Build Overview
This Zero Duration Ember Fusillade Titan by jungroan is probably the smoothest and most enjoyable build in Path of Exile 2. The concept revolves around Overreach reaching 100% reduced skill effect duration through the unique sceptre Palm of the Dreamer combined with Titan skill tree nodes.
At zero duration, Time of Need triggers every 0.6 seconds, providing a recovery of 15,000 life per second. This recovery is not standard regeneration but an instantaneous « recovers, » which means it completely bypasses the map modifier « reduced recovery rate. » The build can face-tank virtually anything.
Ember Fusillade also becomes much more pleasant to play since you can hold the button down without worrying about hover duration. The build also uses a second Ember Fusillade triggered via Cast on Critical to maximize boss damage.
Build Strengths
- Insane recovery: 15,000 life/sec through Time of Need ticking every 0.6s
- Ailment immunity: Time of Need cleanses elemental ailments every tick (~15 times per second)
- Curse immunity: Curses are removed instantly before they can even take effect
- Ignores map mods: Multi-projectiles, crit, reduced recovery rate… nothing impacts the build
- Smooth playstyle: One-button build with explode clear thanks to Palm of the Dreamer
- Full chaos conversion: Enemy elemental resistances have zero impact
Build Weaknesses
- Shade Walker: Abyss monsters with this modifier disable all recovery – this is the build’s true weakness
- High cost: Palm of the Dreamer costs between 60 and 70 divines – this is not a budget build
- Not the strongest: For the level of investment, other builds deal more raw damage
Gem Setup by Stage
This build features 1 progression stage from leveling to the final setup. Select a stage to view the corresponding gem setup.
Default
13 skills • 50 gemmesRecommended Equipment
- Sceptre: Palm of the Dreamer (MANDATORY) – provides the reduced skill effect duration needed to reach 100%
- Helmet: Veil of the Night – zero resistance setup, synergizes perfectly with The Brass Dome
- Shield: Rathpith Globe – insane damage, crit chance and ailment magnitude
- Body Armour: The Brass Dome – 26k armour, immunity to Critical Strikes, the -max res penalty has no impact on the build (zero res)
- Belt: Headhunter – essential in softcore trade at this budget level
- Soul Cores: Life cost efficiency (x2), movement speed, chaos res, extra Spirit
- Gear suffixes: « Armour applies to elemental damage » – very important for mitigating large hits
Unique Jewels
- From Nothing Diamond: 8% cast speed + access to Spaghettification and Event Horizon – perfect for a chaos build
- Prism of Belief Diamond: +3 levels to Ember Fusillade for extra damage
- Undying Hate: Grants the Petrified Blood keystone – roughly 20% tankier against hits
Gameplay Tips
- Mapping: Hold down Ember Fusillade and move forward – the build is one-button with explode clear
- Boss Rotation: Despair -> Thunderstorm (applies Drench) -> Firestorm (applies Wither) -> Orb of Storms on left-click (applies massive Shock ~68%)
- Weapon Sets: Set 1 = reduced duration (Time of Need, Ember), Set 2 = increased duration (Firestorm, Thunderstorm, curses)
- Defensive: Blasphemy + Enfeeble rather than Temporal Chains – the multi-mitigation is already excellent, one-shots are the real concern
- Wolf Pack: Provides ~10-15% additional mitigation + blind + culling strike
- Shade Walker: If you see this mod in Abyss, consider skipping or logging out – it is the only real danger
The Zero Duration Mechanic
The goal of the build is to reach 100% reduced skill effect duration. The Titan Ascendancy has several nodes in its skill tree that provide this stat, but they alone are not enough to hit the cap.
That is where Palm of the Dreamer comes in – the unique sceptre that provides an additional amount of reduced skill effect duration. With this sceptre equipped and the tree nodes allocated, you can reach exactly 100%.
At zero duration, two major things happen. First, Time of Need triggers far more frequently – going from a normal tick rate to roughly 15 ticks per second. Second, Ember Fusillade can be held down indefinitely since there is no longer a hover duration blocking you.
Time of Need and Recovery
Time of Need is a Titan Ascendancy skill that recovers a fixed amount of life at regular intervals. In this build, it recovers roughly 980 life per tick. With 100% reduced skill effect duration, the time between each tick drops to 0.6 seconds thanks to the Compressed Duration support.
This means you recover approximately 15,000 life per second. But this is not standard regeneration – it is an instantaneous « recovers. » This distinction is crucial because it lets you ignore the map modifier « reduced recovery rate, » which only affects regeneration and leech.
Time of Need also cleanses elemental ailments every tick. At 15 ticks per second, you are effectively immune to ignite, Freeze, and shock. Curses are also removed instantly – when a curse ground appears, it is cleansed before it can even take effect.
Zero Resistance Setup
This build uses an unconventional approach: zero elemental resistances. Veil of the Night is a unique helmet that reduces all your elemental resistances to zero, but in exchange grants immunity to resistance reduction.
Why accept zero resistances? Because the build does not rely on resistances for survival at all. The Brass Dome provides 26,000 armour and immunity to Critical Strikes. The « -max res » penalty from The Brass Dome has zero impact since you are already at zero.
Rathpith Globe completes this setup by offering massive damage, crit chance, and ailment magnitude. It is an offensive shield that synergizes perfectly with the build’s full chaos conversion via Xoph’s Pyre.
Weapon Set Management
The build intelligently uses both weapon sets to manage skill duration. On weapon set 1, you place the skills that benefit from reduced duration: primarily Time of Need and Ember Fusillade.
On weapon set 2, you place the utility skills that need duration: Firestorm, Thunderstorm, Despair, Blasphemy with Enfeeble, and Wolf Pack. These skills use « increased duration » support gems to counteract the global reduced duration.
Before a boss fight, swap to set 2 to apply your debuffs (Despair, Thunderstorm, Firestorm), then switch back to set 1 to spam Ember Fusillade. This rotation maximizes damage output while taking full advantage of the insane recovery from Time of Need.
