On October 27, 2026, an X account that reads PlayStation Store listings before games are released posted a figure: GTA 6 would weigh 210 GB on PS5. Rockstar has confirmed nothing, but the 210 GB size was picked up by Dexerto, Notebookcheck et Engadget. Pre-load opens on November 12, a week before the November 19 release: that is the deadline to make room.

The post of an account that reads the PlayStation Store

PlayStation Game Size (@PlaystationSize) reads download sizes from PlayStation Store data before games come out. Its October 27 post lists 210 GB for the Standard edition at $79.99, a pre-load on November 12, a release on November 19 and a midnight launch.

The figure is not isolated: Michael Gwilliam, of Dexerto, writes that Insider Gaming says it corroborated it on its own. The site published its own page on the 210 GB. Engadget takes from it that a day-one patch could add to the total, enough to eat a good part of the first day of play.

Why 210 GB is not a promise

Rockstar has published no size, so the 210 GB size remains a leak, not a publisher figure. The figure comes from a third party, and Notebookcheck (Vineet Washington) notes it does not detail how it was measured. Engadget (Ian Carlos Campbell) adds that it is unknown whether 210 GB is the total space required or only the game itself: installation also needs temporary space.

The same account has already diverged from the final label. For Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, it had read 96.7 GB for the main game, when the box said 166 GB. The 166 GB total included packs counted separately in the listing: 15.6 GB for the co-op campaign and 19.7 GB for Warzone. Reading only the base game listing therefore gave a figure well below the box label, and the gap could come from those modules. For GTA 6, nothing says the 210 GB includes everything, or that a day-one patch will not add to it.

Another unknown is the Xbox Series X|S: Notebookcheck expects a similar size, with no figure at all. The earlier rumors (320 GB, 750 GB) were only estimates. The one nearby leak, from the pirate Cyberleek, who mentioned more than 200 GB, concerned a development build and not the finished game.

The figure arrived before any official listing. Until Rockstar and Sony publish theirs on the PlayStation Store, plan generously rather than tightly.

What the 210 GB size changes on your PS5

An original PS5 leaves about 667 GB of usable space out of its 825 GB, according to Push Square. On that basis, the 210 GB size takes up nearly a third of the drive, or 31%. The calculation is ours: 210 divided by 667. For comparison, Red Dead Redemption 2 required 149 GB on PS4 according to IGN, a figure reported by Engadget: GTA 6 would ask for 61 GB more.

Original PS5about 667 GBabout 457 GB free
PS5 Pro (2 TB)about 1.89 TB, according to Game Rantplenty of room

Advice from us, not official data: aim for 250 GB free before November 12. That covers the 210 GB, the temporary installation space and a possible launch patch. If you buy the box, it contains a download code and not a disc, as Push Square reported based on Rockstar: the size is the same as digital.

Make room or buy an M.2 SSD

Before spending, open the list of your installed games and note what you actually launch. This sorting takes ten minutes and costs nothing. A deleted game can be downloaded again from your PlayStation library, and removing two or three big titles is often enough to free 250 GB. The M.2 SSD (a drive added in the console’s internal slot) is worth it if you keep five or six heavy games installed permanently or if GTA 6 has to coexist with a Call of Duty. Then check Sony’s compatibility list before buying. If you keep only GTA 6 and one or two other games, tidying up is enough, and the 210 GB size alone does not justify buying a drive.

As for the connection, count the time: at 100 Mb/s, 210 GB takes about 4 h 40 of continuous download, by our calculation. Pre-load opens at local midnight on November 12, according to Rockstar support.
