Build Overview
The «
Liminal Coil Oracle » build is one of the smoothest mapping archetypes in Path of Exile 2 version 0.5. Played as a Druid with the Oracle ascendancy, it revolves around the unique scepter
Liminal Coil to cast
Coiling Bolts, a projectile spell that scales chaos damage through stacked curses. The core idea is straightforward: apply as many curses as possible to enemies, with each active curse granting a percentage of additional damage thanks to the scepter’s modifiers.
Coiling Bolts fires two projectiles (one physical, one chaos) that split automatically. But the real magic kicks in once an enemy is cursed: the projectiles then chain to all other cursed monsters in the pack, clearing entire screens in a single cast. Combined with the meta-gem
Blasphemy which converts three curses (
Enfeeble,
Elemental Weakness, Repulsion) into permanent auras, the build handles mapping almost on autopilot — a true « brain-dead » clear monster.
The Oracle ascendancy pushes the concept even further: it allows allocating any passive within the radius of keystones, offering total freedom to build a tailored skill tree — maximized AoE, critical strike chance, spell critical multiplier. The result: curses that blanket the entire screen, exceptional map clear, and solid survivability thanks to the Energy Shield paired with
Convalescence.
Strengths / Weaknesses
✅ Strengths
- Exceptional map clear : projectiles automatically chain onto all cursed enemies in a pack, clearing entire screens effortlessly.
- « Brain-dead » gameplay : a single button in mapping, the build handles everything thanks to the
Blasphemy auras and the massive AoE of curses. - Full screen coverage : Oracle allows stacking AoE through passives, curses hit everything moving on screen.
- Solid survivability : high Energy Shield,
Convalescence for recovery, charm
Rite of Passage for a smooth gameplay feel. - Build freedom : Oracle lets you shape your own passive tree by allocating the passives of your choice around the keystones.
- Unique gameplay experience : curse scaling via
Liminal Coil and the 5-curse weapon swap deliver a rare mechanical depth.
❌ Weaknesses
- Very high cost : expect around 1,500 Divines for a smooth experience including
Mageblood — this is not a budget build. - Limited single-target : bosses require heavy gear investment and proper weapon swap management to maximize single-target damage.
- Unique dependency :
Liminal Coil,
Mageblood and gloves with a special rune are near-mandatory; the creator also considers Gloom Shrine in the off-hand as decisive for the promised gameplay feel. - Build not finalized : presented as a work-in-progress « overview », some mechanics (e.g. the
Freezing Mark variant) remain work-in-progress.

SkillSet
13 skills • 55 gemmesRecommended Equipment
- Main Weapon :
Liminal Coil (unique scepter, the absolute core of the build — reduces curse magnitude to 0 but allows inflicting an infinite number of them; aim for 20% quality via the built-in Arcanist for +2 projectiles on
Coiling Bolts). - Off-hand / Weapon swap : Palm of the Dreamer (off-hand scepter equipped in the reference PoB; the creator recommends Gloom Shrine for the feel of play) +
Sigil of Power in the off-hand for the best buff available. - Gloves : rare with a special rune allowing the gloves to roll marks/modifiers — look for +2 projectiles, projectile damage, critical damage (gloves cost around 80 Divines but provide a considerable damage gain).
- Belt :
Mageblood (not mandatory, but highly recommended for the « zoom » mapping experience, screen blow-up). - Amulet : Pyre of the Dreamer or a rare with high spirit, cast speed, spell damage, energy shield and rarity (spirit is critical to power
Blasphemy at 180 reserved). - Helmet / Body Armour / Boots / Shield : generic rare Vaal Regalia pieces focused on energy shield — prioritize cast speed and item rarity bonus.
- Rings : rare with cast speed and item rarity.
- Charms : the reference PoB equips Nascent Hope,
Rite of Passage (best feel for mapping) and For Utopia; the creator also recommends Spirit of the Stag for energy shield. - Key Runes : Life Sprig (~200 Divines, the most expensive), two perfect iron runes in the body armour, a curse effect reduction rune (to attenuate its own
Temporal Chains), helmet runes/idols providing 6% more damage and 5% reduced chaos resistance to enemies.
Gameplay Tips
- Apply the curses, then spam Coiling Bolts : the
Blasphemy auras apply automatically — just run into the pack. Once enemies are cursed, a single cast of
Coiling Bolts triggers the chain reaction. - Never scale physical :
Coiling Bolts does not have the physical tag for its damage — do not invest in physical damage, only in chaos damage, spell damage, and critical strike. - Manage the weapon swap for boss fights : before a boss, swap to the off-hand scepter (Palm of the Dreamer in the reference PoB, Gloom Shrine per the creator’s recommendation) to apply
Despair and
Temporal Chains via the weapon swap. These curses stack on top of the three
Blasphemy auras, bringing the total to 5 active curses and maximising the damage bonus from
Liminal Coil. - Keep Zenith II active : this support costs no mana, which maintains the +30% damage multiplier. Never remove it from your skill bar.
- Aim for 20% quality on Liminal Coil : the Arcanist built into the scepter grants additional quality levels to
Coiling Bolts, increasing it from 5 projectiles per split to 9 — a massive damage gain. - Prioritise Spirit for Blasphemy : the
Blasphemy meta-gem reserves approximately 180 Spirit for three active curses. Each additional curse costs +60 Spirit. Keep an eye on your total available Spirit from your amulet and passives. - Use Tricksters Shard wisely : this support (which drops from the Delirium boss) acts like an enhanced
Unleash with a 200% multiplier every 4 casts — it scales with cast speed, so stacking cast speed directly improves its activation frequency.
How the Main Skill Works
Coiling Bolts fires two projectiles simultaneously: one physical and one chaos, each with low flat damage on their own. The power comes from the split mechanic — by default, each projectile splits twice, reaching 5 projectiles per enemy hit. With 20% quality on the
Liminal Coil scepter (via the Arcanist), two additional projectiles are added, bringing the total to 9 per enemy. The key element is chaining: if an enemy is cursed by any active curse, projectiles automatically jump to all other cursed monsters in the pack, clearing the entire screen in a single cast.
It is fundamental never to scale physical damage: despite the apparent physical nature of one of the projectiles, the gem does not carry the physical tag for its damage. All investment must go toward chaos damage, spell damage, critical strike chance, and critical strike multiplier.
Liminal Coil: The Game-Changing Weapon
Liminal Coil is a unique scepter whose primary modifier reduces the magnitude of all curses inflicted to 0 — in other words, your curses have no direct effect on enemies. In exchange, the scepter removes any limit on the number of curses that can be applied simultaneously. The two remaining modifiers grant approximately 28–31% additional chaos and physical damage for each active curse on the target. Three permanent
Blasphemy curses therefore provide a substantial damage bonus from the very start of combat, and that bonus climbs even higher on single targets thanks to the weapon swap.
The Blasphemy Setup: Three Curses as Auras
The
Blasphemy meta gem transforms curses into permanent auras that apply to all nearby enemies. The build uses three optimal curses:
Enfeeble (reduces enemy damage),
Elemental Weakness (lowers resistances), and Repulsion (adds free physical attack damage). This trio is the practical limit, as each additional
Blasphemy curse costs an additional 60 spirit, and some must be kept in reserve for the
Coiling Bolts supports. In parallel, increasing the curse AoE (via Oracle passives) widens the aura application zone and therefore extends the chaining range.
The Weapon Swap: Five Curses on Bosses
The Oracle keystone
keystone Whispers of Doom grants one additional curse. By placing
Despair and
Temporal Chains on the weapon swap (the off-hand scepter: Palm of the Dreamer in the reference PoB, Gloom Shrine per the creator’s recommendation), these curses are applied to the target before swapping back to
Liminal Coil. The
Blasphemy auras, which bypass the curse limit by virtue of being auras, do not replace the curses applied via the weapon swap. The result: five curses active simultaneously on the boss, maximizing the damage bonus per curse granted by
Liminal Coil.
Despair, which amplifies the chaos damage taken by the target, accounts for the majority of single target scaling.
Why Choose Oracle
The Oracle ascendancy offers two decisive advantages. First, critical strikes become inevitable, which simplifies the gear requirements. Second, and most importantly, it allows freely allocating any passive within the radius of keystones, turning the PoE2 passive tree into a fully customizable playground. The build takes advantage of this to stack 5% AoE on every available notable, increase the spell critical multiplier and critical chance — resulting in curses that literally cover the entire screen. Divined Varana-type timeless jewels allow further stat optimization through the
Heroic Tragedy node, which converts Energy Shield into Strength.
Budget and Progression
This build is not aimed at players looking for a budget-friendly option. Expect to spend around 1,500 Divines for a fully smooth experience including
Mageblood. For comparison, roughly 80% of players using
Liminal Coil opt for the Blood Mage Witch, which delivers higher damage numbers at a similar budget. The streamer WITCH POE nonetheless prefers the Oracle + Gloom Shrine combination purely for the feel of play — hypnotic mapping on autopilot, satisfying screen-wide explosions. A more defensively accessible alternative uses a life-regeneration body armour paired with a belt that transfers
Life Drain to Energy Shield, providing a dual recovery source and sustain via life tap cast on crit.
