Build Overview
Phylaris’s Oracle Wyvern build reimagines the way to play the Wyvern as a Druid. While the majority of Wyvern setups suffer from excessive boss ramp-up time and a lack of map mobility, this build offers elegant solutions to both of these fundamental problems.
By combining Pounce and
Blink with intensive cooldown reduction scaling (Atziri’s Patience, Khatal’s Energizing, CDR passive tree nodes), the build achieves mobility comparable to the fastest builds in the game. Clearing relies on
Rend empowered by power charges, amplified by a chaining
Herald of Ice that clears the entire screen with each hit. For single target,
Flame Breath combined with ultra-fast charge generation via Wolf
Shred allows you to vaporize Uber bosses in seconds.
The build runs on a hybrid Armour/Energy Shield base with
Mind Over Matter and uses two ascendancy jumps (
Ancestral Bond and
Mind Over Matter) to access critical Wyvern nodes and damage multipliers. With 9 immortal wolves thanks to Brutus’ Brain and Predator’s Mark, single target benefits from a massive 40% increased damage taken bonus on marked targets.
Build Strengths
- Exceptional mobility: Thanks to the combination of Pounce +
Blink with massive CDR (Atziri’s Patience, Khatal’s Energizing, passive tree nodes), the build teleports through maps at impressive speed. - Devastating single target: Empowered
Flame Breath vaporizes Uber Pinnacle bosses in seconds. Charge generation via Wolf
Shred drastically reduces ramp-up time. - Massive clearing: The gigantic AoE of empowered
Rend (+150% AoE) combined with the chaining
Herald of Ice covers the entire screen and triggers chain explosions on monster packs. - Accessible budget: The Warrior Invictus chest piece costs around one Divine. The build works without expensive lineage supports in
Flame Breath and can be built up progressively.
Build Weaknesses
- Complex cooldown management: Tracking the cooldowns of Pounce and
Blink simultaneously takes practice. The timing of the
Rend–
Blink–Pounce rotation requires an adjustment period. - Sprint bug with Blink: Holding the space bar a fraction of a second too long triggers an unintentional Sprint. An AutoHotKey script is recommended to disable Sprint while keeping
Blink. - Single target setup to learn: The charge generation sequence on bosses (
Shred → Pounce →
Rend →
Flame Breath) involves several actions to chain quickly. It takes some time to get used to. - Insufficient crit without investment: With only 32% critical strike chance and less than 300% critical strike damage bonus, the Druid section of the passive tree offers less crit scaling than the Monk area. A non-crit setup could be more cost-efficient at an equivalent budget.

11 skills • 52 gemsRecommended Equipment
- Talisman: Craft with Greater
Essence of Abrasion + Perfect
Essence of Abrasion for gain as physical damage. Onslaught Battle and attack speed Amanamu as bonuses. Anoint
Overwhelming Strike (or
Tribal Fury if you don’t have it on the passive tree). - Body Armour: Warrior Invictus (around one Divine) to get started. Ideally, aim for a rare with 1500+ armour and 500+ ES, or an Invictus with 5 sockets for more flexibility.
- Helmet: Full armour to benefit from Runic Helm via
Mind Over Matter, which converts a portion of armour into ES. - Amulet: Spirit is mandatory (minimum 56 total spirit). Can be combined with the body armour to reach the threshold. If spirit is lacking, cut
Berserk first. - Weapon: Talisman with gain as physical damage to allow
Herald of Ice to shatter enemy armour and trigger explosion chains. - Shield: Pulser for consistent
Herald of Ice in maps with elemental ailment threshold. Not required in maps without this mod. - Boots: Pure ES with
Iron Slippers (armour per ES on unequipped boots). No need for 35% movement speed boots since mobility comes from Pounce and
Blink. - Belt:
Headhunter if budget allows for mapping, but not essential since mobility doesn’t rely on movement speed. - Charms: Ardent Hope (freeze), Four Utopia (stun), Spirit of the Ox Right of Passage (defenses). A Right of Passage with movement speed (Wolf, Stag, or Cat) would be ideal but very costly.
- Mana Flask: Instant recovery is mandatory since
Flame Breath consumes a lot of mana, and
Mind Over Matter can drain your mana after a big hit.
Gameplay Tips
- Clearing rotation: Alternate
Rend →
Blink → Pounce →
Rend →
Blink → Pounce in a loop.
Blink acts as an animation cancel after
Rend. Power charges are generated automatically via Ailith’s Chimes + Culmination in Pounce. - Boss setup: Cast
Ferocious Roar (Weapon Set 1) to instantly build rage and apply 9 Critical Weakness charges. Switch to Weapon Set 2, use Wolf
Shred for half a second to generate combo, then Pounce for the charges, and chain
Rend →
Flame Breath. - Berserk management: If
Berserk degen becomes bothersome during boss cutscenes, switch to Weapon Set 1 (
Berserk is only in Set 2) to temporarily stop the degeneration. - Herald of Ash → Herald of Ice transition: Stay on
Herald of Ash +
Devour until around level 80. The
Herald of Ice chaining requires good gain as physical damage on the weapon and a high enough level
Herald of Ice to be consistent. - AHK script for Sprint: Install the AutoHotKey script to disable Sprint while keeping
Blink. It is legal and takes 20 seconds to set up. The link is in the video description.
Hybrid Mobility System: Pounce + Blink
The key innovation of this build lies in its approach to mobility. Where most Wyvern builds suffer from a lack of movement speed in the upper part of the passive tree, Phylaris works around the problem by combining two movement skills with aggressive CDR scaling.
Pounce and
Blink share the same cooldown reduction scaling, allowing them to be scaled simultaneously. CDR sources include passive nodes in the Oracle area (movement speed + CDR),
Mana Remnants with Khatal’s Empowerment (up to 40% CDR by picking up remnants while clearing), and Atziri’s Impatience in
Blink (100% free CDR since
Blink is a reservation skill, bypassing the normally associated cost).
The result is near-permanent uptime on both movement skills, which fundamentally transforms the Wyvern gameplay into a build of rapid teleportation through maps.
Herald of Ice Chaining: The Clearing Engine
The clearing of this build relies on the chaining mechanic of
Herald of Ice. The principle is as follows: the weapon with gain as physical damage allows
Herald of Ice to deal physical damage, which shatters enemy armour and triggers armour explosions. These explosions deal cold damage (via Bhatair’s
Vengeance or cold damage from the setup), which freezes or chills enemies, causing them to explode, and relaunches
Herald of Ice in an infinite loop as long as there are nearby monsters.
Phylaris recommends placing Bhatair’s
Vengeance and
Freeze in
Lunar Assault rather than in
Rend, unlike most Wyvern builds. The reason is that
Lunar Assault has a massive
Freeze buildup multiplier, which makes the
Rend chaining far more consistent in maps with elemental ailment threshold. Moreover, keeping offensive supports in
Rend preserves the ability to one-shot resistant rare mobs.
Wolf Shred: The Solution to the Charge Problem
The main issue with the Wyvern in single target is power charge generation. The classic method involves hitting the boss 8 times with
Rend to build up combo, then using Pounce to convert the combo into charges. This method takes about 5 seconds, a significant amount of time against aggressive bosses.
Phylaris’s solution is to use Wolf
Shred instead of
Rend for combo generation.
Shred has a significantly higher attack speed than
Rend, and since it is not used for clearing, it can be socketed with supports purely focused on attack speed and combo:
Rapid Attacks III,
Rage III,
Practiced Combo,
Blazing Critical,
Crescendo II. The result is spectacular: half a second of
Shred is enough to generate 8 combo charges, compared to several seconds with
Rend.
The 9 Immortal Wolves and Predator’s Mark
The build uses Brutus’s Brain in Pounce to make the wolves immortal. Combined with the
Ancestral Bond jump that unlocks
Expendable Army (+2 to the temporary minion limit), the build runs with 9 wolves permanently. These wolves serve two essential functions.
First, Predator’s Mark inflicts 4% increased damage taken by the marked target for each enemy around it. With 9 wolves plus the player, that is 10 entities, equating to 40% increased damage taken. This is the equivalent of boosting a
Shock from 20% to 60%, a massive multiplier for single target.
Second,
Minion Pact II sacrifices the wolves’ HP to grant a 35% more damage bonus to
Flame Breath and
Lunar Assault. Since the wolves are immortal (Brutus’s Brain), they only occasionally die when all have sacrificed their HP, and the next Pounce instantly resurrects them.
Build Progression and Transition
Leveling starts as Bear because Wyvern skills (
Wing Blast,
Devour) are not immediately available. The transition to Wyvern happens as soon as
Wing Blast and
Devour are unlocked, or from level 31 with Oil
Barrage for single target.
The first phase of the build uses
Herald of Ash and
Devour for power charge generation during clearing. This combination works very well in the campaign and early maps.
Tribal Fury, obtained on the passive tree, completely transforms Wyvern clearing by adding splash damage to each
Rend hit.
Around level 80, transitioning to
Herald of Ice with chaining becomes relevant. This transition requires a good gain of physical damage on the weapon and a sufficiently leveled
Herald of Ice. The Ailith’s Chimes +
Culmination II setup in Pounce replaces
Devour for automatic charge generation, as
Herald of Ice shatters corpses and makes
Rend
Devour unusable.
For crit, Phylaris notes that the Druid section of the passive tree offers less crit scaling than the Monk area. A non-crit setup with
Crown of Eyes and
Mystical Rage could be more effective on a medium budget. Crit only becomes truly worthwhile with significant investment in the rest of the gear.
