What are Skill Cards?

Have you already leveled 34 times, burned 150k Mark of Ascension and you still have not managed to acquire the required skills to play Wind Rager?
Skill cards come to the rescue!
Skill cards is a mechanic that helps acquire specific skills during draft mode in future leveling session – they can only be activated on character level 1 to 9 – both on a newly created character as well on prestiged character.

PRO TIP: using Tome of Specialization II (etc.) at the maximum level allows you to select skill cards at max level(!) before selecting the first 4 skills!

There are two main types of cards you can get: Normal Skill Cards and Golden Skill Cards.
When acquiring the above-mentioned cards you also receive lucky cards – these are cards that do not guarantee but increase the chances that a given skill will be drawn.

To keep things from getting too easy, there are limits on the number of skills you can guarantee yourself or increase your chances of drawing them:

 • 2 guaranteed skills from normal cards,
 • 2 guaranteed skills from golden cards,
 • increased chance to draft 3 skills from normal lucky cards,
 • increased chance to draft 3 skills from golden lucky cards,

In total, you can guarantee yourself 4 skills and an increased chance of drawing 6 more abilities.

Normal Skill Cards

These are the cards you get when you exchange Mark of Ascension at Silas Darkmoon/Burth for Hand of Fate – when you exchange marks for hands of fate you also get 5xAbility Sealed Card and 5xLucky Sealed Card.
Opening a sealed card generates a random skill card that goes into the bag. In addition, the player also receives a random amount of Darkmoon Ticket – but more about that later.

Golden Skill Cards

Just like normal cards, you will also get these from Silas Darkmoon/Burth with the difference that you have to pay for these – a set of 5xGolden Sealed Ability Card and 5xGolden Sealed Talent Card costs [money=500000]
As with normal cards, opening a sealed card generates a random skill card and amout of Golden Darkmoon Ticket.

Card Collection

Cards that we have just received must be added to our collection by clicking on them with the right mouse button.

Card owned in collection Card not owned in collection

To open the skill card panel, open the character advancement panel (N by default). Then in the upper right corner, click « Skill Cards » [1].
We will then be presented with the following menu:

On the right side of the menu [2] are all the cards that we have in the collection. All you need to do is to select a specific card and activate it [3] – otherwise the card will not work.
Each skill has an assigned weight [4a] shown as gems. The sum of gems of all activated cards cannot exceed the limit shown at the bottom of the menu [4].
In the case of lucky cards, the situation with their activation looks the same – but they do not have a gem limit.

Cards exchange

If the card you drew is already in your collection, do not throw it away! Professor Thaddeus Paleo replace the cards that are in your bag with new sealed cards.
He takes 5 cards and, depending on their quality, hands the player a given number of new cards:
5x Common = 1 Card
5x Uncommon = 1 Card
Rare = 1 Card
Epic = 5 Cards
Legendary = 25 Cards

if you accidentally replaced a card you don’t already have in your collection, you can buy it back from Professor Thaddeus Paleo. Simply open the « buyback cards » tab and select the card you are interested in, and pay with gold.

Darkmoon Tickets

Darkmoon Ticket and Golden Darkmoon Ticket are the currency received during the opening of sealed cards. Both currencies can be exchanged for specific cards at Silas Darkmoon/Burth for a fee depending on the quality of the card:

In addition, tickets can be exchanged for cosmetic items such as transmogs (e.g. Darkmoon Top hat), pets (e.g. Darkmoon Cub), mount (Darkmoon Dirigible), and ticket bags (e.g. Darkmoon Ticket Pouch (25)) that allow the transfer of tickets between characters on a given account.
