Build Overview

This S-Tier Warlock build leverages the Overpower mechanic reworked in Season 13 to crush all Lord of Hatred endgame content. Built around Dread Claws with the Enveloping Dread Claws upgrade, it effortlessly clears Torments 10 to 12 thanks to a permanent stacking of Overpower charges and a near-100% critical hit rate via Hex synergies.

Where the previous version relied on the Mastermind and Blasphemous Soul Shard fragments, NickTew proposes here a bold swap to the Ritualist Soul Shard with the Twisted Fragment and Abyssal Fragment. This transition loses 50% multiplicative damage on paper, but the gain in Overpower stacks and synergies with Banished Lord's TalismanBanished Lord's Talisman nearly doubles the effective DPS. Command Volic then replaces RampageRampage as the main generator, with no cooldown and always active thanks to Enveloping Dread Claws.

The build revolves around a fearsome defensive trio: Dark Prison used as a rune for permanent fortify and 45% damage reduction, the Shadow of Harash 5/6 piece set for 350% damage in permanent Shadow Form, and Metamorphosis with Terror Demon which keeps Ambush active without breaking stealth. The whole carried by Raheir as mercenary to fill the all elements resistance gap.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Permanent Overpower stacking up to 10 charges for nearly 730% additive damage
  • Near-100% critical rate via Calamity and constant Hex stacks
  • Outstanding survival: 45% damage reduction via Dark Prison + permanent Shadow Form
  • 295% Fury regeneration that removes any need for a basic skill
  • Capable of farming Torment 10-12 and Pit 80 without Mythic investment

Cons

  • Hex application sometimes finicky on certain specific mobs
  • Reliance on Banished Lord's TalismanBanished Lord's Talisman to fully exploit Overpower
  • Metamorphosis not always available — peak DPS windows less frequent
  • Learning curve for the Ritualist Soul Shard + Volic combo for new Warlocks

📝Author's Note

Look for Litany of Sable + a focus — it's technically better than a 2-handed weapon. Unfortunately unable to put it on the planner. Seed of Horazon is very good once you can stack enough Maximum Wrath.

Helmet

Heir of PerditionHeir of Perdition is the BiS endgame option for its massive critical damage boost, but NickTew mainly uses Harlequin CrestHarlequin Crest in actual gameplay for the cooldown reduction and +4 ranks to all skills. Godslayer CrownGodslayer Crown remains a very solid alternative for quality of life, provided you get a good roll. On a pure legendary helmet, aiming for a generic damage reduction aspect remains excellent while waiting for a Mythic.

Chest and Pants

The defensive chest maximizes life, armor, and resistances with Aspect of Diabolical Armor as an offensive option when the Shadow of Harash set allows the slot. NickTew uses Shroud of False DeathShroud of False Death for its cross-stat bonuses, but a well-rolled legendary chest is now equally performant. On the pants, Aspect of Coagulation provides a permanent survival boost that synergizes with the maximum life from the Abyss node.

Gloves and Boots

The gloves rely on Edgemaster's AspectEdgemaster's Aspect for the chance to gain Ferocity — 20% permanent attack speed — which relieves pressure on glove rolls. The boots use Aspect of Rallying ReversalAspect of Rallying Reversal to keep mobility in combat. Attack speed, life, and resistances remain the absolute priorities on these two pieces.

Amulet

The Banished Lord's TalismanBanished Lord's Talisman is the piece that transforms this build: 18% multiplicative critical damage per Overpower stack, totaling 180% at 10 charges. NickTew admits not knowing which Boss drops it — he obtained one by upgrading a white item. In the absence of this amulet, Seed of Horazon does the job well and remains the best alternative.

Rings

Calamity is nearly mandatory: it converts Hex stacks into additive critical chance, allowing you to reach 100% crit without overloading gear rolls. The Ring of Starless SkiesRing of Starless Skies is the other BiS piece offering attack speed, critical, and balanced stats. On the remaining legendary ring, Accelerating AspectAccelerating Aspect remains excellent as long as you're not overcap on attack speed.

Weapons and Unique Charms

Litany of Sable is the BiS one-handed sword for its native 120% multiplicative, even better when tempered with damage per Overpower stack. Ideally, aim for a two-handed weapon with Aspect of Overwhelming CurrentsAspect of Overwhelming Currents for 240% multiplicative damage. On the unique charm slot of the Horadric Seal, Night TerrorTerror covers most situations by boosting Shadow Form charges. For runes, NickTew uses the Kerr + C combination to apply Vulnerable, and TamTam + PridePride to summon Dark Prison.

Horadric Seal S13

The Horadric Seal is the central mechanic of Season 13. NickTew leverages the Shadow of Harash set in 5 or 6 pieces to keep the permanent Sigil of Subversion trail, which maintains Hex application on all enemies without pressing anything. On the unique charm slot, Night TerrorTerror is the versatile option to boost Shadow Form charges, but a charm with Banished Lord's TalismanBanished Lord's Talisman aspect or Litany of Sable remains the final optimization goal.

Build Variants

The Enveloping Dread Claws versus Cascading Dread Claws debate is settled by NickTew himself: Enveloping crushes Cascading in terms of DPS, demonstrated side by side on Duriel Torment 9. The follow-up of the player in Shadow Form by the summoned demons alone justifies this choice. This variant is no longer up for debate.

On the Soul Shards side, two schools coexist. The classic Mastermind Soul Shard + Blasphemous Fragment version retains 50% pure multiplicative damage via passive nodes, ideal for players who don't yet have Banished Lord's TalismanBanished Lord's Talisman. The Ritualist Soul Shard + Twisted Fragment + Abyssal Fragment version sacrifices these 50% but opens access to Command Volic, which stacks Overpower beyond the 4 cap up to 10 charges and increases Fury regeneration by 295%.

On the Shadow of Harash set, the 5-piece tier is more than enough to unlock the 350% damage in permanent Shadow Form. If you don't have the full set yet, NickTew recommends two transitional setups: 2 pieces Sigil Set + 3 pieces Shadow to keep the Sigil of Subversion trail, or 2 pieces Sigil + 2 pieces Fulcrum Set + 2 pieces Abdon's Flesh for better defense.

Gameplay Tips

The basic rotation consists of four chained actions: keep Sigil of Subversion active in the background to apply Hex via the Shadow set trails, press Command Volic as soon as it's available to stack Overpower to 10 charges, trigger Metamorphosis on dense packs or Boss, then spam Dread Claws with Enveloping for the main DPS. The basic skill is never used thanks to the 295% Fury regeneration.

For Boss fights, the Metamorphosis window must be reserved for vulnerable phases. Volic is triggered systematically before a burst to guarantee 10 Overpower charges. On Boss that don't move, Demonic Spicules from the Paragon Board rips souls for a massive damage boost against isolated enemies.

In Pit 80+ farming, resistance management is the only real bottleneck until Paragon points are filled. NickTew himself acknowledges running with under-cap resistances, compensated by Raheir's permanent Bastion and Dark Prison's Fortify. Once the glyphs are at level 100, surcap becomes automatic and the build comfortably exceeds Torment 12.

Talent Tree

Mercenary

NickTew engages Raheir as the main mercenary for his defensive and utility role. His signature ability BastionBastion provides constant Fortify which complements the tanking offered by Dark Prison, and Ground SlamGround Slam adds crowd control to stabilize mob waves in the Pit. Beyond the abilities, Raheir mostly fills the all elements resistance gaps — a pain point that NickTew highlights in the video.

This configuration does not define a reinforcement mercenary. If you want an active support slot, Subo as reinforcement provides resource regeneration, and Varyana adds AoE damage to complement the build.

Paragon and Glyphs

The order of the boards follows a logical progression aligned with the build's synergies. The Starter Board with the MastermindMastermind glyph leads the way by overloading damage per Overpower stack. The Dominion board next, equipped with the Demonologist glyph, exploits each Dominance spend via Command Volic for 90% additive damage.

The third board Ritualism with the Eldritch Sight glyph rewards the constant use of Sigil of Subversion, the central mechanic of the build. The Greater Hex board provides massive damage reduction — Hex stacking Vulnerable and Weakened — totaling 75% mitigated damage on top of offensive bonuses. Finally, Demonic Spicules with the AbyssalAbyssal glyph rips the soul of enemies hit by Demonology skills, multiplying damage against isolated Boss.

For secondary glyphs, NickTew is currently testing HeadhunterHeadhunter as a replacement for Mastermind on the Starter Board to multiply damage per Overpower stack rather than adding additive. The VanguardVanguard remains excellent against close enemies in fast farming, and AbyssalAbyssal is a late-game optimization option.

Overpower Mechanic in Season 13

Season 13 entirely reworked Overpower. By default, the player has no access to the mechanic: an activation source is required such as Command Volic from the Ritualist Soul Shard, the Twisted Fragment which grants one stack per 50 Fury spent, or directly Banished Lord's TalismanBanished Lord's Talisman which gives 4 charges per 275 resources spent. Overpower now operates on a timer-based system: stacks are no longer consumed on cast, they simply tick down with time.

The default cap is 4 charges, with a native bonus of 10 to 15% additive damage per stack. The multiplier can climb up to 73% per stack via the "damage per Overpower stack" temper on weapons plus dedicated Paragon nodes. When Command Volic activates its overflow, the cap jumps to 10 charges, producing up to 730% additive damage in burst. The combo with Banished Lord's TalismanBanished Lord's Talisman at 18% multi per stack then pushes critical multipliers to 180% extra, and that's when the build nearly literally doubles its effective DPS.
