Build Overview
The
Arc Totem Gemling Legionnaire build is built on a simple yet devastatingly effective idea: summoning six totems that cast
Arc in your place. You only need to press a single button to clear the entire screen — the totems handle auto-targeting and deal damage off-screen. The author himself describes his creation as « one button, low input »: a very low mental load build, designed for chaining maps in a loop with zero stress.
All the power comes from stacking multipliers provided by Gemling Legionnaire gem quality. The quality of
Arc grants a damage bonus per remaining chain: with 15 chains doubled by
Dominus Grasp (30 chains total),
Arc gains nearly 180% additional damage. At the same time, the quality of
Spell Totem grants increased cast speed per summoned totem: with six totems on the field, the cast rate becomes absolutely insane.
The technical core relies on the keystone Ancestral Bond, which removes the charge cost of totems and makes them reserve spirit instead. Combined with
Archmage — which also affects our totems — with the Efficient Inscriptions nodes and an armor suffix that increases spirit reservation, the build manages to maintain six totems simultaneously. The result: a visually clean build, light on system resources, capable of killing off-screen with remarkable gameplay comfort.
Strengths / Weaknesses
✅ Strengths
- One-button gameplay: just press the
Arc totem to clear an entire map. - Off-screen damage with totem auto-targeting — minimal input required.
- Very low mental load, ideal for repetitive farming and mass mapping.
- Visually clean: runs smoothly even on a modest setup.
- Excellent survivability thanks to the life/mana regen double-dip via Cargoel’s Gaze.
- Scalable: from SUPER LOW BUDGET up to medium budget ~200 div.
❌ Weaknesses
- Heavy spirit dependency to keep six totems running — reservation management is central.
- Slower single target: you need to place totems, cast
Frost Bomb + a curse then
Mana Tempest. - Progressive power ramp: several crafts are needed to reach full potential.
- Passive totem gameplay that won’t appeal to players who prefer more active playstyles.

The interactive grid below details the build’s complete equipment. Here are the stat priorities to keep in mind slot by slot, as recommended by the author:
- Wand: +5 to level of lightning spell gems, lightning/elemental damage with spells, +1 to level of all spell gems and critical chance in suffix. A cast speed or critical damage bonus line is a plus.
- Helmet: maximum Energy Shield (converted to mana), mana, intelligence and resistances. The centerpiece is the socketed Cargoel’s Gaze soul core, which makes the life regeneration reduction also apply to mana regeneration — a powerful double-dip with Gemling motes.
- Scepter: a Purity base type (support gems socketed in the purity cost no additional spirit), with maximum spirit, mana, mana regeneration and intelligence.
- Amulet: +level to all spell gems, spirit and mana as priorities, with cast speed in suffix and quality of all spell gems.
- Body armour: spirit, Energy Shield and resistances. Later, aim for spirit reservation efficiency, which allows you to fit an additional totem.
- Rings: one crafted ring with mana on a mnemonic base, and especially maximum mana via a Perfect Essence of the Mind, complemented by resistances. On the optimised endgame profile, the second ring is a Kalandra’s Touch that mirrors the first ring’s stats.
- Gloves: Energy Shield, mana and resistances. Optimisation goal: gloves with +2 projectile gems.
- Boots: movement speed, mana and Energy Shield, enhanced with an Essence of Horror for socket effects.
- Belt: a Darkness Enthroned, into which you socket a Rune of the Blossom for spirit and a Fox Idol for quality.
- Jewels: spell damage, lightning damage, critical mods and cast speed. The key jewel is a Split Personality (ruby) with Templar starting position.
Gameplay Tips
- Mapping: simply press the
Arc totem, that’s all. On a low budget setup (200% delirium for example),
Mana Tempest leaves a long-duration buff providing a huge bonus to lightning damage. - Single target: place your totems, cast
Frost Bomb and a curse on the boss, then finish with
Mana Tempest. - Lock your scepter by right-clicking the weapon set: the game will automatically use your wand and scepter in your off-hand.
- Smart crafting: for boots, buy cheap bases and try the Essence of Horror on suffixes before Vaaling the item for an extra socket — much more cost-effective than crafting from scratch.
How Arc Totems Work
The engine of the build is the combination of
Spell Totem and
Arc, elevated by the gem qualities unique to the Gemling Legionnaire. The quality of
Arc turns each remaining chain into a damage multiplier: starting from 15 chains, doubled to 30 by
Dominus Grasp, which amounts to approximately 180% more damage on each lightning bolt.
The quality of
Spell Totem, in turn, grants increased cast speed for each totem summoned. With six totems deployed, the attack rate gain is colossal and bolts chain continuously. To keep this army of totems sustained, the keystone Ancestral Bond removes their charge cost and makes them reserve spirit instead. That is the whole challenge of the build: freeing enough spirit, through the Efficient Inscriptions nodes, a dedicated body armour suffix and reservation efficiency, to maximise the number of totems while keeping
Archmage active.
The Split Personality Jewel and the Templar Start
The most important jewel in the build is a
Split Personality ruby Split Personality with a Templar starting point. It allows you to path the passive tree from the Templar area instead of the Gemling Legionnaire area, which opens up far more efficient access to the desired nodes.
The process requires a bit of method: you start by pathing to the relevant jewel socket, insert the Templar start, then, once more points become available later, connect the necessary nodes before deallocating the old path. In the end, the character effectively starts from Templar — a notable pathing gain across the entire tree.
Weapon Set Configuration
The build makes use of both weapon sets to distribute its gems and passive points. On the gem side:
Spell Totem is assigned to set 1,
Frost Bomb and
Elemental Weakness to set 2, while
Archmage,
Mana Tempest and
Mana Remnants are active on both sets.
The passive points of set 1 target totems (placement, damage, Ancestral Bond and ancestor support nodes), while those of set 2 focus on curses and exposure: Overexposure, Master of Hexes, Decrepifying Curse and Impending Doom. Remember to lock your scepter via right-click on the weapon set so that your wand and scepter are always equipped together.
Ascendancy and Progression
On the Gemling Legionnaire ascendancy side, the recommended order is Virtuous Barrier, then Advanced Storm Turgid, followed by Neurological Implants and finally Gem Studded. This last node requires balancing support gems by Strength and Intelligence cost — hence the presence of
Entangle and a few « red » support gems whose sole purpose is to maintain that balance.
Progression follows several tiers, from SUPER LOW BUDGET up to medium budget around 200 div. The idea is to start with an accessible setup, then progressively invest in crafts (wand, amulet, body armour, ring) to increase spirit reservation and the number of totems. Each tier remains perfectly playable, making this an excellent long-term farming build.
