Build Overview
The Teleport Elephant is the patch 0.5 version of the Infernal Legion concept by Oscrix. The idea is as simple as it is deadly: you summon a single tamed companion — a Companion:
Elephant Tortoise — and stack as much life on it as possible. The Infernal Legion support then permanently applies fire damage (ignite) all around the companion, proportional to its life. The bigger and tougher the elephant, the more devastating the blaze it radiates.
The core gameplay comes down to one button: the weapon swap. On one weapon set the companion is active, on the other it is deactivated. By spamming a single key (right-click for Oscrix), you make it disappear and instantly reappear at your location. Combined with the movement skill
Blink and highly optimized cooldown recovery, this produces a playstyle where you constantly blink across maps while repositioning the elephant — a kind of « poor man’s Temporalis » gameplay, ultra mobile and fast-paced.
Defensively, the Lich ascendancy turns this mapper into a tank: thanks to the Solstice Form +
notable Eternal Life combo (further bolstered by
notable Heavy Buffer and a Stone Golem), 20% of damage taken is simply not taken. With a massive Energy Shield pool,
Enfeeble placed on the ground, and damage that deals itself independently of your position, you get one of the most durable and enjoyable characters to play in Hardcore this season — with a nearly infinite min-maxing ceiling.
Strengths / Weaknesses
✅ Strengths
- Extreme mobility:
Blink with roughly a 1.3s cooldown in maps, you blink across the entire screen continuously. - Exceptional defense: the Lich ascendancy negates 20% of damage taken, on top of a massive Energy Shield pool.
- Position-independent damage: the companion deals damage on its own — you never need to stand still to deal damage.
- Enormous scaling ceiling: with perfect gear, Oscrix estimates he could nearly double his damage and gain ~5,000 Energy Shield.
- Hardcore-viable: the combination of mobility and defense makes this one of the safest characters for HC.
- Fun and fluid Mapping: repositioning the elephant with
Blink makes map farming snappy and enjoyable. - Zombies for single-target: an almost free secondary
Raise Zombie setup can solo most Pinnacle bosses.
❌ Weaknesses
- Relies on a good elephant: you need to farm a rare companion with Increased Area of Effect — that’s RNG, and the build loses a lot of appeal without it.
- Expensive to min-max: the real power upgrades (Xoph’s Pyre, Atziri’s Communion,
Mageblood, 5-mod jewels) come at a high cost. - Attribute-hungry: you need to juggle Strength, Intelligence, and Dexterity, which makes gearing in the early game difficult to pull together.
- Technical setup: weapon swap, generating power charges for the zombies, and setting up curses require a bit of practice to get right.

The overall goal is simple: maximize Energy Shield, stack minion skill levels on every piece, and maximize cooldown recovery for
Blink. The exact details of each item and its affixes are visible in the interactive equipment grid below.
- Helmet & Amulet: stack Energy Shield, minion levels (+2 on the helmet, +3 on the amulet), and attributes.
- Sceptre — Shrine Scepter: the crown jewel. It provides resistances and makes several supports free (damage, reduced damage taken from elements, mana regeneration). Aim for « allied damage and presence », minion life, +4 to minion skills, and the new « elemental magnitude » mod for minions.
- Body Armour: maximize Energy Shield, critical hit reduction (seeking essence), and a Stout idol (5% of damage bypasses ES → unaffected on Lich).
- Rings: cooldown recovery, minion damage/life, and the « elemental magnitude » mod crafted via the Breach tree (contaminating).
- Gloves & Boots: resistances and attributes on gloves; movement speed + ES + cooldown recovery on boots (Uthred’s Sideris rune to unlock chronomancer mods).
- Belt — Stalking belt: a Breach base that can hold a rune/idol. Top priority is minion life and minion Area of Effect. A Mageblood is an excellent alternative if you can afford it.
- Focus: high Energy Shield, resistances, intelligence, and +2 to all minion skills (a difficult item to craft, lots of RNG).
- Charms: shock and poison immunity to protect your Energy Shield.
- Key unique jewels:
jewel unique Heroic Tragedy + Line of Veridian Deeds (Blackslide Training: 1% ES per 2 Strength),
jewel unique From Nothing (companions gain bonus Chaos damage), and
jewel unique Heart of the Well (cooldown recovery + ES from body armour).
Gameplay Tips
- Bind weapon swap to a single key: spam it to activate/deactivate the companion and instantly reposition it on you throughout the entire map.
- Stack cooldown recovery everywhere: rings, boots, focus, soul core in the helmet, and the
jewel unique Heart of the Well jewel — that’s what makes
Blink nearly instant. - Single-target zombie routine: generate cold infusions with
Frost Bomb, spend them with
Frost Darts (
Unleash) to generate power charges, then summon your overcharged
Raise Zombie before a boss. - Drop Enfeeble on the ground before a boss or in a dangerous ritual, then stay inside it: everything charging at you is weakened.
- Farm the right elephant first: don’t push the character hard without a rare companion that has Increased Area of Effect — it’s the mod that makes the build enjoyable to play.
The Teleport Elephant Combo: Infernal Legion + Weapon Swap
The entire build revolves around a unique interaction. The companion (Companion:
Elephant Tortoise) is supported by Infernal Legion, which creates a permanent blaze around it whose power scales with its maximum life. That is why we stack as much minion life as possible: every point of the elephant’s life translates directly into ignite damage.
The genius of Oscrix’s version is to disable the companion on one weapon set and keep it active on the other. Since weapon swap is bound to a single key, a simple press makes the companion vanish… only to reappear immediately right beside you. You effectively teleport it in a loop into the heart of monster packs, which solves the main weakness of companion builds: their inability to position correctly. With a good Area of Effect, clear becomes nearly instant.
The Lich Ascendancy: 20% of Damage Not Taken
The build’s main defensive strength comes from the Lich ascendancy and the Solstice Form +
notable Eternal Life combo. Solstice Form causes 10% of damage taken to bypass your Energy Shield and hit your life directly — which would normally be dangerous. But
notable Eternal Life prevents your life from changing: those 10% of damage are simply never applied.
Adding the 5% from the Heavy Buffer node on the tree and 5% from a Stone Golem, you reach 20% of all damage taken purely nullified. The ascendancy’s motto boils down to: « you don’t take a portion of the damage you take. » Combined with a large Energy Shield pool and critical strike reduction, this makes for a character built for Hardcore.
Catching the Right Elephant
The ideal companion is a rare Elephant Tortoise carrying the Increased Area of Effect mod (+100% area of effect — equivalent to more than two Magnified Area gems). Without this mod, Oscrix considers the build « not fun to play, » as clear comfort drops dramatically.
Two methods to farm it: without maps, run the Cryer Village area in the Interludes looking for a rare elephant (create a new instance to reset the search). With maps, farm Ashen Reign Rangers, which naturally spawn elephants with more mods thanks to Atlas bonuses. Avoid killing anything during the search: these elephants have -30% fire resistance and die very quickly. Bonus mods to target after: Extra Fire, Extra Chaos, or « All Damage Ignites » combined with Extra Cold/Lightning.
Stacking Cooldown Recovery for Blink
The more cooldown recovery you stack, the more
Blink becomes a wild movement skill that far outpaces simply sprinting. In the video, the
Blink cooldown drops to around 1.3 s in maps once Khatal’s Rejuvenation’s bonus (+40% in maps) is factored in.
Look for cooldown recovery on rings, boots (Uthred’s Sideris rune to unlock chronomancy mods), the focus, as a soul core in the helmet, and most importantly on the
jewel unique Heart of the Well jewel, which can roll up to 18%. This is the scaling axis that makes mapping feel so responsive and enjoyable.
Zombies: Secondary Single-Target Damage
Alongside the companion, the build includes a nearly free
Raise Zombie setup that serves as single-target DPS. The principle:
Frost Bomb generates cold infusions, spent by
Frost Darts (with
Unleash) to generate power charges. Each charge summons three zombies, including one overcharged one.
These zombies hit extremely hard and apply a shock (thanks to
Lightning Attunement), which in turn scales the elephant’s damage. Oscrix notes they can, on their own, take down most Pinnacle bosses — even though they are not his primary damage axis. A completely optional setup that is devastatingly effective.
