Season 2 Arena Gear: TBC Anniversary Cuts Honor Cost

On September 10, Blizzard lowered the honor cost of five Season 2 arena gear slots on The Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary. The official hotfix page (the fixes applied live, without a game update) is titled « October 1, 2026 » and still carries that line. Season 2 arena gear has therefore cost less honor for three weeks. The date of the entry matters as much as its content.

The hotfix text, word for word

Blizzard publishes its hotfixes on a single page that grows with every fix. The October 1 page holds two lines for The Burning Crusade Classic, dated two different days. The first, from September 10: « Arena Season 2 belts, bracers, boots, rings, and necklaces can now be purchased at a discounted honor cost from vendors in the Hall of Legends (Orgrimmar) and Champion’s Hall (Stormwind). »

Blizzard Entertainment, « Hotfixes: October 1, 2026 » page: the September 10 entry for The Burning Crusade Classic (the page’s other entries are hidden in this screenshot).

The text gives no amount. Blizzard writes « discounted honor cost », with no percentage and no price. Five slots of Season 2 arena gear are named: belts, bracers, boots, rings and necklaces. The pieces of the season’s main set do not appear in this line: their discount had been announced three weeks earlier.

Why the discount arrives after Season 3 began

Phase 2 launched on May 14, according to Blizzard Watch, along with arena Season 2. That season ended on August 17 at 10 p.m. local time in the Americas and on August 18 in Europe, per ExpCarry. Season 3 began the week of September 1.

On August 18, Wowhead announced the discount on the whole of Season 2: « players can now purchase Merciless Gladiator gear from Arena Vendors at a discount, and with no rating requirement ».

Wowhead, August 18, 2026, article by PopularTopular: Season 2 gear gets cheaper and needs no rating.

Unspent arena points were converted into honor when Season 3 started. ExpCarry cites a confirmation from Blizzard: one point for ten honor points. The September 10 hotfix completes the operation on the slots paid for in honor.

Blizzard has played this card before. On May 5, before Season 2, Warcraft Tavern noted a 60% discount on Season 1 arena and honor gear, with no rating requirement. Three discounts in five months: May 5, August 18, September 10. Each time, a season’s gear gets cheaper when the next one arrives. That reading comes from those three dates. Blizzard has given no explanation.

The old prices, and what nobody publishes

For amounts, the reference available dates from Season 1. BoostMatch recorded the honor costs of the discount window on May 7. Rings and necklace: about 6,300 each. Boots: 7,400. Bracers: 11,794. Belt: 17,850. These figures cover Season 1 pieces and predate the hotfix. They say nothing about the new prices.

I looked for the new prices of Season 2 arena gear on the official page, in the TBC hotfix thread on the Blizzard forum, on Blue Tracker and on Wowhead. None of them gives the prices. Read the price at the vendor in the Hall of Legends or Champion’s Hall before spending.

Which Season 2 arena gear to buy first with your honor

Honor slots require no arena rating, which makes them open to everyone. Conquest Capped and BoostMatch give the same order for these pieces: rings and necklace first, then bracers, then boots, the belt last. I keep it for the five slots the hotfix covers. If the discount is proportional to the price, which the text does not say, the belt saves the most honor in absolute terms.

These pieces do not catch up with Black Temple. They carry resilience, which Conquest Capped defines as « the stat that lowers how often and how hard you get crit ». A raider gets almost nothing from it. For the PvE tier, the Black Temple raid guide covers the bosses. The heavy spending of Phase 3 is counted in gold: our article on what costs the most outside Black Temple prices epic gems at over 1,000 gold each in the first week.

The Honorary Brewer Hand Stamp, a separate line

The second TBC line on the page is dated September 29: « Honorary Brewer Hand Stamp can now be purchased. » The Wowhead page for the item describes it this way: « Allows the purchase of Brewfest rams from a Ram Racing Apprentice. » It sells for 600 at Belbi Quikswitch, in Dun Morogh.

Phase 4: still no date

The October 1 hotfix page names neither Sunwell Plateau nor Phase 4. Our article on BlizzCon and the Sunwell Plateau date notes that the 2026 roadmap only announces an arrival « later in 2026 ». The seven WoW posts from BlizzCon contained no line on Burning Crusade Classic. The three gear discounts give no date either: the hotfix entries tie them to no schedule.
