PIT PUSH | SPEED FARM DEMONISTE

Article by Kami

Build author: @AceOfSpades

Build Overview

This Warlock build revolves entirely around Metamorphosis: staying in demon form permanently to stack massive damage multipliers while soaking up hits thanks to a very generous damage reduction. Originally pushed to rank 1 on the Pit ladder by its creator with still-imperfect gear, this Blazing Scream build was later picked up and refined by @AceOfSpades into a more versatile, less demanding, and noticeably tankier version than the pure pushing variant, while still comfortably holding its own at T12. The Destruction Demon upgrade turns every skill cast into a source of growing Hellfire damage (at the cost of self-immolation), and this exact risk management — leaving the form via FlickerstepFlickerstep at the right moment to reset the cooldown and come back fresh — is what makes this build so satisfying.

Strengths and Weaknesses

✅ Strengths

  • Massive burst damage thanks to Destruction Demon and permanent volatility
  • Very fun to play: the FlickerstepFlickerstep loop and constant movement with RampageRampage
  • Surprisingly tanky for a normally squishy class, thanks to stacked damage reduction
  • Smooth resource management between Tibault's WillTibault's Will and the permanent Unstoppable status from demon form

❌ Weaknesses

  • AoE coverage is a bit limited compared to other pure-AoE Warlock builds
  • Solid in the Pit, but not the highest-pushing version (the harsher pure pushing variant goes further, at the cost of comfort)
  • Requires careful management of entering/exiting Metamorphosis to avoid burning yourself out

Three unique items form the backbone of the build. Tibault's WillTibault's Will is the single most important item: it regenerates resources and boosts damage as long as you're Unstoppable, a status that's permanent while in Metamorphosis. FlickerstepFlickerstep is the second must-have piece, as it's the only reliable way to exit demon form without wasting time and to re-enter it almost instantly. Moloch's Beating FlameMoloch's Beating Flame then further boosts Hellfire damage and pushes your core stat by up to +50% as long as your skills are Volatile. On the weapon, Anathema of the PrimesAnathema of the Primes turns Archdemon skills into Core Skills, letting you spam RampageRampage without worrying about the Wrath cost.

On the aspect side, the Aspect of Diabolical Armor on the helm combined with the Aspect of Heavenly StrengthAspect of Heavenly Strength on the chest gives a very comfortable stacked damage reduction, especially against the fire damage you deal to yourself. The Aspect of Ignition on the gloves adds up to 60% damage as long as the target is affected by volatility, while the Malicious Aspect and Crushing Aspect on the rings cover vulnerable damage and raw fire damage. Prioritize attack speed on at least three slots to smooth out your movement with RampageRampage, and keep an eye on barrier generation, which contributes noticeably to the build's survivability.

Horadric Seal S14

This build relies on two complementary charm sets. The Flesh of Abaddon set (Phoba, Mlor, Linta and Fer) increases damage while in demon form and grants maximum life for every enemy killed — including your own summoned demons — with an extra bonus while you're Volatile. The Ritual of the Nameless set (Beru and Mlor), not mandatory but very comfortable, adds damage reduction and extra damage when combined with Sigil of Chaos. The seal used is the Seal of the Diamond Mind, which unlocks an extra Unique Charm slot to fit all six charms at once.

Gameplay Tips

Stay in Metamorphosis at all times: it's the heart of the build. As soon as self-immolation gets too heavy, use FlickerstepFlickerstep through a pack of enemies to leave the form without losing time, then immediately re-enter Metamorphosis once the cooldown is back — you'll lose your accumulated damage stack but avoid burning yourself to death. For a damage burst, drop your Sigil of Chaos on the ground and chain your casts inside it: this applies volatility to all your skills for 10 seconds even after you leave it. Blazing Scream remains your main damage skill — it bounces off walls, so position the boss against a wall to hit it multiple times with a single cast. Bombardment, on the other hand, works more like a buff you stack up to five times and simply refresh from time to time rather than spamming actively.

Talent Tree

The tree maxes out Blazing Scream and Bombardment, with Focused Target for extra damage against bosses and Endless Barrage to turn Bombardment into a persistent Hellfire skill. Tortured Wretch is maxed out as a defensive skill: it fortifies and absorbs damage, with handy reduced duration and cost. On RampageRampage, the Wrath generation nodes tied to lesser demons round out the resource loop, while Sigil of Chaos is topped off with duration and volatility cast nodes to maximize the buff window. Finally, Metamorphosis gets every remaining point to maximize the damage ramp-up and Destruction Demon.

Mercenary S14

Raheir is hired as the main mercenary for his extra resistances, which noticeably offset the fire damage you deal to yourself in demon form. As backup, Varyana brings attack speed via Bloodlust, further speeding up the build's skill loop.

Paragon

On the starting board, the Death Aura glyph increases all resistances by 40% on top of empowering Rare nodes — a very cost-effective defensive base for this build. The Fathomless board brings the Demonologist glyph, a flat damage multiplier, while Demonic Spicules with Eldritch Sight adds damage against vulnerable enemies — which lines up with the vulnerable application from the amulet aspect. The Greater Hex board reduces damage taken with the Hellforge glyph, which boosts skills affected by volatility (so basically at all times on this build), and finally Dominion with Ichor Carapace adds 35% extra armor. If you're still short on points, prioritize all legendary nodes before filling in the glyphs.
