Two side quests, two pistols held at once, and mods you can install on PS5 and Xbox. That is what version 2.5 of Cyberpunk 2077 brings, due this Thursday, October 22, 2026. CD Projekt RED published the full patch notes on Wednesday the 21st, the day before release. The studio added a list of fixes, and a trade-off that console players should know about before installing their first mod. Here is what this Cyberpunk update, free and named « Edgerunners 2 Update », contains.

Two quests, one set just before Edgerunners 2
According to the official notes, the Clampdown quest takes place before the events of season 2 of the anime, which arrived on Netflix on October 20. To unlock it, you need to have finished The Heist and two of Wakako’s gigs, then wait for her message. The quest grants a five-piece gear set inspired by King, and a new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, plays tracks from the series.
The second quest, Welcome to Paradise, requires The Heist and Street Cred level 15 (V’s reputation on the street). Richard Night leads a guided tour of the city there that ends in a mystery. The studio says nothing more.
Double Trouble: two pistols, but not just any weapons
The dual-wield combat announced on October 20 is narrower than expected. It comes through Double Trouble, a new perk in the Cool skill tree, along with four minor perks. It covers only pistols and revolvers in the Power category (standard ballistic guns, neither Tech nor Smart). Photo mode gets two-weapon poses, as well as frames drawn from the Cyberpunk card game.
Cyberware customization (V’s cybernetic implants) applies to arm implants: Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire and the Projectile Launch System. Five Glamdocs, marked on the map by a spray can icon, each run their own shop, with an introduction scene and a catalog of looks whose colors you can adjust.
- Five outfit sets at vendors: Maxiwear (Heywood, Arroyo, Little China), Jinguji (City Center), NetWatch (Kabuki, Japantown) and IconAmerica (Pacifica, Badlands, Northside). A sixth will arrive later.
- The NUS Infiltrator set is now sold in Kabuki and Japantown.
- Four TWINTONE looks for the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech, obtained through Twitch Drops (rewards earned by watching streams).
- Hairstyles previously reserved for non-playable characters, some of them limited to one body type.
Mods on PS5 and Xbox, without trophies
This is the broadest change in this Cyberpunk update. The game integrates mod.io (a mod hosting service): you browse and install a selection of player-made mods from the menu, on PC, Mac, PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2. The catalog is meant to grow over time.
The trade-off is spelled out in black and white. A modded save carries a dedicated icon in the load menu, and on console it no longer earns achievements or trophies. It is therefore best to keep a mod-free playthrough alongside.
Tarot, saves, DLSS 4.5: the rest of the notes
Twelve new Minor Arcana tarot cards are hidden in Night City. Scanning one starts a follow-up to the Fool on the Hill quest, and collecting them all grants a reward. The tarot menu now separates Major and Minor Arcana.
- Saves are grouped by playthrough, and the apartment and vehicle stashes get filters.
- A field of view setting arrives on console.
- On PC, DLSS 4.5 (Nvidia’s technique that renders the image at a lower resolution and then upscales it) arrives with frame generation up to 6X. FSR 3 upscaling is removed, while FSR 2.1, FSR 4 and FSR 3.1 frame generation remain.
- HDR rendering is reworked, with optimizations announced for ray tracing and the PS5 Pro.

Among the fixes, two bugs were genuinely troublesome. On PS5, changing the HDR setting did nothing. In the Things Done Changed quest, the Delamain taxi could get stuck after a collision and block progress. On Switch 2, a « Save failed – insufficient space » error is fixed.
When the Cyberpunk update arrives, platform by platform
On October 22, version 2.5 releases on PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store), on Mac through those same three stores, on PS5 and on Xbox Series X|S. The Switch 2 version and the Mac App Store version will follow in the days after, with no precise date. The notes do not give the download size.

The content is broader than the October 20 announcement, which only named the implants and dual-wield combat. In his article of the same day, Philip Watson (CGMagazine) noted that the game’s director, Gabe Amatangelo, had hinted that the big updates were over. He already saw in 2.5 the biggest update since Phantom Liberty, the 2023 expansion. With two quests and mods on console, the notes support his view.

Capcom has just shown with Dark Arisen for Dragon’s Dogma 2 that a late addition can win a game back its players. CD Projekt RED has nothing left to repair, and this one is free. The week stays busy: Paris Games Week 2026 opens the same Thursday, and Modern Warfare 4 releases the next day. We will test this Cyberpunk update after its release.
