Build Overview
This AFK ritualist Huntress build relies on an infinite loop mechanic built around
Mirror of Refraction, a unique skill granted by the Atziris Rule staff. The concept: the summoned mirror shatters as soon as it’s hit by a
Frostbolt projectile, which duplicates that projectile into several extra
Frostbolt projectiles. Thanks to
Breachlords Amalgam, a support gem linked to
Frostbolt that pulls the projectiles back to the player (piercing every target along the way), these
Frostbolt projectiles then strike the area again, along with the new mirrors, endlessly restarting the loop as long as the mirror respawns fast enough. The result: a permanent rain of
Frostbolt that deals continuous damage without a single button press once the loop is running.
The build’s strength comes from two combined scaling levers: the number of
Frostbolt projectiles in circulation (which trends toward infinity) and the damage of each impact, boosted via
Drillneck (increased damage per pierce, plus critical strike chance). Cooldown recovery is the priority stat since it determines how often the mirror reappears: the lower it is, the faster the mirror comes back to get destroyed again, and the faster the loop sustains itself.
The character plays in weapon set 2 almost the entire time (auto-summoned
Mirror of Refraction), while weapon set 1 (
Frostbolt +
Widowhail +
Drillneck) is only used to kickstart the loop at the start of a map or Simulacrum.
Widowhail greatly boosts the bonuses granted by the equipped quiver — which is what makes
Drillneck just as effective in this set too. Once the loop is running, all it takes is walking to bring the mirrors near the boss and let the damage stack up — hence the « 0-button AFK » feel that lets you even beat pinnacle bosses without actually playing.
Strengths / Weaknesses
✅ Strengths
- Nearly immortal: triple recoup setup (life/mana/ES) that absorbs almost all incoming damage
- Infinitely scaling damage: the
Frostbolt loop generates an ever-growing number of projectiles - 100% AFK-playable: capable of clearing an entire Simulacrum and even killing pinnacle bosses without any active input
- Little visual clutter once the loop is stabilized (aside from the initial setup)
- Overall reasonable cost, aside from a few key unique pieces to acquire
- Adaptable to active play via auto-casting
Frostbolt combined with a support gem that deals extra cold damage each time an ice crystal is destroyed, if you prefer to play manually
❌ Weaknesses
- Very low clear speed in active mapping — not built for efficient map farming
- Requires understanding and manually restarting the loop for every map / Simulacrum
- Unconventional passive tree setup (mandatory respec via
Split Personality + Doryani to start over from the Witch zone) - Relies on several specific unique items (staff,
Widowhail,
Drillneck) that push the budget higher than a standard build

AFK Simulacrum & Mapping

5 skills • 28 gemmesRecommended Equipment
- Weapon set 1 (loop startup): Atziris Rule, the unique staff that grants Mirror of Refraction +
Widowhail (at least 300% increased bonus gained from the equipped quiver, an important threshold for efficiency) socketed with a rune of random additional elemental damage
Drillneck (quiver): increased damage per pierce + critical hit chance, ideally with corrupted projectile speed
Breachlords Amalgam: support gem on
Frostbolt that returns projectiles while piercing all targets, essential for the infinite loop- Weapon set 2:
Frost Wall to multiply the piercing targets for
Frostbolt - Helmet — Atziris Disdain: maximum mana, item rarity, and some additional energy shield
- Body armour — Sacrosanctum: defensive 2-socket piece used to complete the triple damage recoup
- Belt — Ingenuity: adds charm slots and increases the bonuses of both equipped rings
- Boots: speed of recoup + increased effect of socketed items — no movement speed, useless on an AFK build
- Rings / Amulet: life/mana/resistance, damage taken recouped as life and mana
- General gear priority: cap (or overcap) resistances to avoid the mana weakness curse, maximize life/mana/ES, then look for damage-taken-recouped mods
Gameplay Tips
- Loop start-up: switch to weapon set 1, cast a
Frostbolt onto a summoned mirror, then immediately switch back to weapon set 2 — the loop then sustains itself indefinitely - Only one restart per map/Simulacrum is needed afterward; just walk to bring the mirrors close to enemies or the boss
- Triple-layer defensive setup: split incoming damage across life, mana, and Energy Shield to survive all Simulacrum modifiers, combining a double curse (
Enfeeble +
Temporal Chains) with multiple recovery sources - Avoid keystone Mind Over Matter: the mod reduces mana recovery rate, which hurts the triple-layer setup
- Prioritize cooldown recovery on the tree: it’s the stat that most speeds up mirror spawn frequency and therefore the damage loop
- For a more active playstyle: auto-cast
Frostbolt with a support gem that grants additional cold damage each time an ice crystal is destroyed
Why this Huntress AFK Ritualist build works
The core of the system relies on
Mirror of Refraction, a unique skill that summons a mirror in the player’s area. As soon as a spell projectile hits it, the mirror shatters and duplicates that projectile into several
Frostbolt at once. Thanks to
Breachlords Amalgam, the projectile-return support gem attached to
Frostbolt, these
Frostbolt then come back to strike the area, hitting any new mirrors summoned in the meantime, which restarts the cycle. As long as the mirror spawn interval is short enough, the loop sustains itself indefinitely with no further action from the player.
In practice, the loop only needs to be started once per map or Simulacrum: a single
Frostbolt fired from weapon set 1 at a mirror is enough to kick off a projectile stream that won’t stop. The player can then turn off the active skill and simply walk — the mirrors follow the character and keep generating a continuous stream of
Frostbolt around them.
Damage Scaling: the Two Vectors to Optimize
This build’s damage scaling relies on two complementary levers. The first is the number of
Frostbolt projectiles in circulation, which tends toward infinity thanks to the mirror loop — the more active projectiles there are, the more the impact frequency mechanically increases. The second is the per-impact damage, scaled via
Drillneck: this unique quiver increases damage every time an enemy (or a mirror) is hit by a piercing projectile, and also increases critical strike chance.
Projectile speed is a secondary but notable third factor: the higher it is, the faster the
Frostbolt projectiles return to the player to close the loop, which indirectly speeds up the whole system. Finally, cooldown recovery speed remains the most important stat to prioritize on the tree and gear, since it dictates how often the mirror reappears — the true engine of the infinite loop.
Defensive Setup: Triple Damage Recoup
To tank the Simulacrum while staying AFK, the build relies on a triple recoup system that spreads incoming damage across life, mana, and energy shield. Part of the physical damage and part of the actual damage is recouped as life; another portion of damage is drawn from mana before life; finally, energy shield also recoups its share, complemented by a mod that routes some damage directly through the shield. This distribution allows the build to absorb a wide variety of Simulacrum modifiers without ever depending on a single resource.
In addition, a double curse (
Enfeeble +
Temporal Chains), made possible by the
keystone Whispers of Doom keystone, heavily reduces enemy damage and speed, while a damage-taken-per-hit reduction mod rounds out the defense. «
From Nothing » jewels (which allow allocating passives without being connected to the tree) are used to reach notables such as
keystone Necromantic Talisman or
notable Hale Heart (+15% life recovery rate), which directly improves recoup speed. It is recommended to avoid the
keystone Mind Over Matter keystone, which reduces mana recovery rate and weakens the entire defensive setup.
Ritualist Ascendancy and Passive Tree Setup
The Ritualist ascendancy (Huntress) was chosen because it is particularly well suited to an AFK Simulacrum playstyle, notably thanks to
notable Wildwood Persistence, which greatly increases life recovery rate, directly improving recoup speed. The
notable Corrupted Lifeforce notable is also valuable: it grants the
Blood Boil skill, which applies Corrupted Blood on enemy death and deals damage over time equal to a percentage of that enemy’s maximum life — a mechanism that is very effective against the tough enemies of a Simulacrum.
On the passive tree, most points are invested in weapon set 2 into cooldown recovery, as well as into recoup nodes. To reach certain normally inaccessible areas (such as the nodes near the Witch starting point), the build uses a
Split Personality jewel that allows allocating passives from another starting point; you then need to talk to Doryani to refund the points already allocated and start over on this new path. This « split tree » setup allows maximizing cooldown recovery and recoup nodes while keeping a coherent path toward the Huntress starting area.
