ENDGAME | PIT PUSH | SPEED FARM BARBARIAN
Whirlwind Barbarian Build Overview
This
Whirlwind Barbarian build by Rob2628 is one of the most fun and effective configurations of Season 12 for mass farming. Built around
Tyrael's Might and the
Godslayer Crown, this Barbarian pulls all nearby monsters into his
Aspect of Grasping Whirlwind and obliterates them within seconds.
The combination of
Melted Heart of Selig (which converts incoming damage into resource loss) and the raw power of
Tyrael's Might
Rend makes this build nearly immortal while delivering massive AoE damage. Rob2628 achieved over 10,000 kills in a single Infernal Hordes session with this setup, unlocking the hidden achievement "Over 9,000" in approximately 15 minutes.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
- Among the highest AoE damage in the game thanks to
Tyrael's Might combined with
Godslayer Crown - Nearly immortal with
Melted Heart of Selig absorbing damage through resources - Very simple gameplay: maintain
Whirlwind and charge into monsters - Excellent mobility thanks to runes
Bac +
Jah (teleportation) and
Leap - Ideal for massive kill streaks and Infernal Hordes
Weaknesses
- Single-target DPS inferior to specialized Boss builds
- Dependent on monster density: sparse areas break the rhythm
- Vulnerable during transitions between monster packs without
Leap or teleportation available
Recommended Gear
Table de Loot
Godslayer Crown is the cornerstone of the build: it pulls all nearby monsters directly into your
Whirlwind, creating a devastating suction effect. Combined with
Aspect of Grasping Whirlwind on the same principle, the synergy doubles the grouping effect.
Tyrael's Might on the chest piece deals massive damage as long as you stay at full health, which is guaranteed by
Melted Heart of Selig as an amulet. This item redirects incoming damage to your resources instead of your life, making you nearly unkillable.
Fists of Fate in the gloves slot provides a random but powerful damage boost.
Tibault's Will in the pants slot provides additional resources, allowing you to reach approximately 700 total resource to maximize
Melted Heart of Selig absorption duration.
For weapons, prioritize Earthquake via the
Wallop temper, triggered by the
Tec rune (Ignite). The runewords
Ramaladni's Magnum Opus and Sabra complete the offensive setup.
Aspect of Anger Management ensures resource management.
Build Variants
The version presented here is optimized for massive AoE farming and kill streaks. If you own a
Harlequin Crest, it can replace
Godslayer Crown for more survivability and cooldown reduction, at the cost of the suction effect.
For weapons, a halberd with another offensive aspect can replace the current setup if you don't have access to the specific runes.
Whirlwind scales well with most two-handed weapons.
Rob2628 mentions that the
Hammer of the Ancients build is technically stronger in pure DPS, but for mass farming and the "Over 9,000" achievement,
Whirlwind remains far superior thanks to its constant AoE coverage.
Gameplay Tips for the Whirlwind Barbarian Build
To maximize your kill streak, join an Infernal Hordes event with at least 20 minutes remaining. The best maps are those with high density and a natural circular route. Avoid maps that are too open where monsters are scattered.
Use the mercenary Subo who unlocks the Seeker skill, displaying monsters on the mini-map. This allows you to always know where the next packs are and plan your route ahead.
Always plan your route one or two packs ahead. When approaching a monster-sparse area, use
Leap or teleportation (
Bac +
Jah) to quickly cross the empty zone without losing your kill streak.
Ignore items on the ground during your run: you can pick them up on the next pass once monsters have respawned. Also avoid the Mother: other players present add a random variable and monsters may be missing. Disable crossplay to reduce the presence of other players.
Use the
Elixir of Resourcefulness for an additional DPS boost. Soul Spire and Infernal Spire events each add 500 to 800 kills to your counter — take advantage of them when they appear on your route.
Arbre des Talents
Mercenaire
Paragon and Glyphs
The Paragon tree of this Whirlwind Barbarian build maximizes area damage and survivability. Focus on boards that boost weapon damage and generic multipliers, as
Tyrael's Might scales directly with weapon damage (approximately 200% weapon damage with a 600-damage weapon).
Glyphs oriented toward area damage and damage reduction are a priority. With
Melted Heart of Selig redirecting damage to resources, every point of damage reduction indirectly increases your farming endurance.
Hidden Achievement "Over 9,000" — Complete Guide
The hidden achievement "Over 9,000 Fresh Meat" is a Season 12 challenge that requires reaching 9,000 kills in a single kill streak. With this
Whirlwind build, Rob2628 completed it on the first attempt in approximately 15 minutes.
With this Whirlwind Barbarian build, the strategy is simple: join an Infernal Hordes event with at least 20 minutes remaining, activate your three shouts (
War Cry,
Rallying Cry,
Challenging Shout) and start spinning. Follow a circular circuit in three loops of approximately 3,000 kills each. Monsters respawn between each pass.
After reaching 9,000 kills, you unlock the "Fresh Meat" title and the hidden achievement. You can even continue beyond 10,000 kills — the counter does not stop. The
Elixir of Resourcefulness is recommended for an additional DPS boost.
