The Chinese WoW Forever annual pass sells a rested XP tent four times faster

Golden adventurer's tent ringed with experience sparks in front of a campfire, with the French title text WOW FOREVER, LA TENTE À XP, EN CHINE (the XP tent, in China)

888 yuan, about 133 dollars according to wowforever.be: that is the price of the WoW Forever annual pass offered on the Chinese servers (《魔兽世界:无限》, run by NetEase). Inside: 365 days of game time, six bags, thirty repair bots and a tent that fills rested XP four times faster than an ordinary tent. The three European packs contain no bag, no tent and no potion.

Three days before the Chinese servers open, set for 5 November, the contents of the two packs were detailed. Blizzard nonetheless presents Forever as a slow-paced game. Does it sell a leveling accelerator with the WoW Forever annual pass in China? The sources answer on the contents, much less on what the tent really does.

Two packs, six bags and a tent

At 3:21 pm on 2 November, the account « 魔兽世界研究所 » (the World of Warcraft Research Institute) published the details of both offers on NetEase. The smaller one, the 启程补给包 (launch supply pack), costs 128 ¥, about 19 dollars. It holds 30 days of game time, four 10-slot bags, two 12-slot bags, 30 portable repair bots and a supply bag: twenty roasted quail, twenty « 晨露酒 » (morning dew wine) and low-rank healing and mana potions, ten of each.

The 启程典藏年卡 (launch collector’s annual card) goes up to 888 ¥. It repeats the whole previous pack except the 30 days, replaced by 365 days of game time, and adds three things: the 资深冒险者的探险帐篷 tent (Veteran Adventurer’s Expedition Tent in English), the Stillwater Fisher outfit (« 静水钓客 ») and the Gill’el pet (« 古鳍尔 »). The key sentence is in the Chinese article: « 休息经验的累积速度是普通帐篷的4倍 » (rested experience builds up four times faster than with an ordinary tent).

wowforever.be repeats the same figures the same day and adds: « Blizzard has not announced the packs for Europe or America. » Icy Veins also runs a piece on the subject, whose address points to players hoping these packs stay exclusive to China. The site blocks automated reading, so I could not check its content.

WoW Forever annual pass and European packs, line by line

The European contents come from our edition comparison, read on the Battle.net store on 26 October 2026. The Chinese contents, for the WoW Forever annual pass as for the 128 ¥ pack, come from the 魔兽世界研究所 article and from wowforever.be.

The gap shows on a single line: no European pack adds an item that affects progression. All three offers sell access to the Skyborne race, a mount and cosmetics, and the Epic and the Collection add 30 days of game time. On the Chinese side, the sources I read do not mention the Skyborne in these two packs, and I do not know whether the Chinese servers offer them another way.

What the WoW Forever tent is worth

Rested XP works like a reserve: as long as it is not empty, monsters killed give double experience. It fills when the character rests or the player is logged off. A tent that fills it four times faster shortens the time needed to refill the reserve, not the speed at which it drains. Someone who plays eight hours straight burns through it quickly and falls back to the normal rate. Someone who plays one hour a night finds it full again between sessions.

A comment quoted by SMZDM puts it its own way: « 还好吧,主要是给我们这种上班族用的 » (it’s fine, it’s mostly for office workers like us). No source I read gives the size of the reserve with the tent, or the speed of an ordinary tent. The « ×4 » therefore has no baseline: there is no way to say how many levels of rest the tent restores per hour.

Rested XP sourceWhat it doesWhat it costs
Sleeping bag+1% experience per minute spent lying in it, up to 3%, for one hour; also builds rest like an innOne quest, free
Legacy talent Well Rested, rank 5 (our legacy article)Rest builds 20% faster, cap raised by 20%, according to the Warcraft Wiki5 legacy points
Chinese tentRest builds four times faster than with an ordinary tent888 ¥ (annual pass)

These three levers do not share a baseline: a percentage of speed on one side, a multiple of an ordinary tent on the other. Lining the numbers up would give a false ratio.

What players say, and what stays open

At 4:04 pm the same day, SMZDM published an article titled « 魔兽无限888元年卡今天上架:一个帐篷,把“慢节奏”说破了 » (the 888 ¥ annual card goes on sale today: one tent, and the “slow pace” is exposed). The text carries the label « 内容由AI生成 » (AI-generated content) and says it is compiled from 121 authors: it works as a collection of reactions, not as a primary source. It recalls that Blizzard promotes a « 慢节奏 » (slow pace) for this server.

The harshest comments target the price of the WoW Forever annual pass. « 888连个坐骑都没有,就为了卖帐篷 » (888 and not even a mount, just to sell a tent). « 暴雪削经验不会就是为了卖这礼包吧 » (Blizzard surely didn’t trim XP just to sell this pack?). One player writes « 外服有年卡礼包,但没有帐篷 » (abroad there is an annual pack, but no tent), which the article itself leaves « 存疑 » (unconfirmed). On 27 October, Blizzard reminded players that gold bought from third parties brings sanctions, as our article on carries details. A paid shortcut then goes through players; in China, it goes through the publisher.

The race to level 60

An annual pass that speeds up leveling, from a publisher that praises a slow game: the contradiction is plain, and Chinese players point it out. It is less sharp than it looks, since the tent does not double XP, it extends the effect of a reserve, to the benefit of whoever plays in bursts.

No announcement says this pack will leave China. If it did, the question would be simple to ask: would the race to level 60 still start from the same point for everyone?
