Build Overview
The Wolfman Druid Oracle is a melee build that freezes absolutely everything in its path. Created by Woolie, this build exploits the synergy between
Lunar Assault and
Shred to transform the Druid into a true freeze machine. In werewolf form, every melee attack triggers lunar beams that sweep the entire screen, creating gameplay that resembles a melee auto-bomber.
The mechanic is simple but deadly:
Lunar Assault applies massive freeze to enemies thanks to its disproportionate
Freeze buildup, then
Shred generates ice fragments by striking frozen targets. Each full use of
Shred produces 9 ice fragments spread across 3 clusters, dealing considerable single-target damage. But the true star of the build is
Lunar Blessing: a permanent buff that grants 79% additional cold damage and triggers moonbeams at 449% damage every 0.6 seconds across the entire screen.
The Oracle ascendancy brings colossal power through Entwined Realities which saves approximately 30 passive points, and Forced Outcome which guarantees a critical strike on every hit. Combined with
Herald of Ice and the Armour Explosion technique, the result is a build that wipes the screen in a single strike while remaining defensively solid thanks to permanent
Freeze and a hybrid life/energy shield system with Zealot’s Oath.
Build Strengths
- Exceptional clear speed:
Lunar Blessing +
Herald of Ice turn the build into a melee auto-bomber. A single strike is enough to trigger moonbeams across the entire screen, which freeze and chain-proc
Herald of Ice. - Universal
Freeze: The build literally freezes everything, including pinnacle bosses.
Lunar Assault has such a high
Freeze buildup (7.6x multiplier) that nothing resists it. This is a major defensive advantage since frozen enemies can no longer act. - Fluid and comfortable combo: Despite the combo gameplay (
Lunar Assault →
Shred), the rotation is extremely natural and fast. Woolie claims it is the most enjoyable combo gameplay he has tested in 600 hours of play. - Massive single-target damage: The ice fragments from
Shred combined with the moonbeams from
Lunar Blessing and guaranteed crits via Forced Outcome allow bosses to melt quickly. - Passive point savings: Entwined Realities from the Oracle saves approximately 30 passive points by allowing notable allocation at range via Keystones, offering enormous flexibility in the passive tree.
Build Weaknesses
- Significant investment: The optimised version shown by Woolie represents approximately 80 divines of investment. Weapon crafting is particularly costly and complex. However, budget variants exist on Mobalytics from the moment you enter maps.
Vulnerability while moving: Like all melee builds, fast movement in Breach or Delirium exposes you to deaths caused by movement lockout. Woolie counts 106 deaths in 74 hours, a good portion of which are movement-related.- Complex ES recovery: The hybrid life/energy shield system requires Mor Invictus + Zealot’s Oath to function optimally. Without this investment, ES recovery is significantly less efficient.

The weapon is by far the most important slot in this build. Woolie uses a crafted rare weapon with the following stats: gain damage as extra cold (or physical to maximize
Herald of Ice procs + Armour Break Explosion), fractured critical damage bonus, and +levels to skills. A dedicated crafting guide for this weapon is available on his channel.
- Weapon (Crafted Rare): Gain damage as extra cold/physical, +crit damage bonus, +5 to gem levels via
Essence. The most impactful slot in the build, with each +level granting approximately 5% more damage. - Body Armour (Mor Invictus): Core piece of the defensive setup. Provides flat life regeneration (essential with Zealot’s Oath), spirit bonus to sustain auras, and sockets for augments (chaos res, soul cores).
- Helmet (Pure Armour): With the Runic Helm notable, every 8 points of armour on the helmet grant +1 max ES. The mod « Armour Break applies to elemental damage » is crucial for elemental defence.
- Boots (Pure ES): Thanks to Iron Slippers, each point of ES on the boots grants 3 points of armour. 300 ES = 900 bonus armour. Also look for life regen and rarity.
- Gloves (Rare): +2 to skills, crit damage bonus, flat damage. A very competitive slot where rares generally outperform uniques such as the 50% immobilise gloves.
- Amulet (Rare): +3 to skills mandatory, spirit, resistances. The anoint goes on Overwhelming Strike (15% Critical Chance, 20% crit bonus) thanks to point savings via Entwined Realities.
- Rings (Rare): Flat damage, strength/intelligence for requirements, life, resistances, rarity.
- Belt:
Soul Tether (no downside) or
Headhunter for the ultimate luxury. - Jewels: Time Lost Emerald/Sapphire (large radius + crit dmg bonus on notables) and Heart of the Well (ES, crit, skill speed).
Gameplay Tips
- Basic rotation: Pounce into the pack →
Lunar Assault (
Freeze) → moonbeams +
Herald of Ice clear the entire screen. For bossing, add
Shred on the target
Rime for ice fragments. - Permanent
Lunar Blessing: Invest in cooldown recovery (support gem + Oracle passive tree) to maintain
Lunar Blessing permanently. This skill accounts for more than double your total damage.
Savage Fury trick: Disable the spirit reservation of
Savage Fury via the caret menu (small chevron) by unchecking slot 1 only. The buff remains active without reserving the 30 spirit — an essential trick for this build.- Pinnacle bossing: Replace Ancestral Call with
Freeze on
Lunar Assault for 50% more
Freeze buildup. This is crucial for freezing the most resistant bosses. - Rage management:
Eternal Rage constantly regenerates rage, meaning you never need to generate it through hits and you never lose rage naturally. Combined with
Lunar Blessing which consumes all rage to extend its duration, timing matters: let the rage fill up before reactivating
Lunar Blessing. - Recommended charms: Ignite immunity (top priority in Season 4),
Freeze immunity for the ES, and Fall of the Axe (anti-slow + onslaught) or Right of Passage if budget allows.
Lunar Blessing: the most powerful skill in the game
Woolie has no hesitation in calling
Lunar Blessing the most overtuned skill in the game, and the numbers back him up. This buff grants 79% additional cold damage (69% base at level 20, +1% per level beyond that, and the build reaches +10 gem levels). But the buff is not even the most impressive part.
The moonbeams are the true engine of the build. Every melee attack in werewolf form triggers a set of lunar beams that target the hit enemy plus 7 additional enemies in an area that literally covers the entire screen. These beams deal 449% damage with a cooldown of only 0.6 seconds. And the buff is permanent thanks to cooldown recovery investment.
Most devastating of all: moonbeams can freeze enemies, which triggers
Herald of Ice, creating chain reactions that clear the entire screen in a single attack. This is what transforms the build into a true melee auto-bomber.
The Oracle ascendancy and Entwined Realities
The Oracle is Woolie’s favourite ascendancy in all of Path of Exile, and Entwined Realities is the main reason. This node allows allocating passive skills at a distance around each Keystone without needing to connect them to the tree. In practice, this saves around 30 passive points.
The build leverages 4 Keystones:
Blood Magic (no longer needs mana), Zealot’s Oath (life regen applied to ES),
Ancestral Bond (access to Dimensional Weak Spot, Dangerous Blossom and Storm Charge without connecting them) and
Mind Over Matter (access to
Arcane Surge and its synergy with regeneration). Each of these Keystones is taken not for its primary effect, but for the notables accessible within its radius via Entwined Realities.
The other flagship Oracle node is Forced Outcome (Inevitable Critical Hits): every hit is a guaranteed critical strike. The mechanic rerolls the crit until it succeeds, but each reroll reduces the bonus by 30%. Woolie recommends aiming for around 25% Critical Chance and 400–500% crit damage bonus for an optimal ratio.
The
Herald of Ice + Armour Break Explosion technique
The build uses a special technique with
Herald of Ice that multiplies clear speed. Three support gems enable this combo: Armour Break 3 (to break armour), Rek Smelting (to accumulate enough Armour Break despite low physical damage), and Armour Break Explosion (the payoff).
When an enemy’s armour is broken, Armour Break Explosion triggers an explosion dealing 30% of attack damage by default. Thanks to the many sources of « damage gained as extra cold » (
Lunar Blessing 79%, Ice Bite 30%, Butthair’s Vengeance, passives), this explosion deals enough cold damage to freeze other enemies, which triggers
Herald of Ice again, creating devastating chains of explosions.
The notable Dangerous Blossom (accessible via
Ancestral Bond + Entwined Realities) is crucial for this technique. Woolie also mentions that crafting a weapon with « gain damage as extra physical » (via Perfect
Essence of Abrasion) further improves these proc chains.
Rage management and
Eternal Rage
Rage is a central element of the build because
Lunar Blessing consumes all rage to extend its duration and grants 1% more damage per rage stack. With a maximum of 69 rage (including +21 from the hidden cluster Anger Management), keeping rage at maximum is essential.
Eternal Rage, a new spirit gem added in Season 4, completely solves this problem. It constantly regenerates rage, meaning not only that you never need to generate it through hits, but also that you never lose rage naturally. The downside of Anger Management (200% faster start of rage loss) becomes entirely harmless.
The ideal cycle is: accumulate rage to maximum → activate
Lunar Blessing (consumes all rage for duration + damage bonus) →
Eternal Rage regenerates rage during the buff duration → renew. With invested cooldown recovery, this cycle is permanent.
Hybrid defences and ES recovery
The build uses a hybrid defensive system of life + energy shield with armour. Permanent
Freeze is the first line of defence: a frozen enemy cannot attack. Beyond that, the Mor Invictus + Zealot’s Oath system provides constant and reliable ES recovery.
Zealot’s Oath redirects all excess life regeneration to the energy shield. The advantage over natural ES recharge is that this regeneration is never interrupted by incoming damage, which is crucial for a melee build that constantly takes small hits. Woolie estimates his total regen at around 350 per second under ideal conditions, not counting leech.
The build obtains
Arcane Surge via a passive node (5% chance on crit, permanent uptime) which grants 20% more life regeneration rate, amplified to 28% by the increased effect node. This multiplicative bonus applies to all increased regen sources in the build, creating a powerful synergy with Zealot’s Oath and
Blood Magic.
