In WoW Classic, a feral druid in animal form gained nothing from its weapon’s damage or from the effects the weapon carries: only the form mattered. Blizzard changed that rule in Forever. The feral druid now uses its weapon’s DPS, its “Chance on hit” effects, its enchantments and its weapon consumables, exactly like a warrior or a rogue.
This page lists every druid weapon with an effect from level 49 to level 60, then the enchantments, stones and oils. The items are then sorted by use, in PvP and then in PvE. One example to set the scene: , the Alterac Valley mace whose effect stuns the target for one second.
What Blizzard changed for the feral druid’s weapon
The change comes from the official Blizzard video “Class Highlights – Part 3: Druid, Warlock, Priest | World of Warcraft: Forever”, published on the World of Warcraft channel. Icy Veins summarized it in a PopTop news post dated October 6, 2026. The druid passage comes down to two sentences: “In WoW Forever, Feral Druids now benefit directly from their weapon’s damage. Additionally, Weapon Enchantments and chance-on-hit effects work while shapeshifted.”

The same rule applies to the cat: “Like Bears, Cat Druids can also benefit from consumables, Enchants, and weapon procs while shapeshifted.”
On the mechanics side, the Icy Veins Feral guide, written by Meyra and updated on October 26, 2026, gives the details. Base attack speed is the same whatever the weapon: 1 second in , 2.5 seconds in . Damage in form scales with weapon DPS and with attack power. , and deal damage based on attack damage in form.

A figure also appears in our BiS List: the wowsims Forever simulator counts 1 point of weapon DPS as 14 points of attack power for Feral. The figure describes the weight of weapon DPS and does not rank any item.
How often an effect triggers in cat form
Two families of effects exist, and they do not react the same way to the attack speed of the feral druid in cat form. The first relies on a rate per minute (PPM, “procs per minute”: the game aims for an average number of triggers per minute and lowers the chance per hit when hits are fast; chance per hit = PPM × speed ÷ 60). The second relies on a fixed chance per hit, written on the item.
For per-minute rates, everything depends on the speed the game uses. The wowsims Forever simulator builds the cat’s paw with a speed of 1 second, in its file forms.go. The rates for each weapon are stored in weapon_procs.go.

All these rates are carried over from Classic. A comment in the file says so: “TODO: Vanilla value – verify in-game” (a Classic value, to be verified in game). To our knowledge, none of these rates has been measured on Forever.
The gap weighs heavily on , listed at 0.5 triggers per minute. With the simulator’s model (speed of 1 second), that gives a 0.83% chance per hit, or about 0.6 stuns per minute for about 75 hits per minute. If the game used the mace’s speed (3.6 seconds), the chance would rise to 3% per hit, or about 2.3 stuns per minute. Nobody has measured it in Forever, to our knowledge.
Triggers per minute in cat form, two examples
Orders of magnitude: about 75 hits per minute for The Unstoppable Force, 60 auto-attacks for the oil. Mace rate taken from Classic by wowsims. Calculation by kami-labs.fr.
Fixed-chance effects behave differently. The shows 15% and the 10%. Here, hitting fast does multiply the triggers: 60 auto-attacks per minute in cat form at 10% give about 6 Frostbolts per minute with Frost Oil, from auto-attacks alone.
A simple test settles the question for per-minute rates. It follows five steps, with a slow weapon that has a damage effect.
- Choose the weapon. A slow weapon with a damage effect, such as (3.2 seconds).
- First measurement. Five minutes of auto-attacks on a dummy, in normal form, with no abilities.
- Second measurement. Five minutes of auto-attacks on the same dummy, in .
- Count. Note the triggers in the combat log (Details! displays them).
- Compare. Same number in both cases: the game follows the simulator’s model. About 3 times more in cat form: the cat benefits from its speed.
Figures recorded by players are welcome in the comments below this article. They will make it possible to replace the Classic rates with Forever measurements.
Feral druid weapons with effects, level 49 to 60
The following table lists the maces, staves, daggers and fist weapons with an effect whose required level runs from 49 to 60. It is sorted by descending DPS, an objective criterion. The Rate column gives the wowsims rate, taken from Classic; “unpublished” marks an item missing from the simulator’s file. A druid can equip all of these, but the required level and the place to get them vary a lot.

Rate: wowsims simulator rate, carried over from Classic. Classic values for the items Forever has not modified.
Four weapons will have to wait for the Molten Core raids. is a two-handed weapon with 62.6 DPS that knocks down all nearby enemies for 3 seconds (2.1 per minute), a drop from Magmadar. , one-handed, offers 51.6 DPS and a Shadow Bolt for 161 to 301 damage (0.4 per minute). , a dagger with 47.8 DPS, reduces the wearer’s threat on the target. , two-handed, reaches 63.7 DPS with a fireball for 83 to 101 damage and 16 more over time (1 per minute). The last three are crafted with Molten Core materials.
A note on the data: Wowhead does not yet have a Forever page for the items that Forever has not modified since Classic (Malown’s Slam, Frightskull Shaft, Force of Magma, Felstriker, Ironfoe, The Cruel Hand of Timmy, Gargoyle Shredder Talons, Venomspitter, Keris of Zul’Serak, Bloodfist, Barman Shanker). Their values come from Classic. Their presence in Forever is confirmed by the boss loot recorded in game, visible on our pages Dungeons & Raids.
Enchantments, stones and oils
Blizzard’s announcement also covers enchantments and consumables. For a feral druid, they therefore add to the weapon’s effect. The texts below are the official Forever texts. Stat enchantments (Agility +15 one-handed, +25 two-handed; Strength) exist too.
| Enchantment | Effect |
|---|---|
| When you attack, regularly restores 75 to 125 health and +100 Strength for 15 sec | |
| (new in Forever) | Regularly restores 350 to 450 health and +120 Strength for 20 sec |
| (two-handed, new in Forever) | Regularly restores 350 to 450 health and +200 Strength for 20 sec |
| Often deals 40 extra Fire damage | |
| Regularly freezes the target and reduces its movement and attack speed | |
| Regularly steals health from the enemy | |
| Regularly curses the target and reduces the melee damage it deals |
Stones and oils make up the second category of weapon consumables, with a duration of 30 minutes.
| Consumable | Effect |
|---|---|
| (weightstone, blunt weapons: maces, staves) | +8 weapon damage for 30 min |
| (bladed weapons: daggers, fist weapons) | +8 weapon damage for 30 min |
| +2% melee crit chance for 30 min | |
| 15% chance, when the weapon hits, to cast a Shadow Bolt; 30 min | |
| 10% chance, when the weapon hits, to cast a Frostbolt; 30 min |
In the wowsims model, a stone’s damage is added to each of the cat’s paw strikes (imbue_test.go file test, dense weightstone +8). Oils have a fixed chance per hit: a cat that strikes every second triggers them often. Wizard and mana oils give spell bonuses, of no use in animal form.
In PvP: control, slow, wear down
For PvP, the most useful effects fall into five categories: control, slowing, damage over time, debuffs and survival. A random stun cannot be planned, but a feral druid in contact with its target multiplies the chances of seeing it land.
| Category | Items | What it brings |
|---|---|---|
| Stuns | Dark Iron Pulverizer (8 s), Hammer of the Titans (3 s), Malown’s Slam (2 s), The Unstoppable Force (1 s); later Earthshaker (area knockdown, 3 s) | The target cannot act for the duration of the effect |
| Slows | Hammer of the Northern Wind (movement −50%), Frost Oil (Frostbolt), Enchant Weapon – Icy Chill, Keris of Zul’Serak (attacks −10%), The Lobotomizer (spellcasting 25% slower) | The target runs slower, hits slower or casts slower |
| Damage over time | Venomspitter, Keris of Zul’Serak, Blood Talon, Gargoyle Shredder Talons, Barman Shanker, Frightskull Shaft | Poison, bleed or disease that keeps ticking after the hit |
| Debuffs | The Cruel Hand of Timmy (−15 to all stats), Frightskull Shaft (Strength), Enchant Weapon – Unholy Weapon (reduced melee damage), Serenity (removes a magic effect, such as a shield or a bonus) | The target deals less damage or loses a protection |
| Survival | Fist of the Damned, Julie’s Dagger, Enchant Weapon – Lifestealing, Enchant Weapon – Crusader | Healing or life stolen during combat |
The values in the table come from the Wowhead Forever pages, such as the one for The Unstoppable Force, the Alterac Valley mace: 56.53 DPS, +18 Strength, a one-second stun, 156 gold.

The value of all these effects depends on how often they trigger in cat form, and the test described above is what settles it.
In PvE: effects that deal damage
Bosses resist stuns: these effects only work on ordinary monsters. For a feral druid in a raid or a dungeon, the sorting is therefore done on damage, multipliers and armor reduction.
| Category | Items | What it brings |
|---|---|---|
| Direct damage | Force of Magma, Volcanic Hammer, Masterwork Stormhammer (3 targets), Baron Charr’s Sceptre, Glacial Blade / Electrified Dagger, The Lobotomizer, Princess Theradras’ Scepter, Darrowspike, Bloodfist, Enchant Weapon – Fiery Weapon, Shadow Oil | Fire, Frost, Nature or Shadow damage on top of the paw strikes |
| Multipliers | Ironfoe (extra attacks), Felstriker (guaranteed crits for 3 sec), Malown’s Slam (+50 Strength), Enchant Weapon – Crusader, Enchant Weapon – Grand Crusader, Enchant 2H Weapon – Grand Inquisitor (Strength) | More hits, more crits or more Strength during a window |
| Armor reduction | Bashguuder (up to −600), Princess Theradras’ Scepter (−100) | Benefits all physical damage on the target |
| Stones | Dense Weightstone, Dense Sharpening Stone | Damage added to each hit |
Weapon DPS remains the base: 1 point of DPS is worth 14 points of attack power. The effects come on top, without replacing it.
The Manual Crowd Pummeler, the other option
The stands out: its effect is a “Use” effect, not an on-hit effect. This two-handed mace from Gnomeregan, a drop from the Crowd Pummeler 9-60 (about a one-third chance), is level 29, with 29 DPS, +16 Strength and +5 Agility. According to its Wowhead Forever page, “Use: Increases your attack speed by 50% for 30 sec.” with 3 charges and a 3-minute cooldown. The druid activates it, then goes back to its weapon.
The Feral rotation in wowsims accounts for this case, in the file presets.ts: “Supports an MCP opener from the weapon swap slot”.

Fifty percent more speed gives 50% more auto-attacks, and so more triggers for the main weapon’s effects and for the oils. Swapping weapons in combat remains to be tested in game.
