Build Overview
The Singer Ancient Barb is an endgame Barbarian build designed by @Rob2628 around the ultimate skill
Call of the Ancients, which summons the three legendary Ancients — Talic, Madawc and Korlic — to unleash massive damage at your side. The archetype relies on a trio of shouts (
Rallying Cry,
Challenging Shout and
War Cry) that provide offensive buffs, damage reduction and permanent barrier regeneration, making the character nearly immortal in high-level Pits. This Pit-push oriented setup is the pinnacle of Barbarian durability in Season 14: it stacks Fortified, massive barriers from
Iron Skin and
Arreat's Bearing, and sustained damage output through upgraded Ancients. Ideal for players looking to push the hardest Pits without fear of dying, this build is a benchmark of the tanky Barbarian meta in competitive endgame.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Extreme survivability thanks to the permanent barriers from
Iron Skin and
Arreat's Bearing - Very high Ancient damage with
Call of the Ancients maxed at rank 15 and Attack Speed upgrades - Chained shouts (
War Cry,
Rallying Cry,
Challenging Shout) for constant, uninterrupted buffs - Excellent durability against Pit Bosses thanks to
Banished Lord's Talisman and Greater Affix Strength/Damage - "No bugs" setup — stable and reproducible at push 150+
Cons
- Limited mobility in this variant — the build sacrifices Movement Speed to maximize survivability and Ancient damage
- Requires the mythic item
Heir of Perdition to reach its full potential, which implies an investment in advanced endgame - The three-shout rotation requires rigorous cooldown management to keep the buffs active at all times
Recommended Gear
Loot Table
The centerpiece of this setup is the mythic helmet
Heir of Perdition, whose Greater Affixes of Strength and Maximum Resource maximize offensive potential and Fury generation, the essential fuel for chaining
Call of the Ancients. The unique
Pants
Arreat's Bearing are the pillar of survivability: their Greater Affixes of Strength and Barrier Generation permanently fuel the Barbarian's protective shield, allowing him to absorb the most violent attacks in the Pit. The unique amulet
Banished Lord's Talisman concentrates the most valuable offensive multipliers — All Damage Multiplier, Vulnerable and Critical Strike Damage Multiplier — making it an essential pivot of the build. On the aspect side, the
Aspect of Heavenly Strength on the chest reinforces overall resistance, while the
Wildbolt Aspect on the boots optimizes the uptime of
War Cry. The two legendary rings with Crushing Aspect and
Aspect of Apogeic Furor complete the Critical Strike Damage Multiplier stacking to push Ancient damage to the maximum.
Horadric Seal S14
This build relies on the Pride of Bul-Kathos set (5 pieces), the benchmark for Ancient-oriented Barbarian sets, whose set bonuses amplify the synergies between shouts and summon damage. The unique charm
Crown of Lucion completes the Horadric Seal by providing additional slots for unique charms and reinforcing the build's critical power. The seal is configured to maximize Critical Strike Damage as well as coverage of unique charm slots, in line with the Pit push orientation of the 150 variant. The Berserker's Crucible set is a viable alternative depending on the chosen variant, particularly for pure DPS-oriented setups.
Gameplay Tips
The rotation of this build revolves around maintaining the three shouts at all times: cast
Rallying Cry first to generate Fortification and boost speed, follow up with
Challenging Shout to reduce incoming damage and make enemies Vulnerable, then activate
War Cry to apply the primary offensive buff to the Ancients. Once all three shouts are active, summon
Call of the Ancients — the three Ancients (Talic, Madawc and Korlic) will immediately benefit from all your buffs and multiply their damage. Use
Iron Skin as soon as your barrier weakens: the Juggernaut upgrade makes you nearly impenetrable for its duration, which is particularly useful against Boss mechanics in Pit 140+.
Mighty Throw is your additional barrier generator and emergency skill — do not waste it, save it for critical moments. In high-level Pits, prioritize dense elite packs to allow the Ancients to deal maximum AoE damage simultaneously.
Skill Tree
The skill tree of this build is built around six key skills:
Call of the Ancients maxed at rank 15 with the Empowered (bonus damage) and Attack Speed and Damage Bonus upgrades so the Ancients strike faster,
Rallying Cry rank 15 with Fortify and Booming to maximize Fortification and extend the buff's range,
Challenging Shout rank 15 with Weaken for the massive Vulnerable debuff, and
War Cry rank 15 with Vulnerable and Slow to amplify damage.
Iron Skin at rank 4 takes the Juggernaut and Resolve upgrades to reinforce the barrier and survivability, while
Mighty Throw (rank 1) completes the kit with the Barrier upgrade for defensive emergencies. As is the norm on the S13 tree, the allocation focuses on active skills and their direct improvements — the passives from the old tree disappeared with the Season 13 rework.
Mercenary S14
Subo is the primary mercenary for this build. His Wired Trap skill places crowd control zones that allow the Ancients to focus on immobilized enemies, significantly increasing their effectiveness in the Pit. His
Cover Fire provides ranged offensive support that perfectly complements the Barbarian's tanky approach.
As backup, Varyana and her Bloodthirst skill (
Bloodthirst) represent an interesting offensive synergy: she amplifies damage during prolonged fights, which matches exactly the long Pit push phases where the Barbarian maintains his shouts and Ancients for many seconds. This primary/backup combination offers an ideal balance between utility and additive DPS.
Paragon and Glyphs
This build uses five carefully chosen Paragon boards to maximize Strength stats, critical damage and Pit survivability. The Starting board (Start) with the
Might glyph at rank 100 lays the foundations in Strength and base damage. The
Blood Rage board with
Challenger amplifies offensive bonuses in intense combat situations, directly aligned with the long Ancient activation phases.
Decimator with the
Dominate glyph reinforces effectiveness against elites and Pit Bosses, while
Warbringer with
Wrath completes the Strength and damage multiplier buildup. Finally,
Flawless Technique with the
Marshal glyph optimizes shout coordination and cooldown reduction to keep the buffs active at all times, ensuring that successive
Call of the Ancients always benefit from the full set of active amplifiers.
