Build Overview

@MrRonit's Paladin Clash Build is the most powerful build the Paladin has seen in Season 13. Its concept revolves entirely around stacking Resolve: with 70 active stacks, every hit from ClashClash receives more than 560% bonus damage, sending your strikes past 10 trillion damage. This is the build that finally lets the Paladin destroy the game.

The core mechanic revolves around FortressFortress, your ultimate which generates 18 Resolve stacks every half-second and makes ClashClash free to use for its duration. Combined with the JuggernautJuggernaut Oath which consumes Resolve to further amplify damage, and gear pieces such as Heir of PerditionHeir of Perdition or Paingorger's GauntletsPaingorger's Gauntlets, the build reaches an absolutely staggering level of damage. Bosses fall in just a few hits.

This S-TIER build is designed for players who want to push the Pit to level 120 and farm Torment 12 content trivially. It is both explosively offensive and defensively solid thanks to the fortification/block combination, making it an excellent choice for solo farming as well as endgame challenges.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Colossal damage — over 10 trillion per hit at peak, Pit 120+ accessible
  • Simple and fluid rotation: FortressFortress + spam ClashClash on loop
  • Tanky thanks to fortification via ConsecrationConsecration + Holy Light AuraHoly Light Aura and an easily reached block cap
  • Built-in AoE thanks to Paingorger's GauntletsPaingorger's Gauntlets — hits nearby enemies at range
  • Near-100% FortressFortress uptime thanks to aura cooldown reduction and the ResplendenceResplendence glyph
  • Excellent scalability via the of Determination temper on all armor pieces
  • Best Paladin build of the season according to @MrRonit

Cons

  • Dependent on the mythic Heir of PerditionHeir of Perdition, which is difficult to obtain
  • Critical FortressFortress cooldown management — phases without Fortress considerably reduce your damage
  • Optimizing Resolve tempers is expensive and time-consuming
  • Less effective while leveling (endgame Mythic-oriented)
  • Requires several unique pieces to reach full potential

The Heir of PerditionHeir of Perdition as a mythic helmet is the most impactful piece in the build: its Greater Affixes of Determination at maximum allow you to reach and maintain the 70 stacks needed to fully express the build. The Mantle of the GreyMantle of the Grey as a unique chest directly amplifies the damage of JuggernautJuggernaut skills like ClashClash, and its Greater Affixes Resolve stack with the rest of the armor.

The Paingorger's GauntletsPaingorger's Gauntlets turn ClashClash into a true AoE skill: damage is reflected around the marked target, allowing you to hit nearby enemies from a safe position. The Shard of VerathielShard of Verathiel as a weapon completes the offensive with Critical Strike Chance Greater Affixes. For the shield, the Aspect of the MoonriseAspect of the Moonrise provides an additional defensive layer via damage reduction.

On the pants, the Aspect of the IndomitableAspect of the Indomitable reinforces survivability, while the boots carry the Aspect of InterdictionAspect of Interdiction — the Resolve + Block combination is crucial here as it allows you to reach the block cap and activate the Shield BearerShield Bearer Paragon node for a massive damage bonus. The Vanguard's AspectVanguard's Aspect on the amulet and the Aspect of the Juggernaut's CovenantAspect of the Juggernaut's Covenant on a ring ensure both survivability and Resolve, while the Aspect of Redirected ForceAspect of Redirected Force on the second ring optimizes the conversion of critical hits into additional damage.

Horadric Seal S13

The Righteous Will 5/5 set is the optimal choice for this build. Its set bonus offers two major synergies: a damage reduction based on the minimum number of of Determination stacks (additional defense directly tied to your core mechanic), and above all a 500% damage bonus against enemies immune to crowd control effects — which directly targets elites and Bosses, exactly where the build needs to perform.

As the unique charm, Griswold's OpusGriswold's Opus provides a 40 to 50% damage multiplier on critical hits, a direct amplification that stacks perfectly with the build's explosive offensive power. The fifth seal slot should be re-rolled to maximize ranks of JuggernautJuggernaut skills, further extending the effectiveness of ClashClash.

Gameplay Tips

The build rotation is straightforward but requires good timing management for FortressFortress. Approach a group of enemies, cast FortressFortress to trigger the immunity and massive of Determination gain, then immediately activate ConsecrationConsecration and Holy Light AuraHoly Light Aura to fortify yourself. Then spam ClashClash freely for the duration of FortressFortress — the Free Cast modifier makes the skill cost-free.

FortressFortress can be recast and repositioned as you advance through enemy packs: this lets you maintain its buff while progressing across the map. The Barricade mechanic even extends its duration when you kill enemies inside it. When FortressFortress goes on cooldown, actively use Defiance AuraDefiance Aura and Fanaticism AuraFanaticism Aura to reduce that cooldown more quickly. The ResplendenceResplendence glyph on the Resolve board automatically reduces FortressFortress's cooldown each time an aura skill is cast.

Managing Resolve is at the heart of every decision you make. Maximize your stacks before engaging Bosses: always aim for 70 stacks to benefit from the full ClashClash bonus. The JuggernautJuggernaut Oath prevents your stacks from dropping when you are hit, securing your offensive potential even in tough situations. K and Care runes add a freeze and vulnerability effect on your enemies, while Nagu and Gar boost your critical hit chance — you can substitute survival runes if you are playing challenging content.

Skill Tree

The Clash Paladin S13 skill tree maximizes both the power of ClashClash via the Resolve modifier (560% damage at 70 stacks), and the uptime of FortressFortress via active and passive auras. Fanaticism AuraFanaticism Aura at rank 15 with the Extra Stack Passive and Rite of Vengeance upgrades is your primary passive of Determination generator. Defiance AuraDefiance Aura at rank 15 with Rite of Might, Maximum Life and Bonus Healing consolidates defense and the life pool.

FortressFortress at rank 15 benefits from three critical upgrades: Barricade (extends duration on kill), Free Cast (makes ClashClash free inside), and Resolve Damage Bonus (4% additional damage per of Determination stack inside). Holy Light AuraHoly Light Aura at only rank 4 — its role is purely utility for fortification via the Additional Bounce, Potency and Rite of Mercy upgrades. Finally, ConsecrationConsecration at rank 1 with Hallowed Ground, Duration and Fortify allows you to quickly activate fortification at the start of your rotation.

Mercenary S13

Raheir is the build's primary mercenary. His BastionBastion skill provides a valuable defensive shield, while Ground SlamGround Slam allows you to control enemies and extend your attack windows. Raheir operates in Inspiration mode, which lets him actively intervene alongside you and provide constant support in the field, reinforcing the overall solidity of the build in the most demanding content.

Aldkin is used as backup via his Field of LanguishField of Languish ability (Field of LanguishField of Languish), which inflicts a 20% enemy damage reduction in an area. This layer of defensive mitigation integrates perfectly with the build's tanky concept and secures the phases when FortressFortress is on cooldown.

Paragon

The Clash Paladin S13 Paragon revolves around five carefully selected boards to maximize the two axes of the build: damage via Resolve, and defense via blocking and fortification. The absolute priority is to unlock all legendary nodes before optimizing glyph levels.

The Start board hosts the ChipChip glyph (L150), a solid offensive foundation. The Resolve board with the ResplendenceResplendence glyph (L150) is central: ResplendenceResplendence reduces FortressFortress's cooldown each time an aura skill is cast, and the board itself is packed with cooldown reduction nodes. This is the heart of the FortressFortress uptime system.

The Castle board with SpiritSpirit (L150) offers damage based on total armor, perfectly aligned with the build's robust constitution. The Shield Bearer board with SentinelSentinel (L150) is particularly powerful: SentinelSentinel grants 1.5% damage per of Determination stack, meaning over 100% additional multiplicative damage with 70 stacks — and the Shield BearerShield Bearer legendary node itself explodes your damage when the block cap (110% in combat) is reached. Finally, the Beacon board with HonedHoned (L150) amplifies critical damage and offers passive aura bonuses.
