On November 19, 2026, two products launch the same day: GTA 6 and the PlayStation Pulse headset, at $99.99. Sony markets GTA 6 with the line « plays best on PlayStation 5 », and the matching date is enough to tie the two together. Here is what the headset brings a player, and what the release date does not prove.
The PlayStation Pulse headset: price, date, regions
The announcement dates from September 15, on the PlayStation Blog. Pre-orders open on October 29, 2026, at 7 a.m. Pacific time on direct.playstation.com in the United States, and at 10 a.m. local time in the UK and several European countries. The release is set for November 19.

The price is $99.99 in the US, €99.99 in Europe, £89.99 in the UK and ¥15,980 in Japan, according to Altchar (Belmin Kopic, October 21) and GamingBible (Kate Harrold, October 23). The headset comes in white and in « Midnight Black ». Launch countries: the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and most of Europe, including France. Other countries will be announced later.

What the headset brings on paper
Sony highlights four things. None has been measured by an independent test so far.
- Planar magnetic drivers (a thin, flat diaphragm that in principle gives a cleaner sound with less distortion than a conventional driver), with 4 magnets per driver.
- PlayStation Link, Sony’s wireless connection (low latency, lossless sound claimed), through the supplied USB-C adapter. It works with the PS5, the PlayStation Portal, a PC and a Mac, and Bluetooth stays available alongside it.
- An integrated microphone with AI noise rejection.
- Earcups that rotate so the headset lies flat, a detail that Gagadget points out.
What no source we consulted gives: battery life, real microphone quality, weight. There is no verdict to draw on those points before the first tests.
Where it sits in the PlayStation range
GamingBible presents this headset as the successor to the 2020 Pulse 3D, and notes that planar drivers and PlayStation Link were so far reserved for the pricier Pulse Elite. The latter launched at about $150, according to Press Start. The PlayStation Pulse headset therefore takes both technologies for $99.99, about a third less.
Above it, the Pulse Edge arrives in early 2027, according to the official blog, with no price announced. It doubles the magnets (8 per driver) and adds active noise cancellation, a detachable boom microphone, a carrying case, a headphone jack and a balance control between game sound and voice chat. The base Pulse has none of these five options.

GTA 6: what the date does not prove
The official blog does not mention GTA 6. The link comes from the press. Gagadget writes that Sony has not said the timing was deliberate, « but it looks it », and states that Sony has a promotional deal with the game. The brand’s site displays « Plays Best On PlayStation 5 », even though the game will release on several platforms.
GamingBible, for its part, cites no measurement linking the headset to GTA 6: no dedicated audio profile, no game-specific feature. We found none either. The date is a selling point, not proof of performance. For the game itself, see our article on the latest GTA 6 trailer.
Who it is for, and who can wait
The obvious profile: the PS5 player with no headset, or still using the Pulse 3D or a wired model. For that player, €99.99 gives access to PlayStation Link and planar drivers without paying the price of a Pulse Elite. The PC or Mac player gets a wireless headset with a USB-C adapter, but nothing says it beats a PC headset at the same price.
Anyone who already owns a good headset has no reason to pre-order on October 29. The first tests will arrive after release, and the Pulse Edge, with its active noise cancellation, will be the real alternative for those aiming at the high end in early 2027. Our reading: waiting a few weeks for tests costs little, and no source we consulted says GTA 6 requires a specific headset.
