Rogue Dance of Knives Immortal Build Overview

This Rogue Dance of KnivesDance of Knives immortal build, put together by Slaydra, was the very first to clear Tournament difficulty on the Pit leaderboards in Season 14 — a strong signal of its power right from the start of the season. The idea is deliberately simple: activate Poison ImbuementPoison Imbuement and hold down Dance of KnivesDance of Knives, with almost no other input needed. Thanks to the Inner Sight specialization, the Rogue regenerates energy continuously and can basically tank hits without ever running out of resource, hence the "immortal" tag. No specific gear is required to make it work: both a mythic and a non-mythic variant exist, making it an excellent league start pick for anyone who wants to push toward Torment 12 quickly without depending on drops.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • No gear requirements — playable from the very first hours of the season
  • Near-infinite energy thanks to Inner Sight, very high survivability
  • Minimalist gameplay: Poison ImbuementPoison Imbuement then hold your main skill
  • Excellent for both leveling AND fast Pit farming up to Torment 12
  • Smooth progression from the non-mythic to the mythic variant without changing your approach

Cons

  • Loses effectiveness past Torment 12 against Pit-push oriented builds
  • Less relevant at very high difficulty without transitioning to another main skill
  • Some optional skills (Shadow CloneShadow Clone) add an animation delay that hurts pure speed

No item is mandatory to get this build running, but a few pieces speed up the progression significantly. The Etna's Lost Dagger is this season's standout addition: dealing two different types of non-physical damage boosts movement speed for 8 seconds, an effect that triggers automatically as soon as the Horadric Seal's set bonus is active. The Harlequin CrestHarlequin Crest remains optional but very comfortable thanks to its extra ranks to all skills. On the chest, Aspect of Debilitating Toxins reduces incoming damage, while Aspect of Stolen VigorAspect of Stolen Vigor on the amulet adds bonus damage against weakened or crowd-controlled enemies. On the pants, Aspect of DisobedienceAspect of Disobedience offers a good survivability margin; failing that, the unique pants Death's PavaneDeath's Pavane make a solid alternative until you get the matching Horadric Seal charm. On weapons, prioritize Aspect of Channeling or Breakneck Bandit's AspectBreakneck Bandit's Aspect to maximize damage, aiming first for weapon damage and ranks to Imbuement skills.

Horadric Seal S14

This build relies on the Spellbound Steel set for its seal, which unlocks its full bonus at 5 equipped charms and automatically procs defensive imbuements while Inner Sight is active. A Legendary seal completes the set with an extra charm slot, bringing the total to 6 slots — plenty of room to fit a good unique charm if you find one along the way.

Gameplay Tips

The rotation fits in one sentence: activate Poison ImbuementPoison Imbuement, then hold down Dance of KnivesDance of Knives on enemies. DashDash only serves to cross obstacles or break crowd control, and Shadow CloneShadow Clone stays optional — its animation can slow down the pace early on. Dark ShroudDark Shroud triggers automatically thanks to the set bonus once Inner Sight is active, so there is no need to cast it manually. The key to the build's "immortal" survivability comes from the OverflowOverflow upgrade on Dark Shroud: it regenerates energy continuously and keeps feeding Inner Sight, which in turn grants unlimited energy for a few seconds every time it triggers. If resources still feel tight in the early leveling phase, the SapperSapper variant on Poison Imbuement favors Fortify, while the regeneration-focused upgrade works better once your playstyle is settled.

Talent Tree

Mercenary S14

The main mercenary Varyana brings raw melee damage with CleaveCleave and WhirlwindWhirlwind, a welcome help against packs of enemies while you stay focused on your poison rotation. As backup, Raheir and his Shield ChargeShield Charge let you interrupt and group up ranged enemies, a real plus for a build that has no dedicated crowd control tool.

Paragon

The starting board goes straight for the ExploitExploit glyph to stack vulnerable, before moving into Cheap ShotCheap Shot and its VersatilityVersatility glyph, which fully benefits from Poison Imbuement counting as a non-basic skill. The Leyrana's InstinctLeyrana's Instinct board (BaneBane glyph) adds extra poison damage once Inner Sight is active, while Exploit WeaknessExploit Weakness (HeadhunterHeadhunter glyph) and Eldritch BountyEldritch Bounty (TrackerTracker glyph) round out survivability and end-of-board damage.
