Two Alts for 16 Legacy Points: the Plan Blizzard Had in Mind for WoW Forever

Article by Kami

Sixteen legacy points: that is what a character can spend when WoW Forever opens, at midnight Paris time on the night of November 4 to 5, 2026, out of the 65 the account can earn. English-speaking creator NOHITJEROME explains in his video how to get them as fast as possible, following the logic of a Blizzard designer, and which talents to spend them in.

We recounted his plan with the official list of challenges. It holds up, but three points need correcting: one point too many in his count, a forgotten prerequisite talent, and a discount that does not apply to the mount.

16 legacy points to spend out of 65: what a single character can earn

Each completed challenge earns 1 legacy point for your whole account, and each character then spends those points in its own trees. At launch, the Warcraft Wiki lists 65 challenges. A single character, though, can only spend 16.

Classes27
Professions18
PvP12
Dungeons3
Raids3
Adventure2

Classes are worth 27 points: levels 25, 45 and 60, once for each of the nine classes. Professions give 18, which means the 150, 225 and 300 tiers in the six crafting professions (Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Leatherworking, Tailoring). Gathering earns nothing. Our Legacy Tree page lists all 65 challenges and works as a calculator.

The account can earn far more, and some thresholds unlock a reward. The 15-point threshold gives an Ironforge air rifle replica (a toy), 25 gives a Spectral Bear Cub (a pet), 40 gives a Spectral Bear Tabard. At 55 points, it is the Spectral Bear mount that NOHITJEROME highlights.

Counting for a character leveling alone from 1 to 60 gives 11 legacy points at most, with two crafting professions. Three come from levels 25, 45 and 60. Six come from the 150, 225 and 300 tiers in each profession. Two more reward the early and mid-leveling dungeons, through the Novice Spelunker and Experienced Spelunker achievements. With two gathering professions, the six profession points disappear and the total falls to 5.

So a character does not reach 16 points during its first climb: the endgame, PvP and raids bring in the rest. Principal designer Kris Zierhut embraces this in an interview with PC Gamer. He built detailed spreadsheets to guess the choices of progression-minded players. His conclusion: for a player in a hurry, creating alts, meaning secondary characters, and picking up the easy low-level points there beats chasing the hardest ones on the main character. His stated reason: « There’s less time investment ».

Seen this way, the system holds together: according to the video, 16 points stay within reach in about a month, as long as you spread the challenges across several characters.

The seven-step plan, recounted challenge by challenge

NOHITJEROME‘s plan has seven steps, all built on alts.

Step one: the main levels to 25 with two gathering professions, either mining and skinning, herbalism and skinning, or herbalism and mining. He mentions the addon « Forever Dual Gathering », which shows both resources on the minimap. We did not find it under that name on CurseForge on November 3; our WoW Forever addons page lists others.

Then comes step two: run every dungeon of the Novice Spelunker achievement with that same main. The list includes The Deadmines for the Horde and Wailing Caverns for the Alliance, so each faction has to cross over to the other’s dungeon.

Two lists shown in the video: the six dungeons of the Novice Spelunker achievement and the ten of Experienced Spelunker
NOHITJEROME, legacy plan video (2:02): the dungeons of the first two achievements.

Step three: create a « bank » alt. It receives green items, ore and herbs by mail. Ion Hazzikostas, the game director, told PC Gamer that an account-wide bank is being considered: « An account-wide bank is something I could see adding in the not-too-distant future ».

For step four, use your downtime to level two crafting professions on this alt. He picks Enchanting and Alchemy, the latter for the dyes that earned a lot of gold on the beta, according to him. Reaching 150 in a profession requires level 10: every alt has to be a character you will level one day.

Step five: a second alt gets two other crafting professions, picked among those you plan to use, for example Blacksmithing and Engineering for a warrior. He warns that these professions are expensive.

At step six, the main reaches level 40 and earns Experienced Spelunker, which means all the mid-game dungeons except The Stockade. The alts then go to level 20, which allows 225 in all four professions.

Step seven: the alts reach level 25, which earns one point per different class. The main then drops a gathering profession for a crafting profession useful in the endgame, Tailoring for a priest, which he levels to 225.

Recounting with the official list of challenges reveals a one-point gap at step 6. The video announces 8 legacy points; the count gives 7, because level 40 earns nothing and the class point comes at level 45. The following totals (12, 14, 16) become 11, 13 and 15. The 16th point arrives when the main passes level 45, which he will do anyway on the way to 60. So the plan works, with one more tier than the video announces.

His variant: a third alt to keep dual gathering until 60

NOHITJEROME will not follow this plan to the letter. In his video, he chooses to create a third alt instead of giving his main a crafting profession. The main keeps his two gathering professions until level 60, funds everything and sends materials to the alts. The alts level their professions without the main running dry.

The choice holds up. According to the Warcraft Wiki, the legacy system only counts six crafting professions. Three characters with two professions each cover them all: of the two plans, this variant is the only one that aims, in the long run, for the 18 legacy points reserved for professions.

Talented, the talent Xaryu finds too strong

In this part of NOHITJEROME’s video, streamer Xaryu says bluntly that he wants to see Talented changed. His argument: « technically, I’m like a level 26 in terms of my legacy talents ». He adds: « It just feels like I have heirlooms on an alt ». In modern WoW, heirlooms are gear that speeds up leveling alts.

The talent has 5 ranks. At rank 5, you gain talent points at every level starting at level 5 instead of level 10, without going past 51 points in total. That means 5 talent points ahead during the whole climb.

WoW Forever legacy interface shown in the video: three almost empty trees, only seven talents lit up, and the 5 PTS and 10 PTS markers at the top of each tree
NOHITJEROME, video (4:52): the seven talents open at the start.

One precise point then comes out of the video: you cannot aim for everything right away. Only 7 of the 21 talents are open at the start. According to the Warcraft Wiki, they are Working Overtime and Bountiful Harvest in Professions, Well Rested and Thrill of Adventure in Adventure, then Gourmand, The Quick and the Dead and Reinforce in Resourcefulness.

Fourteen others require 5 or 10 points already placed in their tree, according to the Method guide by Old Guardian (October 9, 2026). These are the « 5 PTS » and « 10 PTS » markers visible in the interface.

This is where the video misses a detail. Talented is not among the 7 open talents: it requires Well Rested at maximum rank, 5 out of 5. The real cost is therefore 10 legacy points, not 5, as the Warcraft Wiki and Method confirm.

THE RULE

Well Rested is not just a mandatory stop. At rank 5, rested experience builds up 20% faster and its cap rises by 20%.

Professions tree: Bountiful Harvest, the talent that pays

First tree presented, Professions is the gold one. NOHITJEROME puts the most profitable early-game talent there: Bountiful Harvest. It has 5 ranks and opens as soon as the first point is spent.

Each rank adds 20% rare materials from mining, herbalism and skinning. At rank 5, the bonus reaches 100%: you harvest double. The tooltip captured in the video shows rank 3, or 60%.

NOHITJEROME, video (5:12): Bountiful Harvest at rank 3.

These rare materials were worth between 50 silver and 1 gold each on the beta, according to NOHITJEROME. That is his estimate, not a price record. Our mining and herbalism guides cover both professions.

The same tree holds other economic talents. Performance Bonus first requires Bountiful Harvest. Bartering, at tier 2, reduces the gold price of items at all vendors: 5% per rank, so 10% at rank 2.

Adventure tree: Thrill of Adventure, a heal on every killing blow

The Adventure tree strengthens your character during the climb. Thrill of Adventure has 5 ranks. On each killing blow dealt to a non-trivial enemy, you regain 1% of your maximum health and maximum mana per rank, spread over 10 seconds. At rank 5, that makes 5%.

NOHITJEROME runs the numbers for a level 25 character with about 900 health and 1,400 mana: 5% is 45 HP and 70 mana per enemy killed. He concludes that this saves five hours or more on the road to level 60. That estimate is his own; no independent figure confirms it.

Thrill of Adventure tooltip in the calculator shown by the video: 1% health and mana restored per killing blow at rank 1, ineffective in dungeons, raids and battlegrounds
NOHITJEROME, video (5:27): the line that matters is the last one.

A clip from the video, around 5:45, shows the effect in action. A warrior, boosted by Talented and Thrill of Adventure, is healed on every killing blow by Victory Rush. He chains Shield Block and notes that the talent has no cooldown. His verdict: « I’m blocking all the damage anyway ».

The video adds a one-sentence caveat: the talent is weaker in a group, since you do not land every killing blow. The tooltip goes further. It says « ineffective in dungeons, raids and battlegrounds ». In those three settings, the talent does not work at all, even if you land the killing blow.

Thrill of Adventure is therefore for outdoor questing, solo or as a pair. A character who spends most of the climb in dungeons or battlegrounds will get nothing out of it.

Resourcefulness, and two ways to spend your 16 legacy points

In the last part of the video, NOHITJEROME presents the third tree, Resourcefulness, which he sees as the endgame one. For Great Honor adds 10% honor points at rank 5, Diplomat 10% reputation at rank 5. For Great Honor is only useful in PvP, while Diplomat speeds up all reputations.

For the main who wants to level as fast as possible, the video proposes a first split: 5 points in Thrill of Adventure, 5 in Talented and one free point in Bountiful Harvest. The count is incomplete. Talented requires Well Rested at rank 5 of 5, which gives 5 + 5 + 5 + 1 = 16 points. The plan fits exactly under the cap, but the video never names this third talent. The Method guide starts from the same base (Thrill 5, Well Rested 5, Talented 5) and puts the 16th point in Field Medicine.

His personal split starts with Bountiful Harvest, then Bartering, then Thrill and Talented, to pay for the mount from level 40. Two things get in the way. At 16 points, Bountiful Harvest 5, Bartering 2 and Thrill 5 make 12; 4 remain, which go to Well Rested, and Talented stays out of reach in the calculator. Also, Bartering cuts item prices at vendors by 10% at rank 2, not the riding skill. The apprentice one costs 100 gold at level 40 and includes the first mount, according to Method’s guide of October 21, 2026 covered in our article on level 40. Bartering’s gain therefore applies to extra mount colors and vendor purchases. The money comes from Bountiful Harvest.

Method guide of October 9, 2026 by Old Guardian: resetting legacy talents at the class trainer for 10 gold on the beta, 16-point cap
Method, Old Guardian, October 9, 2026: resetting cost 10 gold on the beta.

Nothing is final. Legacy talents reset at a capital city’s class trainer, for 10 gold on the beta. So you can level with Adventure, then switch to Professions once at level 60.

The video’s recap fits in one sentence: two alts are enough if the main takes a crafting profession, otherwise you need three, but dual gathering lasts until 60. NOHITJEROME asks his viewers whether they will level alts early or save the distant challenges for level 60.

Our take: on the first character, the Adventure split (Well Rested, Talented, Thrill) fits the goal of the climb. Bountiful Harvest makes sense on the main gatherer, once leveling is done. Adventure first, Professions next: the switch cost 10 gold on the beta.
