Necromancer Skeleton Warrior Auto-Cast Build Overview
This Necromancer Skeleton Warrior auto-cast build by Bigdaddyden76 relies on a full army of summons: ten Skeleton Warriors nicknamed "Reapers", nine Skeleton Mages and one
Golem that do most of the work for you. The whole idea is deliberately lazy — the author repeats it throughout the video: most of the time you just need to walk forward and cast
Blight to group up and freeze enemies, while everything else (damage, healing, Barrier) happens automatically through your minions.
On the gear side, the Black Shroud charm set (worn via Fer of the Black Shroud and its twin pieces) is the centerpiece: it grants 75% damage over time from corrupted damage once all five charms are equipped, plus an extra shadow and cold damage bonus once the full set is complete. Combined with Deathgrip to boost your Skeleton Warriors and the
Aspect of Piercing Cold to speed up freezing, every cast of
Blight makes damage spike on frozen targets.
Strengths and Weaknesses
✅ Strengths
- Near-automatic gameplay: your minions attack, heal and generate Barrier on their own
- Very tanky Skeleton Warrior army thanks to the command passives
Blight groups up and freezes enemies for a massive DoT via the Black Shroud set- Great for fast farming, even with an early Paragon
- Very accessible early in the season, without relying on a mythic item
❌ Weaknesses
- Requires several Lucky Hit Chance tempers to sustain Essence
- Damage is heavily tied to freeze timing — without a well-placed
Blight, the DoT falls off - The sacrificed
Golem loses its direct offensive role to become a pure attack speed support - Weaker single-target damage compared to a pure boss-focused build
Recommended Equipment
Table de Loot
On the helm, The Undercrown grants direct ranks to your summoning skills, while the Deathgrip gloves boost your critical strike damage multiplier and Skeleton Warrior ranks, on top of making your minions Unstoppable once commanded. The
Blood Moon Breeches add native critical strike damage multiplier, highly sought-after since their recent rework.
On the chest armor, the
Aspect of Heavenly Strength lets you wield a two-handed weapon while gaining damage reduction, an easier alternative than other equivalent defensive aspects. The boots benefit from the
Aspect of Piercing Cold to apply Chill faster, which directly speeds up the Black Shroud proc, while the amulet carries the Hellbent Commander Aspect to force your Skeleton Mages to target the same enemy as your commanded warriors.
On the rings, the Signet of Pelghain brings critical strike damage multiplier and a Lucky Hit chance to restore Essence — valuable for spamming
Blight nonstop — while the Pact of Bone rounds out the critical damage line. The weapon benefits from the
Aspect of Reanimation, which supports the overall durability of your skeleton army.
Horadric Seal S14
This build's Horadric Seal carries five charms from the Black Shroud set (including the Fer of the Black Shroud), rounded out by
Bloodless Scream which adds useful general stats to the whole setup. A Legendary Seal is layered on top, unlocking an extra charm slot to fit all six pieces without compromise.
Gameplay Tips
The rotation comes down to one idea: walk forward, cast
Blight as soon as a pack shows up to group and freeze it, then let your Skeleton Warriors and Skeleton Mages finish the job. Watch the duration bar above your warriors: as long as it's active, they're in a "commanded" state and deal extra damage — that's also when your Skeleton Mages automatically target the same enemy thanks to the Hellbent Commander Aspect.
Keep your
Golem active at all times: even sacrificed, it acts as an attack speed commander for the whole army, which is essential to reach 100% attack speed and fully trigger the Cult Leader Paragon node.
Decrepify weakens your targets before engaging,
Iron Maiden adds Execute and Fortify, and
Army of the Dead can stay purely passive thanks to its permanent damage reduction bonus for your minions — no need to actively recast it if you don't want to.
Talent Tree
Mercenary S14
Varyana is hired as the main mercenary: her Rend and
Bloodthirst skills help push the group's attack speed toward the 100% cap, a key threshold for maximizing the Cult Leader Paragon node.
As backup, Raheir brings
Provoke to draw enemy attention, and his Bastion ultimate provides a 90% damage reduction shield that's very useful during critical moments in the Pit.
Paragon
The starting board (Essence) extends the resource management needed to spam
Blight nonstop. Cult Leader (
Deadraiser glyph) requires reaching 100% attack speed to unlock its full offensive potential, while Frailty (Warrior glyph) automatically applies debuffs on targets hit by your skeletons. Wither (Abyssal glyph) is particularly strong: every tick of shadow or cold damage has a chance to trigger a big extra damage bonus, and Scent of Death (Darkness glyph) closes out the board with a damage reduction and damage bonus that makes up for the loss of older defensive sources from the previous season.
