On November 4, everyone shows up at level 1, in the same spot, with the same map. Players who already know which quest to take, in what order and by which route pull ahead before the first evening is over. That is exactly the ground RestedXP WoW Forever covers, the paid leveling guide the publisher opened for orders in its September 14 announcement.
I haven’t launched it in game yet, so I won’t tell you about tests that don’t exist. What follows rests on the official page, the RestedXP roadmap and my experience as a longtime WoW player, high-level PvP included.
RestedXP WoW Forever: the addon that shows you the route
Everything runs through the RestedXP addon, which is free and interactive. Its Follow the Arrow system puts an arrow on screen that points where to go. The addon tracks your quests in real time, places waypoints on its own and calculates your experience per hour. No more alt-tabbing to read a guide in your browser.
According to RestedXP, levels 1 to 20 are free for everyone in the addon, and it already works on the WoW Forever beta. To install it, you download the addon then link your Battle.net account, the steps are detailed here. The guides are written by record-holding speedrunners.
What the Forever guide contains
The official Forever guide page offers two experiences. The Speedrun Guide gives routes tested from day 1: quest order, travel paths, training with the class trainer, hearthstone use, with elite and group quests, all in the open world. The Legacy Guide only applies on standard servers, and the upcoming Hardcore Legacy achievements are not included.

- Dungeon Leveling Guide, new: leveling is organized around dungeons, and you pick up the quests before going in.
- Class routes: they account for the new class/race combinations and recommend talents and Legacy Points.
- Open World Discovery, new: the guide prioritizes Forever’s new quests, zones and objectives over pure speed.
- Endgame: attunements (the prerequisites for entering a raid), dungeon keys and the Tier 0.5 quest chain. The September 14 announcement adds gear guides and raid preparation tools.
- Coming soon: an Upgrade Finder (a tool that looks for gear upgrades) optimized for the auction house, and a rebuilt Talent Builder with recommended talents during leveling.
For talents, the two tools don’t compete: the guide tells you what to take while leveling, our talent calculator lets you build and share the full tree.
Levels 35 to 60: Classic routes until the Forever ones land
The official roadmap has three stages. Stage 1, the Speedrun Guide, marked Work in Progress. Stage 2, Dungeon Leveling, marked Coming soon. Stage 3, Launch & Beyond: the Forever routes for levels 35 to 60 will come after the game’s release, for both Speedrun and dungeons. Until then, the Era guides (the original Classic version) cover 35 to 60. Discovery and Legacy are planned after launch, sooner if development moves faster.

On the publisher’s side, the official note is clear: the product is built alongside the game’s launch, it is not complete, and buying gives access to all updates. The beta, meanwhile, has been capped at level 30 since the October 1 patch. So you can’t check the routes beyond that for now, and nobody else can either.
Price, factions, languages and discount
Here is what RestedXP WoW Forever costs, in US dollars. With our link, the 10% discount applies automatically, and a two-faction purchase covers both Horde and Alliance, according to RestedXP.

On languages, RestedXP says the guide is available in French at launch, as well as in German, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese and English. For our French-speaking community, that is the point that interests me most, and I will check how good the French text is as soon as it ships.

Who it’s for, and who it’s less useful for
If you want to level fast, this is for you. A reroll to start, a raid guild or PvP group waiting for you at max level, several characters to level: a route already mapped out saves you hours, and the arrow spares you from hunting down every NPC by hand. For high-level PvP, every evening spent wandering between two quests is an evening without practice.
If you want to discover Forever’s new quests by reading every text, the offer is a weaker fit. Discovery mode will arrive after launch, and the Speedrun Guide is built to go straight to the point. In that case, you’re better off preparing your character with the Grimoire and our macros for all 9 classes, and exploring at your own pace.
Buying RestedXP WoW Forever now amounts to betting on the roadmap: you pay for a guide whose Forever-specific routes for levels 35 to 60 are still being built. Until then, the Classic routes guide you, with no gap. The bet is reasonable given access to updates, but it is a bet. If the installation blocks you, our guide to installing RestedXP on MoP Classic (in French) details the steps on CurseForge, and the official getting started page covers the rest. You’ll know in one evening whether the arrow suits you, before opening your wallet.
Test the twenty free levels during the beta, then decide.
