Valve has pushed back the end of Deadlock’s first ranked season: it will now stop on Thursday 5 November 2026 at 2 pm PDT, not on 7 October as first planned. The date appears in the Valve post of 6 October that introduced Baba: “the end date for our first Ranked season has been pushed back to Thursday November 5th, 2026 at 2pm PDT, with the next season starting immediately after”. That leaves until this Thursday to finish this ranked season on the rank you are aiming for.

The ranked season ends at 10 or 11 pm in Paris

Valve writes “PDT”, the summer time of the US west coast (UTC-7). But the United States goes back to winter time on Sunday 1 November, four days before the deadline. France has already been on winter time since 25 October (UTC+1).

Two readings are possible, and Valve does not settle it. Taken literally, PDT gives 21:00 UTC, so 10 pm in Paris. If Valve means 2 pm on Pacific time that day, then in PST (UTC-8), that gives 11 pm in Paris. This calculation is ours, it does not come from the post. To be safe, count 10 pm on Thursday 5 November as the last limit, and do not schedule the decisive game down to the minute.

You will find the same date at Neonsect in its article of 7 October, which notes that Valve has not detailed what awaits the next season.

What Valve wrote about the end of the ranked season

The end-of-season rules come from another post, the matchmaking update of 30 July, which launched ranked mode. Three points can be read there. At the end of a season, the highest rank reached is kept forever in the rank history page. A commemorative item for that highest rank is given in the hideout (the player’s in-game hub). A ranked hub there also gathers the global leaderboards and the history.

Valve’s July post also describes how a season starts: all players go through 8 calibration games, after a partial reset of their previous rank, and nobody can leave calibration above Oracle VI. These rules were written for the first season.

Valve leaves several questions open. The 6 October post does not say whether the next season will reuse this calibration, whether the reset will be the same, or whether new rewards are planned. Valve only warned in July: “Future Rank seasons will likely have longer durations with splits in between”, with also recency requirements on the heroes played. For the rest, no official information to date.

Until November 5 to climb: what the rules say

What counts is the peak reached, more than the final standing. Valve talks about the “highest Rank” being kept, so the highest rank of the season. A bad streak after a peak does not erase it, according to this text. Better to aim for the next tier in the last days than to protect a rank you already hold.

The figures in the July post allow us to calculate the effort:

  • A win or a loss gives or removes about 250 points on average, with slight variations depending on the matchmaker’s expectation and win streaks.
  • Each subrank needs 1,000 points, about 4 net wins (our calculation). The last subrank before a new rank needs 2,000, about 8.
  • On the boundary of a full rank, 5 games of loss protection prevent an immediate drop. On the boundary of a subrank, there are 2.
  • From Eternus I, the number of points is no longer fixed: thresholds are recalculated every day according to the player distribution.

Ranked queue is limited to solo or duo games, and two partners must be at most one rank apart. If you have not played ranked yet, access requires 60 wins in standard mode, 15 wins with each hero you pick and at least 3 unlocked heroes. The time left is rarely enough to gather all of that from scratch.

The context matters too. Deadlock has passed 303,347 concurrent players while staying invite-only, and Nurse Harrow has been playable since 20 October. Valve adjusted Baba and Deadman Danny in its minor update of 14 October, after Baba’s 43.8% win rate at launch. More changes may land before 5 November, so reread the notes before a long session.

Where to check the result on the day

The ranked hub in the hideout shows the current season, the rank history and the global leaderboards. That is where the highest rank of season 1 should appear once it is over. Valve has not said when the commemorative item is handed out, nor whether the next season opens with a dedicated message: the Deadlock Steam news page will be the place to say it.
