Build Overview

The Poisonburst Pathfinder by Perra Gaming is the most powerful Ranger build of Season 0.4. This build maximizes the poison mechanic, combining Poisonburst Arrow for clearing and Toxic Growth for boss kills. The Pathfinder Ascendancy was buffed this season, making this build even stronger than before.

The real magic comes from an ingenious Herald chaining system. By combining Herald of Blood with Bursting Plague, we create a loop that blows up the entire screen. Herald of Blood applies poison via Poison III, triggering Bursting Plague, which in turn applies bleed, which re-triggers Herald of Blood. The result? Everything dies.

Unlike many endgame builds, this one doesn’t require ultra-expensive items to function. You can play it from leveling and scale it all the way to ultra-endgame. The only truly game-changing item is Plaguefinger, gloves that allow elemental damage modifiers to scale your poison.

Build Strengths

  • Absurd poison damage: The scaling is ridiculous, pinnacle bosses melt in seconds
  • One-button mapping: Poisonburst Arrow + Herald chaining = the entire screen explodes
  • AFK Bossing: Mirage Archer can finish bosses while you stay in a corner
  • Buffed this season: The Pathfinder Ascendancy was strengthened while other top builds got nerfed
  • Flexible budget: Playable without expensive items, scales to ultra-endgame
  • No spirit rolls required: The setup is designed to save money on gear

Build Weaknesses

  • Requires an Unset Ring: The build uses 10 skills, you need a ring with an extra socket
  • Bow dependency: The bow is the most important item, you need to invest heavily in it
  • Mana management: Without Mana Leech or mana on kill, mapping can be frustrating

Gem Setup by Stage

This build offers 3 progression stages from leveling to the final build. Select a stage to view the corresponding gem setup.

⚔️ Endgame 1

Starter

10 skills • 49 gems

Ultra Endgame

10 skills • 49 gems

Recommended Equipment

  • Gloves: Plaguefinger – The game-changing item that allows using elemental damage for poison scaling (doubles/triples damage)
  • Bow: Prioritize flat physical damage max, then extra arrows and crit chance. Attack speed or onslaught as bonus. Extra arrows rune if on a budget
  • Quiver: Projectile skill ranks as priority, then flat damage and crit
  • Helmet: Energy Shield mandatory (synergies with the passive tree)
  • Body Armour: Evasion mandatory (synergies with the passive tree). Hybrid evasion/ES works too
  • Boots: Movement speed as priority, then evasion/ES and resistances
  • Amulet: Skill ranks as priority, then resistances
  • Rings: Flat damage, resistances. One Unset Ring mandatory for the 10th skill
  • Belt: Ingenuity Belt for damage, or defensive. Headhunter in ultra-endgame
  • Anointed: Subtifuge Mask mandatory (otherwise modify the passive tree)
  • Mandatory stats: Mana leech somewhere (bossing), high dexterity roll

Gameplay Tips

  • Mapping: Sprint → Poisonburst Arrow → Sprint → Repeat. Truly a one-button build. Pathfinder prevents stun during sprint, take advantage of it
  • Tough Elites: Throw some Toxic Growths and detonate them with Poisonburst Arrow
  • Weapon Sets: Set 1 for mapping (Wind Dancer), Set 2 for bossing (Mirage Archer). Saves spirit
  • Boss Rotation: Place 4 Vine Arrows + 14 Toxic GrowthsDespair → Evade to spawn Mirage ArcherGas Arrow to detonate the Toxic Growths
  • AFK Mode: Let Mirage Archer finish the boss while you stay safe. Otherwise spam Toxic Growth for more DPS
  • Mana: Use a jewel with mana on kill for mapping. For bossing, mana leech on gear is mandatory

How Herald Chaining Works

The Herald chaining system is the core of this build. It’s what allows clearing entire screens with a single arrow. Here’s how it works:

We use Herald of Blood with Poison III. This means Herald of Blood applies poison. Then we add Bursting Plague to Herald of Blood. Bursting Plague triggers when we poison an enemy, and with the Bleed I support, it applies bleed.

And that’s where the magic happens: when an enemy bleeds, Herald of Blood triggers. We have a loop: Herald of Blood poisons → Bursting Plague bleeds → Herald of Blood re-triggers → etc. Combined with Herald of Plague which spreads our most powerful poisons, the entire screen explodes in a cascade.

The Three Build Versions

The Mobalytics planner offers three versions of the build, each suited to a different progression level:

  • Leveling Version: Usable from the campaign with basic gems. Fewer active skills but the core already works
  • Starter Version: The complete setup with 10 skills. Requires an Unset Ring and some investment
  • Ultra Endgame Version: Near best-in-slot with optimized gems. This is where the damage becomes absurd

Perra Gaming’s tip: don’t copy the items one-to-one in the trade. Viewers watching the video snatch identical items quickly. Change a few stats and focus on the priorities mentioned above.

The Passive Tree and Jewels

  • Priority Ascendancy: Overwhelming Toxicity first (almost doubles damage). Then Relentless Pursuit (no slow) and Running Assault (no stun while sprinting). Finally, Pathseker or Sustainable Practices depending on your needs
  • Yellow Jewels: Poison magnitude and duration as priority, then attack damage or attack speed
  • Heart of the Well Diamond: Look for « gain as extra damage ». If too expensive, use a yellow jewel
  • Against the Darkness Time-Lost Diamond: Same thing, « gain as extra damage ». Otherwise a Time Lost Emerald works
  • Mana on kill: A jewel with mana on kill is almost mandatory for mapping comfort

The Beastial’s Skin defensive node doubles your armor evasion, which is huge for survival.

Poison Scaling with Plaguefinger

Normally, poison only scales with physical and chaos damage. This is a huge limitation because you can’t use elemental damage modifiers.

The Plaguefinger gloves change everything. With these gloves, you can now use ALL elemental damage modifiers to scale your poison. This means fire, cold, and lightning bonuses on gear add to poison damage.

The result? Damage doubles or triples easily. And since Poisonburst Arrow already has a 100% chance to apply poison, the low percentage from Plaguefinger isn’t an issue.

This isn’t a mandatory item to start, but it’s the first major upgrade to aim for. When you equip it, you’ll feel the difference immediately.
