Beta development notes BETA deployed to the beta realm on October 1, 2026 Source: official WoW Forever notes (Blizzard forums)

Level 30. That is the new cap of the WoW Forever beta since the October 1 build, and it comes with three doors opening at once: Excavation Site: Wetlands, a brand-new dungeon for levels 26 to 31, Razorfen Downs (from level 25) and Uldaman (from level 30).

On the class side, the Warrior gets the biggest rework: the Fury tree is redrawn almost top to bottom, three talents arrive, three others leave, and Rage from critical strikes doubles. The Druid loses Tiger’s Fury but gains a talent that turns Mana into Energy. Blizzard also tightens progression: dungeon quests give half as much bonus experience, and PvP gear costs about 50% more Honor.

The new talents from this patch do not have a tooltip on the site yet: they appear here as plain text, and will join the talent calculator with its next update.

Warrior

Warrior(Guerrier)

Balanced

A critical strike on a basic attack now gives twice as much Rage: that change reaches every Warrior, whatever the specialization. The rest happens in Fury. Blizzard found that Dual Wield Specialization was granting its hit bonus to both weapons instead of the off-hand only; its tests were skewed, hence a full new pass on the tree. The Specialization loses both of its effects, a new talent, Furious Precision, takes over off-hand hit, and Death Wish replaces Enrage as the prerequisite for Flurry. The stated goal: stop forcing points into Enrage to reach Flurry, and offer more utility early in the tree while leveling.

Protection changes shape without changing strength. The talents that work without a shield move up the tree so that a two-handed or dual-wield Warrior can dip into them as a PvP secondary spec, and Toughness is gone.

Going up

  • ▲Rage on critical strikes: a critical strike with a basic attack generates 75% more Rage.New
  • ▲Rage on critical strikes: a few lines further down, Blizzard raises that same bonus to 100% (was 75%). Yes, Blizzard changed its mind inside its own patch notes. No, this is not a typo on our end: we read it twice too. The second number is the one that counts.Changed

  • ▲Fury – Furious Precision: new row 3 talent that increases off-hand hit chance by 4/7/10%.New
  • ▲Fury – Raging Blows: now reduces the Rage cost of Cleave and Whirlwind by 3.Changed
  • ▲Whirlwind: always strikes with both weapons, no talent point needed. Raging Blows no longer has to provide that effect.Changed
  • ▲Fury – Gore Drinker: new row 6 talent, requires Enrage. After Enrage, Berserker Rage, Bloodrage, Death Wish or Bloodthirst, the next 3 melee attacks restore 0.5/1% of maximum Health.New
  • ▲Berserker Rage: available at level 30 (was 32).Changed

Paladin

Paladin(Paladin)

Net nerf

After being the most pampered class on September 24, the Paladin gives a little back. In Protection, block chance changes source: Redoubt loses a third of its effect while Holy Shield gains. At max rank, the two moves roughly cancel out for a tank who takes both talents. In Retribution, Champion of the Light turns far less Intellect into spell damage, and nothing makes up for it.

Going up

  • ▲Protection – Holy Shield: chance to Block raised to 30% (was 20%).Changed

Going down

  • ▼Protection – Redoubt: chance to Block lowered to 4/8/12/16/20% (was 6/12/18/24/30%).Changed
  • ▼Retribution – Champion of the Light: Intellect to Spell Damage ratio lowered to 20/40/60% (was 33/66/100%). Its tooltip also promised a Healing bonus that never existed: that line is removed.Changed

Hunter

Hunter(Chasseur)

Balanced

The Marksmanship capstone, Sniper Shot, now reaches 45 yards and extends the range of the next three shots: the clearest gain for the class. Survival pays the bill with a Deflection cut in half. Pets get their Aggressive mode back, after it was removed in an earlier build.

Going up

  • ▲Marksmanship – Sniper Shot: the 31-point talent now has a 45-yard range and increases the range of your next 3 shots made within 10 seconds by 10 yards.Changed
  • ▲Pets: Aggressive Mode is back, under the pet tab of the spellbook.Changed

Going down

  • ▼Survival – Deflection: Parry bonus lowered to 1/2/3/4/5% (was 2/4/6/8/10%).Changed

Reworks and quality of life

  • ◆Marksmanship: a new, more Vanilla-feeling icon for Improved Stings.
  • ◆Survival: a new, more Vanilla-feeling icon for Predator’s Edge.
  • ◆Pets: some tameable beasts had ability ranks too high for their level, now fixed. A pet may have « forgotten » an ability because of this bug; that should no longer happen.

Rogue

Rogue(Voleur)

Balanced

Two fixes pulling in opposite directions. A missed Expose Armor no longer wipes your combo points, but Setup stops granting points on your current target when the dodge or resist came from another enemy.

Going up

  • ▲Expose Armor: fixed a bug where missing it made you lose all of your combo points.Changed

Going down

  • ▼Subtlety – Setup: only adds combo points to your current target if it is the one you dodged or resisted a spell from.Changed

Priest

Priest(Prêtre)

Balanced

Shadow gets more reliable: Devouring Plague can finally crit and Shadow Weaving can no longer fail to apply. In exchange, two overly generous bonuses are closed, including Shadow Word: Death benefiting from Early Demise whatever the target’s Health.

Going up

  • ▲Devouring Plague: can now land critical strikes.Changed
  • ▲Shadow – Shadow Weaving: can no longer fail to apply.Changed

Going down

  • ▼Shadow Word: Death: no longer always benefits from Early Demise, only when the target’s Health meets the talent’s condition.Changed
  • ▼Discipline – Inner Focus: its Critical Strike bonus no longer applies to periodic effects.Changed

Shaman

Shaman(Chaman)

Net buff

Only fixes, but two of them give the Shaman what it should already have had: Totemic Recall finally restores Mana, and Disease Cleansing Totem really lasts its 5 minutes.

Going up

  • ▲Disease Cleansing Totem: now correctly lasts 5 minutes.Changed
  • ▲Totemic Recall: now restores Mana as intended.Changed

Reworks and quality of life

  • ◆Ghost Wolf: more visible in well-lit areas.

Mage

Mage(Mage)

Balanced

Combustion goes back to 3 charges and the scrolls from Comprehension can no longer be cast on the move. On the other side, the Mage’s two group debuffs, the Fire Vulnerability from Improved Scorch and Winter’s Chill, no longer roll a second resist: if the original spell hit, the effect lands.

Going up

  • ▲Fire – Improved Scorch: Fire Vulnerability no longer rolls a second time to see if it is resisted.Changed
  • ▲Frost – Winter’s Chill: its application no longer rolls a resist, since the original spell already had to hit.Changed

  • ▼Fire – Combustion: back to 3 charges (was 4).Changed

Reworks and quality of life

  • ◆Fire – Hot Streak: renamed Heating Up, since it no longer depends on a « streak ».Changed

Warlock

Warlock(Démoniste)

Net buff

For the Warlock, Hellfire can now crit, Affliction’s Soul Harvesting finally delivers the Mana regeneration it promised, and demons get their Aggressive mode back. The one downside: Drain Soul is now interrupted when you start casting another spell.

Going up

  • ▲Hellfire: can now land critical strikes.Changed
  • ▲Affliction – Soul Harvesting: renamed Soul Harvest, and now correctly grants its 50/100% increase to Mana regeneration.Changed
  • ▲Demons: Aggressive Mode is back, under the pet tab of the spellbook.Changed

Reworks and quality of life

  • ◆The Incubus model is replaced with a lower-resolution model.

Druid

Druid(Druide)

Net buff

The Druid loses Tiger’s Fury, and Feral loses King of the Jungle. In their place comes a talent that turns part of the Mana pool into Energy, Shifting Power, linked to Shredding Attacks. Bear forms gain Rage on critical strikes, every form becomes immune to Disarm, and Primal Bite generates twice as much threat.

Going up

  • ▲Bear Form and Dire Bear Form: generate 75% more Rage on a critical strike.Changed
  • ▲Swipe: bug fixed, it now gains 3% of the Druid’s attack power. The tooltip will only update in a future build.Changed
  • ▲All shapeshift forms: immune to Disarm effects. A Druid disarmed before shifting keeps the Disarm and deals reduced damage until it ends.Changed
  • ▲Faerie Fire: no longer resets your swing timer.Changed
  • ▲Feral – Primal Bite: threat generated roughly doubled.Changed
  • ▲Feral – Shifting Power: new row 4 talent, linked to Shredding Attacks. Cat Form only, 16-second cooldown: instantly converts 55% of base Mana into 40 Energy. It costs as much Mana as Cat Form, and benefits from effects that reduce the cost of shapeshifting.New
  • ▲Feral – Improved Shifting Power: new row 5 talent, linked to Shifting Power, that reduces its cooldown by 4/8 seconds.New

Going down

  • ▼Tiger’s Fury: removed from the game.
  • ▼Feral – King of the Jungle: removed from the tree.

General changes

The level cap rises to 30 and two dungeons join the eleven already open, plus a third, brand-new one. The trade-off shows in the numbers: half as much bonus experience from dungeon quests, about 50% more Honor for PvP gear. The developers tie the experience cut to tester feedback on leveling speed.

What’s new

  • ▲Level cap: beta players can now level up to 30.New
  • ▲Excavation Site: Wetlands: new dungeon, levels 26 to 31.New
  • ▲Dungeons opened: Razorfen Downs (from level 25) and Uldaman (from level 30) join the eleven dungeons already available, from Ragefire Chasm to Scarlet Monastery, by way of the Hall of Thanes and the Ruins of Lordaeron.New
  • ▲Barbershops: there are now barbershops in Darnassus and Thunder Bluff, all of them have barbers working, and city guards give directions to them.New
  • ▲Cooldown Manager: now supports racial abilities and the Rogue, and no longer shows one entry per spell rank for classes already supported.Changed
  • ▲PvP: Honor cap raised from 15,000 to 25,000 to absorb the new costs.Changed
  • ▲Professions: a number of Blacksmithing and Leatherworking recipes meant as random dungeon drops are now available.Changed
  • ▲Camping: campfires no longer damage players below level 5, and deal reduced damage to players under 90% Health.Changed

Going down

  • ▼Dungeon quests: the extra experience they give beyond normal quest values is cut by 50%. Some quest rewards are also recalibrated.Changed
  • ▼PvP: Honor costs for gear and upgrade tokens go up, by about 50% for most items.Changed
  • ▼Skinning: creatures can once again be skinned only once before disappearing.Changed
  • ▼Mining: fewer Poor Copper Vein nodes in starting areas.Changed
  • ▼Enchanting: crafted common and uncommon wands now sell to vendors for 1 copper.Changed
  • ▼Items: a Bind on Equip item whose appearance you have not collected becomes Soulbound when sold to a vendor (it used to become Bound to Account).Changed
  • ▼Gnome racial – Eureka!: no longer benefits periodic effects at all. Channeled spells do not count as periodic.Changed
  • ▼Undead racial – Cannibalize: cannot be used while the caster is immune to Physical damage.Changed

Fixes and quality of life

  • ◆Low spell ranks: hovering Spell Damage and Spell Healing on the character sheet now explains that spells cast at ranks far below your level get less from those bonuses and trigger talents less often. The developers’ example: a rank 1 Frostbolt at level 60 has a 0% chance to trigger Frostbite.
  • ◆Graphics: better rain visibility, the Ray Traced Shadows option removed until it is fixed, weapon sizes in hand and on the back made consistent across races, and a fix for the Night Watchman’s Torch causing lag.
  • ◆Camping: the Boosted Rest debuff gets a new icon and a rewritten tooltip; texts now say « mutually exclusive ».
  • ◆Savory Whimsyfin Delight now turns you into an orc version of the Ninja and Pirate outfits from Savory Deviate Delight. The previous transformations were placeholders.
  • ◆Professions: Shenthul in Orgrimmar now trains Windshaper Skyborne.
  • ◆Gamepad: pet stable interface and compact raid and party frames updated, gamepad UI bindings now static (rebinding only affects the keyboard and mouse interface), and macros placed on a gamepad action bar can be moved again.
  • ◆Quests: escort quests start even with 25 or more quests in the log, several quest items no longer drop in multiples or get shared by mistake, and respawns are faster in Hillsbrad Foothills, Ashenvale, the Wetlands, Duskwood and Thousand Needles. The quest « Kyle’s Gone Missing! » is added to Mulgore, and High Order Skyborne Druids can learn Cure Poison through « Power Over Poison ».
  • ◆Interface: matching icons at character creation with Standard Definition models, new art for the stables and combo points, full names in loot rolls, item suffixes correctly shown at the auction house.
  • ◆World: adjustments to world instances, and party leaders are no longer transferred when a party is created or changed.

Among this build’s known issues: enemies can parry and block from behind if you stand too close, and Retribution Aura uses the target’s spell power instead of the Paladin’s. The full list is at the end of the official notes.

Build summaryThis is the first build that removes class content in bulk: four talents and one spell disappear, three Warrior talents and two Druid talents replace them. The talent trees change shape, and a Fury Warrior build planned before October 1 needs to be redone.

The official realm launch is still set for November 4, 2026, and these numbers can still move before then. Every talent is detailed on the WoW Forever hub.
