ENDGAME | PIT PUSH | SPEED FARM | PTR VOLEUR
⚠️ PTR Build — Test server
This build was only tested on the Public Test Realm (PTR) and may receive major changes before the official release.
Build Overview
The Rogue
Penetrating Shot poison build by @wudijo is one its creator says he has been playing since Seasons 13 and 14, and it gets even stronger with the Season 15 theme, even though the Rogue receives almost no class changes this season. According to him, this Rogue should nearly double its damage compared to previous seasons thanks to the new seasonal socketables. Concretely, he claims it can chain Pit tiers 115 to 120 in under two minutes and melt any Torment 12 target, lair bosses included, in a few seconds, while remaining nearly unkillable.
What sets this build apart is its versatility: it excels at fast clearing while staying competitive in high-tier pushing, with an announced ceiling around Pit 130 without heavy optimization for anyone who wants to go further. All of its power comes from damage over time: the build ignores Critical Strike Chance and Critical Strike Damage and focuses on damage over time multipliers, while Vulnerable is applied constantly thanks to a very high Lucky Hit Chance.
Pros and Cons
✅ Strengths
- Extremely fast clear, with Pit tiers 115 to 120 done in under two minutes
- Nearly unkillable once the Season 15 theme is in place, between massive damage reduction and multiplied damage
- Two
Penetrating Shot variants swapped with a single left click, to switch between speed farming and boss fights - Simple rotation that relies on neither Critical Strike Chance nor Critical Strike Damage
❌ Weaknesses
- Not tuned to be the best pure pushing setup, even though it stays solid without heavy optimization
- Resources are fragile until
Tibault's Will is in hand
Poison Imbuement does not fully benefit
Shadow Clone, a limitation the author acknowledges- Announced numbers come from the PTR and may be toned down before release
Recommended Gear for the Rogue Penetrating Shot poison build
Loot Table
The core item of the build is
Eaglehorn, a unique weapon to get as a priority: it makes
Penetrating Shot bounce off walls, which multiplies hits and brings a welcome damage multiplier from the very first levels. On the pants,
Tibault's Will solves the build's main problem, resource management: the author recommends getting it by upgrading a pair of unique pants in the Horadric Cube, which fixes every Energy issue in one go. Until it is in hand,
Dance of Knives remains the best single-target option to avoid running out of resources, leaving
Penetrating Shot for pack clearing.
On the offhand side, Etna's Lost Dagger brings a massive damage spike, almost the equivalent of two aspects on its own: all it needs is a second elemental damage type through a temper (Shadow or Lightning both work, as long as it is neither Physical nor Poison) to trigger its effect. On the hands,
Fists of Fate only becomes worthwhile as a Mythic, where it rivals any 60% damage aspect; before getting it in that form, plain legendary gloves do the job in the meantime.
On the talisman's unique charm, In-Geom, placed here rather than equipped as a weapon, reduces cooldowns with every Elite pack defeated and lets you spam
Dash and
Shadow Step nonstop and recast
Shadow Clone and
Concealment much faster. For bossing or pure pushing, the author simply swaps it for
Rustbitten Dirk, built for single-target combat: a simple charm swap, with no other adjustment.
Horadric Seal S15
For the talisman, the Rogue relies on the Legacy of the Sightless set rather than Spellbound Steel, which you nonetheless see on other poison builds: the latter suffers from the same issue as the rest of the build, since
Poison Imbuement potency does not fully benefit
Shadow Clone. wudijo also offers a variant built around the Seal of the Diamond Mind, combining five Spellbound Steel pieces with three Legacy of the Sightless pieces: probably a sturdier choice defensively, with no certainty that it actually beats the classic talisman of five set pieces plus a unique charm. On the charms, the goal is to aim for Imbuement or Marksman skill ranks along with at least one elemental resistance per charm: single resistance mods were significantly buffed in Season 15 and are now worth targeting, on top of all-around stats.
Gameplay Tips
The Rogue
Penetrating Shot poison build also benefits from a class-specific mechanic: damage goes up against Crowd Controlled or staggered enemies, and goes down against Unstoppable targets. This mostly comes from
Cheap Shot and, depending on the Paragon setup, the
Control glyph or other conditional effects of the same kind. It used to matter a lot in the past, but the gap is much smaller today, so nothing that changes the way you play.
Resource management remains the main risk before getting
Tibault's Will: without it, you have to actively look for Unstoppable triggers and alternate between
Penetrating Shot and
Dance of Knives depending on the situation. Once the item is yours, everything gets simpler: just keep the skill cycle going to never run dry.
Talent Tree
A few reflexes are all the rotation needs. During regular clearing, just spam
Penetrating Shot while keeping
Poison Imbuement and
Shadow Clone active, and trigger Unstoppable at least once every five seconds through
Shadow Step,
Concealment or
Shadow Clone to keep
Tibault's Will fed at all times. Before getting the latter,
Dance of Knives remains the best single-target option to avoid running out of resources.
wudijo tuned his build to work with both
Penetrating Shot variants:
Shadow Shot runs full time for speed clearing, with no attack speed penalty and extra summons that also fire, while
Ballista, stronger but twice as slow to fire, is reserved for bosses and high-tier pushing. Both versions are swapped with a single left click, without even a right click, which lets you switch from one to the other mid-fight.
On the tree, the setup stays fairly lean: a few spare ranks can go into
Dash to build
Ferocity faster, but the real action is elsewhere. If you feel squishy, the author recommends investing more into
Dark Shroud rather than rethinking the whole tree.
Mercenary S15
Raheir holds the defensive role of the duo: his active skill
Ground Slam reinforces the front line while this Rogue, fully geared toward damage over time and with no real defense of its own, slips between enemies. The allocated passives (
Bastion,
Inspiration,
Raheir's Aegis) add damage reduction and elemental resistance, a welcome complement for a build that goes all-in on offense.
As reinforcement, Varyana brings
Earth Breaker, an extra support ability that comes on top without any particular management: the duo runs on autopilot while your attention stays on keeping
Poison Imbuement up and triggering Unstoppable.
Paragon
Nothing new on the Paragon board: wudijo reuses as-is a board already proven over previous seasons, with no adjustment having proved necessary for Season 15. Just follow the proposed layout rather than starting from scratch.
What the Season 15 theme brings
The real game changer for this build comes from the Season 15 theme: the new socketables that go into jewelry, available in several qualities up to unique rank, offer massive bonuses. One of them, the Splinter of Hellfire, trades all of your Critical Strike Chance for a flat doubling of your damage. A perfect socketable for a build that, like this Rogue
Penetrating Shot poison setup, never scales Critical Strike anyway. On the version wudijo tested on the PTR, combining several of these socketables with Leoric's Crown, a unique helm that also holds these splinters and amplifies their effect, pushed damage up by more than 230% and damage reduction to around 92%, bordering on invincibility. These numbers come straight from the PTR and will most likely be toned down before the official release, but even a watered-down version points to a considerable power gain compared to previous seasons.
