Fubgun, a Path of Exile content creator known for his PoE2 Atlas guides, published a detailed video on PoE2 0.5 endgame progression. This article summarizes his method to fully unlock the Atlas passive tree — all 311 points — in approximately thirty hours of playtime.
Good news: nothing is lost along the way. Every point can be earned, as long as you follow the right order and avoid a few unnecessary detours. For context on the season’s changes, check out our recap of the 0.5 patch notes and new Atlas. Here is the full method, from the first precursor tower to the fifth Arbiter of Divinity kill.
PoE2 Atlas 0.5: 311 Points and Two Progression Paths
Two paths structure this progression. The first covers the « natural » Atlas points: they apply to every single map without exception. More rare monsters, duplication of rares, increased tablet effect, larger magic pack size. This path takes priority over everything else. Complete it first, as these bonuses affect every map and amplify every mechanic you encounter.

The second path covers league mechanics: Abyss, Breach, Delirium, Ritual, and the rest. They are equally important, but you don’t need to complete all of them. Choose the ones that interest you and skip the rest. Ritual doesn’t appeal to you? Skip it entirely, no regrets.
Doriani’s Quest: From the Precursor Tower to the Great City
As soon as you enter your first maps, a precursor tower appears on the map. Don’t miss it — head straight for it as a top priority. It’s what triggers the appearance of the great city, the heart of your PoE2 Atlas progression.
Every map completed inside the city grants +1 Atlas point. Precursor towers grant +3 each. The city walls house these towers, and unlocking them as early as possible significantly speeds up your point accumulation. The city contains over 150 maps in total, which may seem daunting at first, but you don’t need to complete all of them right now.

The great city is vast, with dozens of connections and hidden corners. Resist the urge to explore every zone systematically. Follow Doriani’s quest — it guides you toward the next objective without unnecessary detours.

The quest then leads you to the Burning Monolith. From there, two objectives open simultaneously: the eastern gateway on the right, and the western gateway on the left. The guiding principle remains the same — push forward without trying to complete every map along the way.
Unlock the western gateway first, then push directly toward the western enigma chamber. That’s where the next chapter of your PoE2 Atlas progression unfolds.

Enigma Chambers and the Arbiter of Ash
Once the gateways are accessible, it’s time for the enigma chambers. Each one is a citadel boss fight — a format familiar to players from previous leagues. Start with the western chamber, then move on to the eastern one. Order matters: you must clear both before moving to the next step.

Don’t waste time completing every map along the way. The goal here is simple: reach the chambers, clear them, and move on. Once both fights are done, return to the Burning Monolith to face the Arbiter of Ash, the first pinnacle boss in the game.

Killing the Arbiter of Ash opens a new area on the PoE2 Atlas, a mandatory step to progress toward the rest of the endgame content.
The Arbiter of Divinity and the Great Grind
In this new area, the first thing to do is rush to the Origin Tower. It triggers a quest that sends you to collect sparks across the region.

Once the sparks are collected, head to the Patriarch Halls and the Matriarch Halls. Kill these two bosses to unlock access to the final Atlas boss: the Arbiter of Divinity. If your character lacks gear or this is your first time facing this content, expect a demanding fight. Take the time to prepare properly before engaging, ideally with a solid league starter build. Attempts are unlimited — you can die as many times as needed until you succeed.
Once the Arbiter of Divinity is defeated, the real grind begins. Five stone statues appear, each linked to one of the five Atlas regions. Clicking a statue and completing its associated fights automatically unlocks all Atlas points for that entire region — no need to complete 150 maps one by one. This is the fastest way to progress. Each kill gives you only one statue choice, so to fully unlock your Atlas you must kill the Arbiter of Divinity five times in total.
To chain the kills, two options are available. The first is to complete all the maps inside the city — over 150 maps. Doable, but clearly not the recommended method. The second, far more efficient option, is to find the Patriarch Halls and Matriarch Halls outside the city to respawn the boss again and again.

These halls work exactly like citadel fights. Kill two to access the boss, following the same principle as the Arbiter of Ash, but with two halls instead of three. To spot them in the darkness of the Atlas, look for the distinctive light beams that mark both halls and citadels.

For the five required kills, expect to find approximately eight halls in total: four Patriarch Halls and four Matriarch Halls. The first kill corresponds to the main quest version inside the city; the four following kills happen entirely outside the city. This exploration will also let you cover large portions of the PoE2 Atlas, stumbling upon citadels, unique maps, Jade Islands, and corrupted Nexuses — not to mention master quests and their league mechanics. Once the Arbiter of Divinity is killed five times, every Atlas point is unlocked.
League Mechanics and Master Quests
League mechanics unlock very naturally: as soon as you complete one for the first time in a map, the associated quest opens. Take Abyss as an example. After your first encounter, the exact location of the main Abyss zone appears on your map. Go there, complete the quest line — which generally means clearing all the maps inside that zone — and you collect all the available Abyss points.

You don’t have to do all of them. Focus only on the ones that interest you. If Abyss fits your playstyle, do it. If Ritual doesn’t add anything for you, move on. The bosses in these zones are significantly more approachable than those in the main progression, and the rewards remain very solid.
For order, finish the main progression first — meaning kill the Arbiter of Divinity once — then pick a league mechanic to chain. While you explore the Atlas looking for further Patriarch and Matriarch summons, you can run your favorite mechanic in parallel and generate currency through tablets, especially with a clear speed build that blazes through maps. An efficient way to advance on multiple fronts without wasting time.
The Three Master Quests
Throughout the Atlas, you will encounter three masters: Doriani, Jada, and Hilda. Each has their own unlock conditions, and the quest log on the right side of the screen tells you precisely what to do for each one.
Doriani unlocks after completing a corrupted Nexus. To finish her quest line, you’ll need to complete three in total, plus the Nexus boss, a « Fury » type enemy. Jada requires anomaly maps, such as Jade Island, four in total to close her quest. Hilda appears from the very beginning of the Atlas but remains optional to prioritize: a persistent bug at the time of writing sometimes prevents completing her quest normally.
These master quests have a real impact on your progression — don’t neglect them. As soon as a new condition appears in the quest log, take a few minutes to check whether you can advance it along the way.
Which Points to Unlock First
Since you will eventually unlock everything anyway, the priority order matters mainly to make every map profitable from the start, especially if you’re farming with a fast mapping build. The simplest recommendation: start with essences and shrines, two of the five available starting options. These initial choices quickly unlock high-yield nodes.
After this first choice, focus on everything that makes up the natural juice of your maps: nodes that increase the number of rare monsters, tablet effect, magic pack size, and the quantity of rare modifiers. These points directly improve the loot you get from every map, no conditions required.

The central area of the Atlas also deserves a quick look. The tablet quantity and rarity nodes found there are among the most powerful, as they multiply the value of every tablet you slot. Take advantage of them early to maximize your tablet returns as soon as your network starts to fill out.

A node often overlooked during early unlocks: Partial Translation. It allows you to obtain a four-mod tablet, which represents a significant upgrade over standard tablets. Grab it as soon as you get the chance, before spreading your points across other areas.
To make sure you don’t miss anything, use the Atlas built-in search. Type « rare » and grab every node shown — rare modifiers are universally excellent for loot. Then do the same with « tablet » to collect all tablet nodes. This method lets you sweep through all the useful options without risking missing one.

Save the city-related nodes for last. If you’re running maps outside the city, these points won’t bring you any concrete benefit in the short term. Invest them last, once the rest of your PoE2 Atlas is well stocked with rare monsters, tablets, and active league mechanics.
