Nine classes, 240 macros, zero copy-pasting from an English-language forum. The WoW Forever Macros page just went live on kami-labs.fr: pick your class by its icon, click a card, and the macro lands in your clipboard, ready to paste into the game.

Behind each card sits a short explanation, the real spell icon with its tooltip, and a counter that tells you if you’re over the character limit. This guide walks through four traps that hit most WoW Forever macros during the beta, and how to use the tool itself.

The rank trap: your spell stays stuck at the old level

On WoW Forever, dropping a spell onto your action bar isn’t enough on its own. When you buy a new rank from your class trainer, the slot doesn’t update itself: you have to go back into your spellbook and place the spell again by hand.

It’s one of the most common traps in leveling, and it catches nearly everyone at least once. You level up, you pay for your new rank, and you keep swinging with the old one without noticing, because the icon hasn’t moved on your bar. A macro written without a rank number sidesteps the problem: it always casts the highest rank you know. /cast Spell Name is enough, the game picks the current version on its own.

The subject comes up again in our day-2 leveling article: the earliest levels are exactly where you change ranks the most.

/startattack: the trick that fires off white hits before everything else

Most melee macros share the same reflex: add /startattack right after #showtooltip. That line starts auto attack, the white hits that fire on their own without you pressing anything, the moment you hit the button, even if you’re short on energy or rage for the main spell. Without it, switching targets pauses your white hits until the next successful cast.

Take a Rogue opening with Sinister Strike. The macro looks like this:

#showtooltip
/startattack
/cast Sinister Strike

The principle works for most melee spells in the game: Heroic Strike and Mortal Strike on Warrior, Bloodthirst for a Fury build, or a melee opener with Charge. Just add the line, the rest of the macro stays the same.

To dig into the rage mechanic behind those last two spells, head over to our guide on Warrior rage on WoW Forever. Auto Shot had its own surprises during the beta, with a wand bug that Blizzard has since fixed: we cover it in our article on the wand Auto Shot bug.

Druid: forcing a shapeshift with an exclamation point

Druid is the class where WoW Forever macros really change the game. The ! symbol placed before a form stops a second press from kicking you back out of it, a small detail that matters a lot in PvP when you’re mashing your keybind under pressure.

Example to stay in Cat Form no matter what:

/cast !Cat Form

To shift back out into humanoid form, a separate macro does the job:

/cancelform

Caster spells like Moonfire or Entangling Roots carry the same line in front of them: /cancelform fires them off even while you’re still in Dire Bear Form or Travel Form, with no need to shift back by hand before casting.

The most useful case is the conditional macro for Dash, built on the syntax documented by the WoW wiki’s Macro conditionals reference page:

/cast [noform:3] !Cat Form
/cast [form:3] Dash

In Cat Form, one press is enough. Out of cat form, it takes two, because shifting form triggers its own global cooldown. The number 3 matches the order in which you learned your forms: if nothing happens, swap it for 2. Prowl and Shred work well with this kind of conditional macro too, once the principle clicks.

The full breakdown of changed spells and talents lives in our WoW Forever Druid guide.

Healers: healing without switching targets

This healing macro fits on one line, and it fixes a real quality-of-life problem: healing whoever your mouse hovers over without ever leaving your current target.

/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Flash Heal

The spell fires on whichever frame your mouse is hovering if it’s a friendly, living unit, otherwise on your current target if they’re friendly, otherwise on yourself. Three safety nets in one line, so you don’t reflex-cast Flash Heal on an enemy or a corpse.

How to use the WoW Forever Macros page

A gnome scholar writes on a parchment in front of a wall covered in class crests

Navigating the page takes three clicks. You pick your class by its icon among the nine available, Warrior, Paladin, Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Shaman, Mage, Warlock, Druid, then a filter: All by default, Essentials for the starter pack, Combat, Leveling, Healing, Pet, Utility or PvP.

Each card shows the real spell icon with its tooltip on hover, the color-coded macro text, a short explanation, and a counter like N/255, the character limit a macro accepts in-game. Clicking the card copies everything to your clipboard. Some cards carry a «To confirm in-game» badge: these are spells specific to Forever, with no documented Classic equivalent, that we’d rather flag than fake a description for.

A toggle at the top of the page switches macros between FR client and EN client. The detail matters: a macro needs the spell’s name in the language of your game client, not your browser’s. Sinister Strike on an English client, Attaque pernicieuse on a French client, it’s not the same text to paste. Plenty of players run a game client in a different language than the one they read guides in, so the toggle keeps you from ending up with a silent macro because the name doesn’t match any spell the game recognizes. Your choice is remembered from one visit to the next.

To install a macro in-game: type /macro, click New, pick an icon, the question mark tied to #showtooltip shows the spell’s own icon automatically, paste the text you copied from the page, then drag the icon onto your action bar.

The WoW Forever Macros page rounds out the Grimoire and the talent calculator: three tools to get your character ready before the game launches on November 4.
