ENDGAME | PIT PUSH | SPEED FARM SPIRITBORN
Build Overview
This spiritborn payback build leverages an extremely powerful interaction between the
Payback mechanic and the
Revenge kill streak interaction to reach astronomical damage levels. By combining
Payback with permanent evasion, each Payback echo generates additional kills, allowing you to stack hundreds of kill streaks in just a few seconds.
The core of the build relies on triple resource scaling: the
Rod of Kepeleke spends all your Vigor on each hit, triggering Overpower through runes, while the
Ring of the Midnight Sun instantly restores spent Vigor on every critical hit. The result: an infinite spend-recover cycle that fuels colossal Thorns damage.
Showcased by @Rob2628, this spiritborn payback build dominates both Hell Tide farming and high Pit pushing, with the option to switch to a pure Evade version for Torment 7 Bosses.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
- Massive kill streak accumulation through the Payback + echoes interaction
- Near-permanent Overpower via the Vigor spend/recover cycle
- Extremely high DPS, capable of reaching billions of damage
- Smooth and satisfying gameplay: Evade + Payback on repeat
- Versatile: speed farming version and high Pit push version
Weaknesses
- Fragile in speed version, requires
Temerity for survivability - Relies on kill streak interactions that could be patched by Blizzard
- Requires several key unique items to function
Recommended Equipment
Table de Loot
The
Harmony of Ebewaka helmet is the cornerstone: it transforms
Payback into an Eagle skill through the Hall of Spirits, activating all associated multipliers. Without it, the build loses a significant portion of its synergies.
The
Rod of Kepeleke spends your entire Vigor on each hit, feeding a massive damage multiplier. Paired with the
Ring of the Midnight Sun, which restores all spent Vigor on a critical hit, the cycle becomes infinite. The second ring,
Aspect of Adaptability, adds a third multiplier based on maximum resources.
The
Shroud of False Death chest provides the necessary survivability. For pants,
Tibault's Will maximizes movement speed in the speed version, while
Temerity offers a massive barrier for the tanky version. The amulet reinforces Thorns damage, the build's primary stat since
Payback scales directly with Thorns.
Build Variants
Speed Version (Evade + Payback) — The version presented here, optimized for Hell Tide farming and kill streak accumulation. Uses
Tibault's Will for mobility and permanent evasion via the mouse wheel. Ideal for Pits up to level 100 and open-world resource farming.
Push Version (Giga DPS) — For Pit 120+ and competitive pushing. Replaces some speed pieces with pure damage-oriented items. This variant also exploits the Eagle double-dip with the Quest for hundreds of billions of damage per feather. This is currently the rank 1 push build for Spiritborn.
Tanky Version — If the fragility of the speed version is an issue, replacing
Tibault's Will with
Temerity provides a permanent barrier and near-immortality, at the cost of significant damage loss. Recommended for learning the build or Boss mechanics.
Gameplay Tips
The rotation is simple: Evade →
Payback → Evade →
Payback, on repeat. Assign Evade to the mouse wheel for optimal comfort, and hold the
Payback key between Evades. No other skill needs to be manually activated.
For permanent evasion, you need 3 points in
Thunderspike and a single Cooldown Reduction roll on your equipment. This combination is enough to keep Evade active indefinitely.
Before starting your farming session, activate your pre-buffs:
Elixir of Resourcefulness,
Queen's Supreme, then use the Thorns elixir and
Soothing Spices. Keep all these buffs active then begin your Evade + Payback rotation.
In Hell Tide, never stop moving: the feathers automatically fired by the Eagle's Hall target nearby enemies and maintain your kill streak even between monster groups. You can easily reach 30,000 to 40,000 kills in a single Hell Tide.
Arbre des Talents
Mercenaire
Triple Resource Scaling
The key interaction of the spiritborn payback build relies on three damage multipliers that stack from maximum resources. The
Rod of Kepeleke provides a first multiplier based on spent Vigor.
Aspect of Adaptability adds a second multiplier that scales with maximum resources. Finally,
Payback has its own internal multiplier tied to resource cost. This triple scaling is why the build stacks maximum resources on every possible equipment piece.
Kill Streak Bug
The build's most spectacular interaction: each
Payback echo generates additional kills beyond the actual number of enemies killed. Killing 5 monsters can yield 15 to 20 kills thanks to multiple echoes. Even Bosses count for 2 kills instead of one. This mechanic allows you to accumulate thousands of kill streaks within minutes, unlocking massive bonuses to attack speed, life, and resource cost reduction on Bloodied gear.
Paragon and Glyphs
The Paragon board is oriented toward maximizing Thorns damage and maximum resources to fuel the build's triple scaling. Key glyphs reinforce
Payback damage and skill multipliers, while rare nodes provide the minimum survivability needed for the speed version.
