Eleven days after reworking almost every racial ability in WoW Forever, Blizzard is revisiting them. On October 26, Community Manager Kaivax posted a final pass on five races: Human, Dwarf, Tauren, Orc and Skyborne. Several generic critical strike bonuses, added on October 15 to replace the weapon specializations, are removed or reduced.

The developers put each race’s identity ahead of perfect balance, even if some races end up slightly better at a given role. Where a role or class bonus had been swapped for a generic one, they are rolling it back. Weapon specializations are the exception and stay gone: Blizzard does not want players to judge future raid and dungeon loot by the weapon type their race “requires”.

These changes are announced, not live yet. On the evening of October 26, the beta client data read by Wowhead still showed the old values, so the tooltips in this article show the current state, before this pass. The racial abilities page lists the four abilities of every race in the current client.

Human

Balanced

Humans lose half of their critical strike bonus and double their Spirit bonus. Ruthless, which replaced Sword Specialization on October 15, drops from 2% to 1%. The Human Spirit rises to 10%. Human warriors, rogues and hunters lose out; priests and the other classes that rely on Spirit to recover mana come out ahead.

Going up

  • ▲The Human Spirit: Spirit increased by 10% (was 5%).Modified

Going down

  • ▼Ruthless: critical strike chance increased by 1% (was 2%).Modified

Dwarf race icon

Dwarf

Net buff

Dwarves trade a critical strike bonus for accuracy. Earth Fury, which raised the damage and healing bonus of critical strikes by 2%, is removed. Artisan’s Precision takes its place: 1% hit chance with spells and attacks. Until a character reaches the hit cap, that point is worth more than a bonus that only applies to critical strikes. Only Dwarf healers lose a little, since hit chance does nothing for healing.

Going up

  • ▲Artisan’s Precision: new racial, increases hit chance with spells and attacks by 1%.New

Going down

  • ▼Earth Fury: removed. It increased the critical strike bonus to damage and healing by 2%.

Tauren race icon

Tauren

Balanced

Tauren get the biggest speed increase of the patch and lose their only offensive bonus. Plainsrunning doubles: 2% movement speed for every 5 seconds spent running, up to 60%. Reaching the cap still takes 2 minutes 30 of running, and the effect shrinks as soon as you stop or take damage, so it mostly helps to cross a zone or reach a battleground objective. The 3% mounted bonus is gone. Endurance goes back to its Classic form: 5% Health and nothing else.

Going up

  • ▲Plainsrunning: 2% movement speed per stack (was 1%), for a maximum of 60% (was 30%).Modified

Going down

  • ▼Plainsrunning: no longer increases mounted speed (it added 3%).Modified
  • ▼Endurance: now only grants 5% Health. The 2% bonus to critical strike damage and healing is gone.Modified

Orc race icon

Orc

Balanced

Orcs get one of their Classic racial abilities back. Savage, the 1% critical strike chance added on October 15 in place of Axe Specialization, is removed. Command returns: Hunter and Warlock pets deal 5% more damage. Orc hunters and warlocks gain from it. Orc warriors, rogues, shamans and mages lose their critical strike point with nothing in return.

Going up

  • ▲Command: back. Hunter and Warlock pet damage increased by 5%.

Going down

  • ▼Savage: removed. It increased critical strike chance with all spells and abilities by 1%.

Skyborne race icon, a feather

Skyborne

Net nerf

Skyborne lose in combat and gain while exploring. Wind Blessed, shared by both variants, drops from 3% to 2% Haste. Their active racial abilities follow a new logic: cast anywhere, they now last only 15 seconds; cast at the right spot, a Ley Line for the High Order or an elemental convergence for the Windshapers, they leave a one-hour effect that persists through death. Read Leyline can no longer be used during a Druid’s Innervate, which replaces it.

Going up

  • ▲Read Leyline, High Order: used at a Ley Line, it also grants Attuned for 1 hour (was 15 minutes). Regeneration then goes back up to 100%, and the effect persists through death.Modified
  • ▲Skysight, Windshaper: used at an elemental convergence, it also grants Charged for 1 hour, worth 30% movement speed (was 10% for 15 minutes). The effect persists through death.Modified

Going down

  • ▼Wind Blessed: spellcasting, melee and ranged Haste increased by 2% (was 3%).Modified
  • ▼Read Leyline, High Order: Health and Mana regeneration increased by 50% for 15 seconds (was 100% for 30 seconds). Cannot be used during Innervate, which replaces it.Modified

Reworks and comfort

  • ◆Skysight, Windshaper: 15% movement speed for 15 seconds (was 10% for 30 seconds).Modified

Verdict on this passOctober 15 had replaced weapon bonuses with critical strike for almost everyone. October 26 removes it from Dwarves, Orcs and Tauren, and halves it for Humans. Each of these races keeps a bonus aimed at a role: Dwarven accuracy, Orc pets, Human Spirit, Tauren running. The Skyborne pay for it in combat.

No date has been given for the build that will apply these racial abilities changes. The official launch is still set for November 4, 2026. The other beta notes are gathered on the WoW Forever patch notes page.
