Build Overview
The Hollow Assault Beyblade is a Monk build focused on the Martial Artist ascendancy, designed by jungroan for the endgame of Path of Exile 2 (patch 0.5). It reaches approximately 5 million DPS, 10,000 energy shield, 23,000 evasion, and over 100% bonus movement speed, while clearing the entire screen with a single button. It is one of the most comfortable farmers in the game, capable of handling virtually all progression content effortlessly.
The core of the build relies on the interaction between the
Lochtonial Caress gloves and the Way of the Stonefist ascendancy passive: your gloves generate charges for your allies with each hit. Since your clones inherit your character’s properties, they become your allies and therefore generate charges for you. These charges are then consumed when you channel
Hollow Form, which triples the damage of
Whirling Assault within that skill. Clones always complete a full Rolling Assault attack, and even though attack speed does not directly affect them, it increases the channeling speed of
Hollow Form — and therefore the overall DPS.
Compared to previous iterations, the major new feature is the doubling of energy shield thanks to a fully ES chest and helmet, with evasion maintained through a Legacy of Jade modifier on the Mage Blood. jungroan notes that, starting at level 60 with Hollow Palm, this build is the best league starter he has ever played: once
Lochtonial Caress and Rolling Assault are in hand, it numerically outperforms almost every other accessible build, and could chain T15 maps nearly immediately.
Strengths / Weaknesses
✅ Strengths
- Around 5 million DPS on a reasonable budget at league start
- Full-screen clear with a single button: exceptional gameplay comfort
- Very tanky: 10,000 energy shield, 23,000 evasion, and curse immunity (Warding + Hollow Keeper)
- Excellent league starter, fully playable from level 60 with Hollow Palm
- Over 100% bonus movement speed for ultra-fast mapping
- Very high scaling ceiling: enormous min-max potential
❌ Weaknesses
- Entirely dependent on the
Lochtonial Caress unique gloves (mandatory item) - Expensive support gems: nearly half the build’s cost is concentrated in
Hollow Form - Mage Blood, ideal for the optimized version, remains an expensive chase unique
- Weapon set management and Pounce rotation must be mastered to maintain all buffs

- Staff (main weapon): the foundation of your damage. Aim for a base with increased physical damage and attack speed, add flat physical damage via an essence of abrasion, desecrate with an ancient jawbone, then look for hybrid accuracy. The rest is finalized with exalts on suffixes.
- Gloves — Lochtonial Caress (unique): the absolute cornerstone of the build. The roll you’re looking for is « 10% chance to grant a Power Charge ». If the roll is bad, you can reforge it once at Vorici’s workbench (Versissium).
- Body Armour & Helmet: 100% energy shield bases to double your ES. Craft via greater chance mutes on maps, then greater augments targeting good prefixes (and essence of opulence to guarantee rarity).
- Boots: prioritize evasion or hybrid evasion/ES. The « deflection rating equal to evasion rating » line is excellent on gear (whereas it is weak on the tree).
- Belt — Mage Blood (chase) or Ingenuity / rare belt: before Mage Blood, an
Ingenuity or a rare belt is more than sufficient. Top priority is quicksilver, then jade. - Rings: aim for flat damage (physical, cold, lightning or fire), double rarity, and fill resistances and attributes. Low-tier bases are preferable (fewer unwanted mods).
- Amulet: Spirit implicit (at least 10), +3 levels is valuable for damage. Gem quality completes the Spirit needed for
Blasphemy and
Ghost Dance. - Secondary weapon set (weapon swap): a second weapon set focused on skill effect duration (around 15%), perfect for extending
Blazing Critical via
Devour.
Gameplay Tips
- Rotation: channel
Hollow Form to consume your charges and triple
Whirling Assault.
Hollow Focus generates your rage by detonating the bell (it is your damage, so it procs reliably). - Mana: Well of Power handles most of your sustain thanks to the many Power Charges spent. The Conservative Casting wheel is an inexpensive and highly effective complement.
- Weapon sets: allocate Pounce on both weapon sets (remove the staff, allocate the passive, put the staff back) otherwise your wolves disappear on swap.
- Rage generation: rage does not come from clones (
Hollow Form), but from
Hollow Focus,
Devour and Pounce.
How the Hollow Form Engine Works
The entire build revolves around a charge loop. The
Lochtonial Caress gloves, combined with the Way of the Stonefist passive, cause your allies to generate charges whenever you hit. Your clones, created by
Whirling Assault / Rolling Assault, fully inherit your properties: they therefore count as allies and feed those charges back to you.
When you channel
Hollow Form, those charges are consumed to triple the damage of
Whirling Assault inside the skill. Since clones always complete a full attack, damage output stays consistent; and because attack speed accelerates the channelling of
Hollow Form, it indirectly increases your DPS. This engine is what turns a simple melee skill into a one-button screen-clear machine.
Defensive Choices: Double Energy Shield and Evasion
The major evolution of this version is the doubling of the energy shield through a pure ES body armour and helmet. To still maintain insane evasion despite this, jungroan uses a Legacy of Jade modifier on the Mage Blood. If this budget is out of reach, evasion on rings and boots is an excellent alternative, and flat values scale very well thanks to the hybrid defence nodes on the tree.
On the immunity side, combining the Warding rune with the Hollow Keeper passive grants permanent curse immunity — a huge quality-of-life improvement in both maps and boss fights. The stun threshold and ailment threshold are both tied to ES thanks to the
jewel unique Heart of the Well jewel, which avoids spending any additional points on the tree.
Key Runes and Jewels
Runes provide a large portion of the defensive and utility value:
- Legacy of Fox Trade: 10% movement speed always active (chaos build) and 100% global evasion.
- Warding: curse immunity in synergy with Hollow Keeper.
- Phellow’s Run: stays on your final boots, never replaced.
- rune cadigan s epiphany: adds an extra jewel socket — a jewel is on average worth far more than a rune. jungroan uses it for rage generation.
- Resistance runes wherever needed.
On the jewel side, the
jewel unique Heart of the Well grants a large lightning energy shield bonus from the body armour (up to 52%) and ties the ailment threshold to ES. The jewel unique Megalomaniac brings Reaching Strike (increased weapon range, significant AoE gain) while a well-placed Time Lost jewel (6 notable passives) maximises the scaling of notable passives.
Skill Gem Setup: Main Skills
Hollow Form groups the core supports (and therefore the bulk of the build’s cost):
- Whirling Assault: easy to level up to 21 (corruption +1 then raw gem level 20).
- Rakiatas Flow: converts a large portion of damage to elemental through the « extra as » bonuses from
Devour and
Blazing Critical. - Garukhans Resolve: bifurcation, excellent for critical attack builds.
- Voranas Siege: AoE for clear and more damage on single target.
- Hollow Focus: melee attack that generates rage through the bell explosion.
- Pounce (with
Mark for Death): up to 60% more damage and
Rupture armour break. - Devour: « extra as » bonuses, Blazing Critical and
Thrill of the Kill extended by the skill effect duration of weapon set 2.
Leveling and Tree Priority
For leveling, jungroan recommends following a classic Monk guide (FG Korbyn’s is very solid for learning the fundamentals of quarterstaff early game). In terms of tree priority, take Stone Fist first, then
Hollow Form, then Runic Meridian’s, and finally
Hollow Focus. If you’re playing softcore trade, a simple lab carry for ascendancy points remains by far the fastest option.
