Build Overview

This Lightning Spear Speed Farm Sorcerer Build is presented by @OperatorOtter as the absolute king of speed farming in Season 13 — in particular for farming Torment 12 (T12) at full speed, collecting the materials and gear needed for high-level Pit pushing. The core mechanic revolves around generating an absurd amount of crackling energy, then ExploitExploiting it through specific gear pieces that allow the Lightning SpearLightning Spear enchantment to trigger frequently enough to maintain up to 12 active spears at all times.

The Build's identity is that of an ultra-mobile Sorceress who blazes through zones at full speed thanks to a near-permanent TeleportTeleport mechanic. The trio of Unstable CurrentsUnstable Currents + Aspect of Overwhelming CurrentsAspect of Overwhelming Currents + Aspect of ArmageddonAspect of Armageddon forms the DPS engine of the build, a stacking multiplier that grows with each crackling energy absorbed and is capable of one-shotting any target in T12.

The most defining gear choice in the build is Esadora's Overflowing CameoEsadora's Overflowing Cameo as the amulet. @OperatorOtter explains in detail why this piece is superior to the popular alternative Fractured WinterglassFractured Winterglass in a speed farming context: whereas Fractured WinterglassFractured Winterglass generates additional conjurations through Unstable CurrentsUnstable Currents, Esadora's Overflowing CameoEsadora's Overflowing Cameo allows crackling energy to be spent so quickly that it is automatically absorbed in a wide radius — without ever needing to run over it manually. The result? A volume of Unstable CurrentsUnstable Currents charges more than three times higher, which ultimately generates more net damage while maintaining a comparable number of active spears (between 8 and 12 at all times).

The Build's defense relies on a near-permanent Ice ArmorIce Armor made possible by the Aspect of Elemental Attunement (Aspect of Elemental ConstellationAspect of Elemental Constellation on the off-hand weapon), which randomly reduces the cooldown of defensive skills on every Lucky Hit. Thanks to the build's extremely high Lucky Hit chance, Ice ArmorIce Armor comes back almost instantly, providing a massive barrier and a near-perpetual doubling of armor. This is a build that requires a minimum of practice to master the FamiliarFamiliar / HydraHydra / TeleportTeleport rotation, but rewards generously with one of the best mobility setups in the game.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Exceptional mobility thanks to near-permanent TeleportTeleport via the Blaze mechanic + stacking accumulation charges
  • Best-in-class DPS in T12: up to 12 active spears simultaneously, fire-and-forget damage profile across the entire map
  • Solid defense with permanent Ice ArmorIce Armor thanks to Aspect of Elemental Attunement
  • Excellent farm speed: wide AoE and automatic crackling energy absorption with no need to run over it
  • Two stacking multipliers (Unstable CurrentsUnstable Currents + Aspect of Overwhelming CurrentsAspect of Overwhelming Currents) that ramp together

Cons

  • Notable learning curve to master the FamiliarFamiliar / HydraHydra rotation in low-density areas
  • Dependent on difficult-to-obtain mythic pieces (Heir of PerditionHeir of Perdition, Tyrael's MightTyrael's Might, Ring of Starless SkiesRing of Starless Skies)
  • Certain T12 situations can still one-shot the Sorceress despite the permanent barrier
  • Inefficient in low-density areas: open spaces require active management of accumulation charges via FamiliarFamiliar

The Heir of PerditionHeir of Perdition helmet (mythic) is the offensive centerpiece of the build: it combines Critical Strike Chance, Lucky Hit Chance, Movement Speed and an 80% Damage Multiplier — a helmet @OperatorOtter describes as "simply insane." If survival is an issue, Harlequin CrestHarlequin Crest remains a viable alternative thanks to its armor, Maximum Life and bonus ranks to all skills. Having a Greater Affix on Lucky Hit Chance (25%) further maximizes the proc frequency of Aspect of Elemental Attunement.

The chest Tyrael's MightTyrael's Might (mythic) provides crucial Damage Reduction for survival, with a Greater Affix on Damage Reduction (25%). The unique pants PantsPants Axial ConduitAxial Conduit are a core structural piece: they allow multiple Chain LightningChain Lightning bolts to cascade, each generating crackling energy on Critical Strike — this is why Critical Strike Chance is an absolute prerequisite for the build (74.4% attack speed minimum before Ferocity charges). The unique boots Esu's HeirloomEsu's Heirloom provide bonus Movement Speed enhanced by a Greater Affix.

The Ring of Starless SkiesRing of Starless Skies (mythic) concentrates everything the build needs: Attack Speed, Critical Strike Chance, Lucky Hit Chance — with a Greater Affix on Critical Strike Chance (15%). The two legendary weapons carry respectively Aspect of ArmageddonAspect of Armageddon and Aspect of Elemental ConstellationAspect of Elemental Constellation, the latter being the defensive pillar of the build through the cooldown reduction on defensive skills. The gloves carry Aspect of Overwhelming CurrentsAspect of Overwhelming Currents, which multiplies the stacking multiplier on every Critical Strike. The secondary ring holds Aspect of Elemental Attunement, key to maintaining permanent Ice ArmorIce Armor and TeleportTeleport.

For the Talisman (Horadric Seal), the absolute priority is to obtain at least 10 bonus ranks in Shock skills through the 5 charms of the Tal Rasha's Threefold Path set. These additional ranks extend the duration of Unstable CurrentsUnstable Currents (up to 50 seconds), increase its Lucky Hit Chance (up to 183.8%) and boost the Shock Damage Multiplier per crackling energy absorbed — a combination that makes the build exponentially more powerful as the Talisman is properly built out.

Horadric Seal S13

The Season 13 Talisman uses the Tal Rasha's Threefold Path set at 5/5 (Fer, Linta, Mlor, Phoba, Beru charms). The main objective is to accumulate as many bonus ranks as possible in Shock skills: each additional rank on Unstable CurrentsUnstable Currents extends its duration and amplifies its Damage Multiplier per crackling energy absorbed, which adds directly to overall DPS. The set mechanic also triggers a Mastery skill automatically (typically MeteorMeteor) on every HydraHydra cast, ensuring a constant flow of accumulation charges to fuel the Blaze TeleportTeleport.

Gameplay Tips

The opening rotation is straightforward: cast Unstable CurrentsUnstable Currents and FamiliarFamiliar immediately upon entering a zone to get your first accumulation charges and activate the Blaze TeleportTeleport. Once the combo is rolling with enemy density, you can simply hold TeleportTeleport down as you pass through packs — the Talisman set generates MeteorMeteors through HydraHydra, each impact fills your accumulation charges, and TeleportTeleport remains nearly free thanks to this continuous flow.

Managing empty areas (without enemy density) is the key skill to acquire. The technique is to use the FamiliarFamiliar → two TeleportTeleports → FamiliarFamiliar → two TeleportTeleports cycle, repeating until you find a group of enemies. FamiliarFamiliar grants 2 accumulation charges per summon, which is enough to cover 2 teleports. After 8 teleports, you will statistically have found enough density to restart the full rotation. Remember to cast HydraHydra as soon as the first enemy appears to regenerate your charges through MeteorMeteors.

Chain LightningChain Lightning is not used as a permanent spam: reserve it for elites and thick packs you spot at range. Thanks to Axial ConduitAxial Conduit, each Chain LightningChain Lightning branches into multiple bolts, each generating crackling energy on Critical Strike — which quickly eliminates small targets in AoE and heavily damages elites. After the cast, teleport into the area: Esadora's Overflowing CameoEsadora's Overflowing Cameo will automatically absorb all the crackling energy generated in a wide radius without you having to run over it.

Ice ArmorIce Armor is your defensive safety net. It comes back almost immediately thanks to Aspect of Elemental Attunement, which randomly reduces defensive cooldowns on Lucky Hit. The duration of Ice ArmorIce Armor (5 seconds) is far superior to that of Flame Shield (1.5 seconds), which justifies this choice: if the barrier drops between two refreshes, you take far less damage than if you had relied solely on the short invulnerability of Flame Shield. Press the defensive skill as soon as it is available — never hold it "in reserve."

Skill Tree

The Skill Tree is entirely focused on maximizing the rate of crackling energy generation and the duration of Unstable CurrentsUnstable Currents. The rank 15 skills — Chain LightningChain Lightning, Lightning SpearLightning Spear and Unstable CurrentsUnstable Currents — form the core of the build, reinforced by the Chain Whipping upgrade (for Chain LightningChain Lightning), Reverse Polarity (for Lightning SpearLightning Spear) and Boundless (for Unstable CurrentsUnstable Currents). Support skills (TeleportTeleport, Ice ArmorIce Armor, FamiliarFamiliar, HydraHydra, Ball LightningBall Lightning, MeteorMeteor, Charged BoltsCharged Bolts) remain at rank 1 but are all selected for their enchantments or specific synergies.

Mercenary S13

The main mercenary chosen for this build is Subo, the bounty hunter specialized in area control. His two signature skills — Wire TrapWire Trap and Cover FireCover Fire — fit naturally into a build that operates at high mobility and constant AoE: Subo lays traps in the area you pass through, slowing and making Vulnerable the targets that remain in your wake while the Lightning SpearLightning Spears continue their work autonomously.

The selected reinforcement is Aldkin with the Field of LanguishField of Languish skill, which creates an additional weakening zone on enemies. This synergy is particularly effective on dense packs and T12 Pit elites, where every source of Vulnerable contributes to maintaining the one-shots the build is capable of delivering thanks to its stacking multipliers.

Paragon and Glyphs

The Paragon board is built around 5 boards at L150, all with their glyphs at rank 150 (exceeding the required cap of 100). The Start board holds the ElementalistElementalist glyph, which amplifies elemental damage based on stat nodes allocated within its radius. The Ceaseless Conduit board carries the DestructionDestruction glyph, focused on Critical Damage and attack speed. The Enchantment Master uses the ChargedCharged glyph, which directly boosts Shock skills — an obvious synergy with the entire build. Static Surge is paired with the ControlControl glyph, exploiting the slowing and immobilizing effects the build naturally generates. Finally, Frigid Fate holds the ExploitExploit glyph, which amplifies damage against enemies under crowd control effects, closing the offensive loop of the board.
