LEVELING | PTR DEMONISTE
⚠️ PTR Build — Test server
This build was only tested on the public test realm (PTR) and may receive major changes at the official release.
Build Overview
This Warlock Blazing Scream express leveling build by Mekuna is, in his own words, the fastest way to take a Warlock from level 1 to level 70 in Season 15, and the same core then carries you from Torment 1 to Torment 12. The idea fits in three points. Follow the planner's leveling path point by point. Alternate Command Fallen and Blazing Scream before level 15. Then live in permanent Demonform as soon as Command Abodian is unlocked through the class mechanic.
Mekuna timed the climb: expect one to three hours if you follow the guide, up to five if you take your time in the campaign. Gear barely matters. He reached level 70 in magic and rare items, with a single Unique that did nothing for the build and not one useful Legendary. His video focuses on the Warlock mechanic and the skill rotation, not on the campaign route itself.
Pros and Cons
✅ Strengths
- Level 1 to level 70 in one to three hours
- No Legendary Aspect or specific item required
- Near-permanent Demonform: +20% Maximum Life and +30% Demonic skill damage
- Good mobility between Nether Step and riding Abodian
- The rotation stays the same from Torment 1 to Torment 12
❌ Weaknesses
- Everything rests on the leveling path: a point placed too late delays the power spike
- Only a two-skill rotation before level 15
- No Paragon planned, to be rebuilt with the endgame build at level 70
- Tested on the test server, adjustments remain possible at launch
Recommended Gear
Loot Table
Mekuna says it several times: while leveling, gear barely matters. Equip every upgrade you find without overthinking it, and keep only a few guidelines in mind. Willpower is the Warlock's main stat, so it is the one to look for first on items. For defense, Maximum Life comes before Armor, then All Resistances.
The grid on the side mirrors Mekuna's planner: a Legendary in every slot, each with a suggested Aspect. Treat it as a rough guide, not a shopping list. If you find a useful Aspect, imprint it. If a socket is empty, drop in any gem or rune: they are worth nothing at this stage, so there is no point saving them for later. A Unique found along the way is almost always better than a random item, just read its effect before equipping it. Also remember to check vendors regularly for gear upgrades.
Horadric Seal S15
Mekuna's planner sets no seal and no charm for this phase, and that is deliberate. His advice fits in one sentence: equip the seal you find in the middle, fill the charm slots with whatever drops, and forget about it. If you can complete a set bonus along the way, great, but it is not a goal during the climb. The talisman becomes a real lever at level 70, with the endgame build.
Gameplay Tips
Rule number one, the one Mekuna calls the only hard part of the whole leveling: follow the planner's leveling path 100%. Open the "Leveling Path" tab, put it on a second screen, and place each point at the level shown. A concrete example: the Orbital upgrade of Blazing Scream unlocks at level 15. Taking it at level 20 means playing five levels without it, and Mekuna built this path so that every power spike lands at the right moment.
Play on Normal difficulty. Nothing justifies raising the difficulty during the campaign, the goal is speed. At levels 15 and 30, pick your class mechanics immediately. The Vanguard Shard at level 15 gives you Command Abodian, then the Warden Fragment at level 30 strengthens Demonform further. Mekuna insists: these are the two biggest power gains of the entire climb.
Against a big pack of elites, or during a Helltide, the sequence does not change. Summon Abodian and ride him to chain the enemies and pull them together, which puts you in Demonform. Then channel Blazing Scream in the middle of the pack. If you are taking too much damage, cast Dark Prison to shore up your toughness. If damage is lacking, add Terror Swarm. Keep Nether Step to move between two packs.
Talent Tree
The final tree at level 70 puts 83 points into only five skills. Blazing Scream is maxed out with its Impact Velocity, Damage and Orbital upgrades. Command Fallen stays at 9 ranks, with Wrath, Dominance and Meat Shields. The other three skills are raised to 15 ranks: Nether Step for mobility, Dark Prison for survival, Terror Swarm for area damage.
The order of the first points is worth remembering, and Mekuna walks through it in the video. At level 2, after talking to the two characters marked in purple in the first town, take Command Fallen. Then come Blazing Scream, then Nether Step, then Wrath and Damage, then Dominance and Impact Velocity. Level 15 unlocks Orbital, and from there the tree above guides you all the way to level 70.
Mercenary S15
Mekuna simply reminds you to hire your mercenary as soon as one becomes available. On his planner, Subo accompanies the Warlock, with
Wire Trap and
Trip Mines to control and slow the packs you gather with Abodian.
As reinforcement, Raheir steps in with
Bastion, a welcome protective bubble while you channel Blazing Scream in melee range. Nothing mandatory here, but both picks fit the build's playstyle well.
Paragon
No Paragon board is planned in this build, and it is not an oversight: boards only unlock from level 70, so they are useless during the climb. Mekuna switches to his endgame build as soon as he hits 70 to start building the Paragon, with a detailed progression from Torment 1 to Torment 12 announced for the season launch. According to him, a player who knows the game reaches Torment 12 in ten to twenty hours with this foundation, keeping Blazing Scream all the way.
Warlock Blazing Scream express leveling build: permanent Demonform
All the power of the Warlock Blazing Scream express leveling build comes from Demonform, and Mekuna keeps it active almost constantly. The Vanguard Shard taken at level 15 grants you Command Abodian. The demon bites and claws passively, and when you ride him, he chains the enemies, pulls them toward you and puts you into Demonform. This form increases your Maximum Life by 20% and the damage of your Demonic skills by 30%, which includes Blazing Scream and Command Fallen.
The key point: every hit of Blazing Scream refreshes the duration of Demonform. As long as you channel, it does not drop. If it ends anyway, call Abodian back and the form returns right away, its cooldown is short. At level 30, the Warden Fragment adds another 30% damage to Hellfire and Demonology skills while in Demonform, and Blazing Scream ticks both boxes. Free damage and free toughness, in exchange for a single habit: never let the form expire.
Rotation before and after level 15
Before level 15, there are only two skills. Blazing Scream spends your Wrath, Command Fallen regenerates it. Alternate the two, nothing more subtle than that, and you reach level 15 effortlessly. From there, the full rotation settles in and will not change until level 70, or even much after: Abodian to group up and enter the form, Blazing Scream channeled to burn everything, Dark Prison to tank, Terror Swarm for large groups, a few Command Fallen if Wrath runs low.
Once at level 70, this rotation remains the foundation of Mekuna's endgame build. Only gear, the talisman and the Paragon get layered on top, the Abodian then Blazing Scream loop does not change.
