Build Overview

The Apocalypse Warlock signed by @wudijo stands as one of the most devastating choices of Season 13. The idea is simple on paper but brutal in-game: turn the ultimate Apocalypse into a near-spammable skill thanks to the Annihilation upgrade that bypasses its cooldown. The principle consists of stacking charges via Hellfire skills until reaching 100 stacks, then unleashing an explosion that literally wipes the screen.

The synergy relies on the Soul Shard Ritualist coupled with the Command Valloch fragment, which boost Occult skills while passively and actively generating Overpower stacks. Combined with The Hemat Stone, the amulet doubles the Soul Shard bonuses and pushes the multipliers to indecent levels.

The build clears entire packs at long range thanks to the Hands of the WorldbreakerHands of the Worldbreaker, which transform Apocalypse into a sigil skill with up to 400% bonus damage based on the kills stored by Sigil of Chaos. The Rite of the Nameless set finalizes the combo by recreating all sigils simultaneously on each cast, fully automating the rotation. wudijo pushes it in hardcore at T12 with a defensive charm equipped, which speaks volumes about its power level.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Colossal AoE burst: a 100-stack Apocalypse one-shots an entire screen
  • Excellent Boss behavior thanks to stacking via Umbral Chains and the Survivor Damage multiplier
  • Build viable from level 34 (when Umbral Chains unlocks)
  • Valid for hardcore selfound up to T15+, easy push beyond T120 in endgame
  • Rotation simplified by the Rite of the Nameless set: sigils automated

Cons

  • Single defensive slot on the chestpiece, which weakens survival against difficulty spikes
  • Heavily supported by Pyrosis, which multiplies damage against "Healthy" targets: the 50%-0% window is noticeably longer
  • Manual Dominance management required via Command Valloch every 20 seconds
  • Requires significant gear investment to reach full potential (5/5 set + uniques)

Helmet — Heir of Perdition (Endgame): the mythic piece that delivers a massive boost to all skill ranks and crit chance. Part of wudijo's BIS endgame. As a transition, a legendary helm with Aspect of the ProtectorAspect of the Protector is a solid alternative.

Chest — Fleshwrit CarapaceFleshwrit Carapace: indispensable. This unique grants a huge damage multiplier on sigil skills and automatically provides the kills needed to ramp up Sigil of Chaos. It's an offensive slot on a normally defensive piece — hence the build's overall fragility.

Gloves — Hands of the WorldbreakerHands of the Worldbreaker: central piece of the build. These gloves requalify Apocalypse as a sigil skill and grant up to 400% bonus damage based on the kills accumulated by Sigil of Chaos. Without this item, the entire combo collapses.

Pants — Legendary with Aspect of Heavenly StrengthAspect of Heavenly Strength: this is what allows you to wield a two-handed weapon while keeping a shield or focus for survival. wudijo makes it the near-mandatory aspect of the build because of the pressure on defense.

Boots — Legendary with Aspect of DisobedienceAspect of Disobedience in Starter, then Tempest Roar or any mobility aspect in Endgame. Aim for Movement SpeedMovement Speed as a Greater Affix for fluid play.

Amulet — The Hemat StoneThe Hemat Stone: doubles both passive and active effects of your Soul Shard and its fragment. Combined with Ritualist + Command Valloch, it's a massive boost of OverpowerOverpower stacks and AoE.

Rings — Legendary Soulwatch HoopSoulwatch Hoop ×2: configure them with Aggressive Aspect, Crushing Aspect and Conceited Aspect according to available rolls. Rule of thumb: always keep Crushing Aspect, which boosts damage against Fortified enemies (which Dark Prison permanently applies on yourself).

Weapon — Two-handed DemonbladeDemonblade with Cremator's Aspect: the signature aspect that scales your OverpowerOverpower to delirious levels. The 2H version is non-negotiable because of Aspect of Heavenly StrengthAspect of Heavenly Strength on the legs. Prioritize X2 Life or X2 Damage to Vulnerable Greater for survival or burst.

Build Variants

wudijo details three distinct progression stages. The Starter phase plays from level 34 with no specialty gear — Apocalypse is already active and Umbral Chains handles the stacking. You ramp up the tiers by picking up the first useful pieces via Hands of the WorldbreakerHands of the Worldbreaker and Aspect of Heavenly StrengthAspect of Heavenly Strength.

The Midgame phase adds Fleshwrit CarapaceFleshwrit Carapace, The Hemat StoneThe Hemat Stone and the Rite of the Nameless 5/5 set, which automates all sigils. At this stage, you start chaining Bloodied Sigils in T11/T12 without difficulty.

The Mythic Endgame introduces Heir of Perdition on the helm and finalizes the critical Greater Affixes (X2 Crit Damage Greater on the gloves, X2 Damage to Vulnerable Greater on the amulet). This is also when T120+ pushing unlocks with an autonomous rotation.

wudijo also mentions an Endgame Chains PIT PUSH variant oriented for Pit pushing, which swaps Sigil of Chaos for Sigil of Subversion 15/15 and keeps Umbral Chains at full. Reserved for true high-end play.

Horadric Seal S13

The build's talisman revolves around the active Rite of the Nameless 5/5 set (Phoba, Fer, Mlor, Linta, Beru), which automates the simultaneous recast of all your sigils — it's the element that turns the rotation into something almost passive. The Legendary Seal +1 slot allows adding a 6th charm: wudijo inserts an Endurance Faith unique for hardcore survival (the only really reliable defensive slot of the build), with Mologs or Hammer Stone as offensive softcore alternatives.

Gameplay Tips

Standard rotation: Command Valloch at the start of a run to stack OverpowerOverpower up to 16, then spam Umbral Chains to stack Annihilation tiers. At 100 stacks, drop Apocalypse on the pack — the screen vanishes. Re-press Command Valloch every 20 seconds to keep OverpowerOverpower capped — it's the only mechanic you actively need to manage.

On Boss: Doom applies the permanent hex that extends the Survivor Damage window from 2 to 6 seconds — a single tap at the start of the fight is enough. The rest is classic chain → apocalypse. The Boss will take more hits in the 50%-0% phase due to Pyrosis, which only works on "Healthy" targets — that's normal.

Resource sustain: Command Valloch grants 500% Wrath regen for 6 seconds on each active cast — that's plenty to spam Umbral Chains without any basic skill. The Unbound glyph at 150 adds a comfortable +25% regen, which makes the build fully autonomous on resources.

Automated Dark Prison: the rune (Igny + Brit, or Zan + Brit) auto-casts Dark Prison around you, granting permanent Fortified, Weakening, enemy slow and damage reduction. You can replace the rune with manual placement on the bar, but it's less smooth.

Survival: you only have one true defensive slot (the chestpiece), so aim for Resistance All as a Greater Affix on the legs, Maximum Life on every available roll, and masterwork life as a priority. Target 2-3M toughness in combat. Endurance Faith as a talisman is the absolute safety net in hardcore.

Talent Tree

Mercenary

wudijo brings Raheir as the main mercenary for his combo BastionBastion + Ground SlamGround Slam. BastionBastion grants a large regular shield that compensates for the build's chronic fragility, while Ground SlamGround Slam brings useful soft control to handle dense packs during the Apocalypse ramp.

The reinforcement Aldkin with Field of LanguishField of Languish applies a fearsome AoE debuff that synergizes with Pyrosis by keeping targets vulnerable long enough to optimize your burst window. Once the pack drops below 50% HP, the apocalypse sigil + Aldkin debuff combo finishes the job.

Paragon and Glyphs

The Apocalypse Warlock Paragon articulates five endgame boards around offensive legendary nodes. The Starter Board with Entropy as the main glyph lays down the regen and sustain foundation. wudijo recommends doing a Board Rush at sub-200 paragon to quickly grab the most impactful legendary nodes before respeccing.

Pyrosis with its Empowered 150 glyph is the central board: it brings the +450% damage against "Healthy" targets that turn every Apocalypse into a screen-wide one-shot. Ritualism with Unbound 150 stabilizes resource regen and Wrath regeneration, which keeps the entire passive rotation running.

The last two boards Greater Hex (glyph Hellforge) and Chaos (glyph Occultist) finalize the scaling. The Chaos legendary node notably slows the decay of your OverpowerOverpower stacks by granting 2 stacks for every 1 lost — that's what makes maintaining Dominance so simple. At 800+ paragon, target the 5 glyphs at level 100/100 with masterwork on life to comfortably tackle T120 push.
