What follows recounts the rumour as it circulated before the announcement.
A Nintendo Direct on September 10? In late August 2026, a leak reveals the broad strokes of Just Dance: Decades of Hits, the next entry in the dance game series that Ubisoft announced on July 7. The official Just Dance account responds within hours. Its message, posted on social media, promises « We’re committed to sharing the complete picture with you on September 10, and we sincerely thank you for your patience. » A precise date, an official tone, and a question that keeps coming up everywhere: could this be a Nintendo Direct, those digital showcases where Nintendo unveils its announcements on video, on September 10?
Ubisoft has never said the word Direct. The American outlet 9to5Toys, writing under Justin Kahn’s byline, sums up the caution of the moment on September 2. « Is this confirmation of a Nintendo Direct on September 10? Well, no, of course not. But it is certainly adding fuel to the fire here, » he writes.
On September 1, nine days before the rumored date, the Switch 2’s price climbed in the United States and in Europe. The picture rounds out with a precisely dated Ubisoft message, an announcement calendar that leans toward September, and a long list of games fans hope to see appear. Each claim that follows carries its own degree of certainty, from the most solid to the most uncertain.
The Proof: An Ubisoft Message Dated to the Day
Just Dance: Decades of Hits is announced by Ubisoft on July 7, 2026, without much detail about its content. In late August, screenshots and information about the tracklist circulate online ahead of schedule. The specialized outlet GoNintendo documents the episode under the headline « Ubisoft responds to Just Dance: Decades of Hits leak, which causes Nintendo Direct speculation. »
The British outlet My Nintendo News notes, on August 31, that the Just Dance franchise traditionally saves its major announcements for Nintendo showcases. Ubisoft has shared no release date, no trailer, and no price for Decades of Hits. At that point, September 10 was the only firm piece of information, delivered by a third-party publisher rather than by Nintendo itself.
Nintendo Direct, an Old September Habit
Nintendo never announces a Direct weeks in advance. Even so, the calendar of previous years helps gauge the odds of a showcase this month. The Japanese company held a Nintendo Direct in September in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2025. Only the 2024 edition broke the pattern, airing on August 27 instead of in September. YouTuber SwitchForce, whose predictions about previous Directs have already come true, points to Thursday, September 10. The leaker Nintendo Prime, the kind of account that shares unconfirmed information gathered from internal sources, goes further. He writes « lock in 9.10.26. That’s when the direct is. Book it. » Both sources mention a time of 6 or 7 a.m. on the U.S. West Coast, meaning 15:00 or 16:00 in Paris.
The list of games mentioned mixes the expected with the deeply hoped-for. Just Dance: Decades of Hits closes out the logical lineup, carried by Ubisoft’s own message. Ace Attorney 7 and a new Mega Man entry round out the announcements considered plausible. Monster Hunter Wilds on Switch 2 revives an already established port rumor, following in the wake of the Diablo 4 port expected around BlizzCon on September 12 and 13. The name that sets off the most discussion remains the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the kind of game that rebuilds an old title with modern graphics and technology. The series saw its first entry release on February 21, 1986, in Japan, which makes 2026 its fortieth anniversary. None of the sources consulted presents this lead as confirmed.
Switch 2: The Price Hike Pushing Nintendo to Respond
