Nine days separate Shrek 2 Remastered from GTA 6: the first launches on November 10, the second on November 19. Publisher Aspyr unveiled its game with a trailer that borrows the look of Rockstar’s, and a price that fits any pocket: 26.99 euros on Xbox pre-order, 26.09 euros on Steam.
A leak on October 16, an announcement on October 20
First sign, on October 16: a Microsoft Store page for the game appeared, then vanished almost at once. Gematsu spotted it: developer Aspyr, Xbox Series X|S as the only listed platform, 4K, photo mode and local co-op for up to four. No date, no price.
Confirmation came on October 20 at the ID@Xbox Showcase, broadcast at 7 p.m. Paris time. KeenGamer (Ali Amir, October 21) gives November 10, 2026, and the store pages show it: November 10 on Steam, November 10 on Xbox too, where the US site writes it as 11/10/2026.

A trailer that plays with GTA 6
Aspyr owns the joke. Video Games Chronicle headlines an announcement made “via a GTA-like trailer”, and KeenGamer had already spotted a GTA 6 reference in the video that leaked. The exact shots are not described here: none of those pages could be read in full, and it is better to describe nothing than to invent.
On the calendar, the joke looks planned: GTA 6 launches on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so the remaster lands nine days before Rockstar’s game, aimed at a family audience: the French Xbox page lists PEGI 3, the lowest rating.
What is in Shrek 2 Remastered
The original game came out in May 2004 on PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube, with Luxoflux developing the console versions and Activision publishing. This time, Aspyr Media is both publisher and developer. The official description calls it an action-adventure game “inspired” by the DreamWorks film, from Shrek’s swamp to Fiona’s castle in Far Far Away.
- Rebuilt textures, a reworked interface, cutscenes and rendering in 4K.
- A photo mode, and a cheat menu to skip the painful parts.
- Hero swapping at any time (Shrek, Fiona, Donkey), each with their own abilities, for fights, bosses and puzzles.
- Solo, or co-op for up to four players: local, online, or both mixed.
That is the selling point for a living room on a Saturday night. Four controllers on one screen, or four players online, or two and two. On Xbox, the page states that online play on console requires a subscription, Game Pass Core or Ultimate, sold separately.
26.99 euros on Xbox, 26.09 euros on Steam
For Shrek 2 Remastered, the French Xbox page lists 29.99 euros, down to 26.99 euros on pre-order. The offer “ends in 19 days” at the time of viewing, which is around launch. On Steam, the store’s public API returns 28.99 euros minus 10%, or 26.09 euros. In the United States, KeenGamer gives $29.99 then $26.99, and notes that the PS5 discount requires a PlayStation Plus subscription.

One point deserves attention for Shrek 2 Remastered: the French Steam page lists English as the only language. No French interface or subtitles are announced, even though the target audience is families. No statement from Aspyr on this was found.
Which platforms, and what remains to be confirmed
On platforms, KeenGamer lists PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, Switch and PC on the same day, with 4K on PC, PS5, Xbox and Switch 2 in docked mode (on the TV). The official site does link to the matching stores: PlayStation Store, Nintendo (one page for Switch, one for Switch 2), Steam, Epic Games Store and Xbox. The Nintendo and PlayStation pages respond, but their date and price could not be read. Only Xbox and Steam show November 10 in front of us.
On PC, Steam asks for 64-bit Windows 11 and 15 GB of disk space, without naming the processor or graphics card. The euro price of the PS5 and Switch versions is not yet displayed on the stores checked. The launch and gameplay trailers appear on the official site marked “Coming soon”.
