LEVELING SORCIERE
Sorcerer Blizzard Speed Leveling Build Overview
This lightning-infused Sorcerer
Blizzard build, created by QubeLovesToPlay, is one of the fastest ways to take a character from 1 to 70 since the arrival of the Vessel of Hatred DLC. Unlike older leveling methods, the skill tree now dictates progression: every upgrade unlocks at a specific level milestone, regardless of how many points are available. The character starts with
Arc Lash as the basic skill, then chains into
Teleport and
Ice Armor for mobility and survival, before ramping up
Hydra and
Unstable Currents. Starting at level 38, the Electrocution upgrade turns
Blizzard into the core skill, with
Arc Lash becoming obsolete and giving way to Lightning Spear on the action bar. The result is an accessible, extremely efficient area-of-effect build capable of pushing through Torment difficulties right after leveling ends.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
- Massive area-of-effect coverage thanks to Blizzard, ideal for clearing packs of enemies while leveling
- Simple gameplay to learn: few skills to manage, clear rotation
- Smooth progression from level 1, with no dependency on a specific legendary item
- Solid mobility and survival thanks to
Teleport and
Ice Armor - Clean transition into endgame at level 38 (Blizzard becomes the main skill)
Weaknesses
- Gradual power curve: full potential only kicks in at level 38
- Mana management to watch before the power spike of
Unstable Currents - Limited single-target damage compared to other leveling builds
Recommended Gear
Loot Table
While leveling, no legendary item is mandatory: priority goes to tempers rather than specific affixes. On the helm, chest and pants, life points remain useful to survive the early Penance difficulty. Most of the speed gain comes from weapons and gloves with lightning damage, which only really kicks in from level 38 once
Blizzard becomes the main skill. On jewelry, cooldown reduction should be prioritized to recast
Teleport,
Ice Armor and
Unstable Currents more often. For affix priority, the recommended order is Intelligence, Maximum Life, cooldown reduction, damage-over-time multiplier, then lightning damage and finally attack speed — critical hits should be avoided since this build relies on damage over time.
If luck is on your side before level 70, several unique items can greatly speed up your progress: a chest piece that extends how long
Blizzard lingers on the ground, an amulet that casts free lightning spells whenever
Blizzard is cast, and a ring that boosts lightning damage while generating more crackling energy. None of these items are required to finish leveling quickly, but they're worth equipping without hesitation if they drop along the way.

Gameplay Tips
The rotation is simple: hammer
Blizzard while
Unstable Currents is active, which lets you recover your ultimate faster every time it's used.
Ice Armor and
Teleport serve as survival and repositioning tools — recast them as soon as possible thanks to cooldown reduction. Before level 38, use
Arc Lash as a filler to generate mana and crackling energy while waiting for
Blizzard to take over. Two magic-quality runes round things out early on: one to freeze hit targets, the other for movement speed — rare and later legendary runes only arrive much further into the adventure.
Sorcerer Blizzard Skill Tree
Mercenary S14
Subo, the Bounty Hunter, is enough as the main mercenary thanks to his enemy detection, movement speed bonus and crowd control — valuable perks for a speed leveling build.
As backup, Varyana brings her attack speed and shares her
Bloodthirst skill, while the player lends her
Blizzard. Both mercenaries should be brought along from the very start of the adventure so they can build up the experience needed for their bonuses.
Paragon
This build is designed for express leveling up to level 70: the Paragon system only unlocks at level 50 and isn't covered by this guide. You'll find the recommended boards and glyphs for Torment content in the next part of the author's guide.
