugSack + BugGrabber. They catch the Lua errors (the language addons are written in) from badly ported addons instead of throwing them in your face mid-fight. Forever version 12.1.7.
- Turn on Blizzard's Cooldown Manager. Options › Gameplay Enhancement. It is off by default, and it replaces a good part of what WeakAuras used to do.
- Not sure? Check the date. A file older than Midnight (early 2026) has very little chance of working. And everything moves with every beta build (new client version).

ClassicUI Forever
Brings back the Classic interface: gryphons, round minimap, stone frames (settings with /fcui).
Don't combine it with DarkMode: conflicts have been reported.
Details · Interface & bars · by justawower
Since the client is Retail, the interface is modern by default. ClassicUI gives you the Classic one back: gryphons, round minimap, stone frames. Modular, with settings under /fcui.
Good to know: Don't combine it with DarkMode: conflicts have been reported.
Bartender4
Action bars built your way: count, size, position, paging by stance or form.
Details · Interface & bars · by Nevcairiel
Action bars exactly the way you want them: how many, their size, position, paging by stance or form, bars hidden out of combat. It comes from Retail, so it loads on Forever without any port.
Good to know: No "-forever" file: the Retail version already declares the Forever client interface (16001).
Forever Move
Makes the game's windows draggable and remembers where you put them (/fm reset to start over).
Details · Interface & bars · by Uggezen
Makes the game's windows draggable: character, spellbook, quest log and the rest. Each window comes back where you left it when you reopen it. Hold Ctrl + Shift to click through without moving it.
Good to know: Action bars already move with the native Edit Mode (Esc > Edit Mode): Forever Move is for the windows. /fm reset clears the saved positions.
DarkMode
Darkens the interface, windows and frames included: pick a mode and a color (/dm).
Do not combine it with ClassicUI Forever: conflicts have been reported.
Details · Interface & bars · by D4KiR
Darkens the game interface, windows and frames included. You pick a mode and a color in the settings (/dm, /dark or /darkmode).
Good to know: Conflicts with ClassicUI Forever have been reported: pick one or the other. The same file serves Retail and Forever.
FontMagic
Changes the font and size of floating combat numbers, 100+ fonts with a live preview.
Relog required after changing the font.
Details · Interface & bars · by Renvulf
Changes the font and size of the damage and healing numbers floating above targets. Over 100 fonts included, live preview, and your own .ttf fonts through the companion addon FontMagicCustomFonts.
Good to know: A font change needs a relog; size changes apply at once. FontMagic only handles Blizzard's floating combat text: a third-party combat text addon is configured separately.
Better Forever Chat
A Prat-style chat window: font, fading, timestamps, short names, keyword alerts.
Alpha: export your settings, they may fail to load.
Details · Interface & bars · by aehya
A small independent chat addon inspired by Prat. Adjustable font, line spacing, outline and fading, 12 or 24-hour timestamps, names cut down to first names, keyword alerts, spell and item icons, content filters and repeat suppression.
Good to know: Development alpha: the author warns that settings and history may fail to load, and that scrollback is not restored after a /reload. Export your profile to keep a backup. It is not a full Prat replacement, and not to be confused with "Forever Chat", a different addon.
Leatrix Plus
The comfort pack: camera zoom, auto-selling grey items, repairs, declining duels (/ltp).
Details · Comfort · by Leatrix
The comfort pack, by a distance: extended camera zoom, auto-sell for grey items, repairs, duel refusal. A must-have, settings under /ltp.
Good to know: The link opens the Forever files directly.
Extended Vendor Forever
A larger merchant window with search, filters, selling from your bags, buyback and a log.
Details · Bags, auction house & professions · by Sepheran
Rebuilds the merchant window: larger and resizable, with search, filters and sorting. You browse and sell your bags from the same window, with buyback, repair and a transaction log.
Good to know: Check the auto-sell options before turning them on. UlRemedyForever and ForeverForge also touch the merchant window: do not run two merchant windows at once.
Delete Cheapest Item
Bags full while looting: offers to delete the cheapest item so you can take the best one (/dci).
With XLoot the automatic window does not open: type /dci.
Details · Bags, auction house & professions · by MDHippie
When your bags are full as you loot, a window lists the cheapest items with their vendor and auction house prices. You delete one or ignore it for good, then the better item is looted. /dci opens it by hand.
Good to know: Take the "Updated for Forever" page: the old "Delete Cheapest Item" page only has a Classic file from May 2025. With XLoot the automatic window no longer opens (reported on Oct 12); /dci works.
OpenMap
A continuous world map with every zone revealed, dungeons, boat routes, and your group visible everywhere.
0.7 beta, conflicts with Leatrix Maps, Mapster and Magnify: one or the other.
Details · WoW Forever map · by jigrobbulus

Alternative to OpenMap: install only one of the two.
Details · WoW Forever map · by Leatrix
A revealed world map, with zone levels and the icons of dungeons and flight masters. Unexplored zones are visible from the start.
Good to know: It is the alternative to OpenMap: install only one, OpenMap's author declares the conflict himself. The link opens the Forever files directly.
Shortest Path Forever
The fastest route across walking, flights, boats, tram and portals: Shift + click on the map.
Same role as Mapzeroth and Travelcraft: one is enough.
Details · WoW Forever map · by cjber
Works out the fastest route by combining walking, flights, boats, zeppelins, the tram and portals. Shift + click on the map; directions show in the objective tracker and on the minimap.
Good to know: Mapzeroth and Travelcraft do the same job: pick just one for routes.
Questie + QuestieTrace
Quests and objectives on the map; QuestieTrace reports Forever's brand-new quests back to the team.
Details · Leveling & quests · by Questie team
Quests and objectives on the map. QuestieTrace records Forever's new quests, which the Classic database doesn't have, and sends them to the team: you contribute just by playing.

GearQuest Forever
Right-click a slot: the 3 best pieces for your spec and level, and where to find them.
Also install your class folder; beta data still incomplete.
Details · Leveling & quests · by weber8210
Right-click a slot on your character sheet: the 3 best pieces for your class, spec and level (1 to 60), and where to get them. You "hunt" a piece like a quest, with a pin on the map, and a notification tells you when you get it. A 0 to 100 score in tooltips, filters (no dungeons, current zone, buyable), a simulator for another class or level, customizable stat weights.
Good to know: Install the main addon AND your class folder (one folder per class, enable only yours). It uses 200 to 400 MB of memory. Beta data is still incomplete and changes often: compare with our BiS List.
DungeonJournal
Retail-style dungeon journal (/dj): bosses, loot, map and the quests of both factions.
Loot tables incomplete for level 30+ dungeons and raids.
Details · Dungeons, raids & loot · by ExehnTV
A Retail-style dungeon journal (/dj): bosses, loot, map, and the quests of both factions with their chains. Dungeon quests give a lot of XP on Forever.
Good to know: Loot tables fill in as discoveries come in: level 30+ dungeons and raids are still incomplete.
AtlasLoot Classic Forever + FojjiCore
Every loot table plus BiS per phase; FojjiCore adds a journal and routing.
More than 11 AtlasLoot projects exist: take this one, not the old page.
Details · Dungeons, raids & loot · by Sliccer / Fojji
THE LOOT! THE BASE! Every loot table with BiS (best in slot) lists per phase. FojjiCore adds a journal, routing and spell ranks. Their data feeds our BiS List, with their permission.
Good to know: More than 11 AtlasLoot projects coexist, and the old AtlasLootClassic page has no Forever version. Make sure you take this one.
Deadly Boss Mods
Boss alerts and timers; the only boss mod with modules for the Forever dungeons.
Prefer it to BigWigs, which loads but has no Forever modules.
Details · Dungeons, raids & loot · by DBM team
Boss alerts and timers. The only boss mod that already has modules for the new Forever dungeons (Dalaran, Hall of Thanes, Ruins of Lordaeron…). DBM-PvP adds battleground timers.
Good to know: Prefer it to BigWigs: BigWigs loads, but has no Forever boss modules.
Forever Simple DR / GCD + Counterclock
The core of the PvP kit: diminishing returns, enemy spell with its GCD, enemy cooldowns.
Only targeted or focused enemies, or ones with a nameplate; instant spells are invisible.
Details · PvP · by tarolg (DR, GCD)
The core of the PvP kit. Simple DR shows diminishing returns (8 categories) on nameplates, Simple GCD shows the enemy spell and its global cooldown (GCD), and Counterclock tracks the enemy cooldowns the client lets you see.
Good to know: They only see enemies you target, focus, or that have a visible nameplate. Instant spells slip past Counterclock.
Forever's native map (the Retail client's) shows no cursor coordinates, hides unexplored zones and, on a non-English client, can show up green. These addons fill those gaps. The catch: only one world map addon at a time, because OpenMap, Leatrix Maps, MapUtils, Mapster and the others fight over the same window. Questie, under "Leveling & quests", also draws quests on the map.

Commercial partnershipRestedXP is a KamiLabs partner. Levels 1 to 20 are free; for the full guide, our link to the official site gets you 10% off and supports us. The free alternative, Guidelime, stays in the list below.
Casting a spell by hovering a frame (“mouseover”) means no macros: you point at a player in the raid frame, click, and the spell lands on them. The frames below do it on their own. Clique, the long-time reference, only has test (alpha) versions on Forever for now: the simplest option is the client’s built-in click casting (“Click Casting” in the key bindings options, check it in game).
No addon matches. It may not be on our list yet: ask on the Discord.
Broken or missing on Forever, with the addon to install instead.
Frequently asked questions
Why do my Classic addons crash on Forever?
Because Forever uses the Midnight Retail client (interface 16001), not the Classic client. An addon that was never updated for that client either won't load, or loads and throws errors.
Even a Retail addon can break: if it wasn't adapted to Midnight, it trips over the closed combat log and the secret values. That's the case for OmniCC, Postal, Hekili and Cell.
Where do I install my addons?
In the Interface\AddOns folder of your Forever installation, not in the Classic or Retail one: each version of the game has its own. The easiest way is still the CurseForge app, which puts the files in the right place once Forever is selected as the game.
After an update, a /reload (reloading the interface) is usually enough. Some addons need a full game restart: Musca Auras is one.
CurseForge or Wago?
For Forever, CurseForge first: that's where the "WoW Forever" filter exists and where almost every author publishes their -forever files. All the links on this page lead there.
Wago is still useful for profiles and "strings" (the configuration codes you paste in), but check that they target Forever: a Classic WeakAuras profile is useless, since WeakAuras doesn't exist on Forever.
What about Nova World Buffs?
No Forever version (3.42 of Oct 19 targets MoP, Classic and TBC). And according to several second-hand reports from BlizzCon, world buffs may no longer count in raids. The Nova family is still represented: Spell Rank Checker and Instance Tracker are in the directory.
My world map is all green, what do I do?
During the beta, the new maps (world, Kalimdor, Durotar, Hyjal…) were only delivered for English clients: on a French client, the map shows up green. Install just one of the fixes from the "Fix the green map" section of the directory, for example Map Fix Forever or Degreen World Map Forever. Your text stays in French.
If Blizzard ever ships the textures for every language, these fixes will become pointless: several of their authors say so themselves.
Which world map addon should I pick?
Only one at a time, because OpenMap, Leatrix Maps, MapUtils, BetterMaps, DandyMap and Mapster all modify the same window. For a continuous Vanilla-style map, OpenMap (still in beta). For a safe choice with dungeon maps and routes, Leatrix Maps or MapUtils. If you just want to move and enlarge the original map, Resizable World Map is enough.
Route addons (Shortest Path Forever, Mapzeroth, Travelcraft), the minimap and markers generally work alongside any of them.
Is there no replacement for WeakAuras?
There is, in this order: turn on the native Cooldown Manager, add Cooldown Manager Centered to make it readable, then ForeverAuras or Musca Auras if you want to go further. Note that triggers based on the combat log don't work: use "Aura (Modern)".
