Fury-Protection Warrior PvE Build (Hybrid) — WoW Forever Talents & Guide

Undead warrior charging with a raised axe behind a round shield in front of a ruined fortress

Experimental hybrid. MythicSim simulates it with 31 points in Fury and 20 points in Protection, race Undead, and ranks it among the tanks.

A tank that keeps its Fury strikes

The Protection Warrior holds the line with a shield. Fury-Protection keeps that shield and Shield Specialization, then takes its attack talents from Fury: Bloodthirst, Death Wish and Flurry. The simulator’s rotation switches to Berserker Stance for the end of the fight.

Damage, opener and rotation of Fury-Protection

Melee (23.5% of the damage), Revenge (17.3%) and Execute (14.7%) weigh the most in the simulation.

Before the fight the character uses Bloodrage (10 s before), Battle Shout (3.5 s before), Battle Stance (3 s before), Retaliation (2 s before) and Defensive Stance (1 s before). The simulator’s priority list starts with Battle Shout, Death Wish, Berserker Stance and Execute; the full list, with the condition of each line, is in the Rotation block below.

On the talent side, the build takes Cruelty, Unbridled Wrath, Enrage and Flurry to maximum rank in Fury, then Shield Specialization, Improved Revenge, Improved Thunder Clap and Defiance to maximum rank in Protection.

Damage breakdown

Each line is an ability: the damage per second it adds, its share of the total, how many times it is cast in a fight, the damage of an average cast and, for a lasting effect, the part of the fight where it is active.

Buffs and debuffs

The percentages are coverage times, meaning the share of the fight during which the effect is active: they are not proc chances. “91.0×” is the average number of applications in a fight.

What the Fury-Protection simulation does not tell

MythicSim’s tank ranking rests on the threat generated on a single target, in the gear described by the credit line. On its own it does not measure how the character takes a boss’s damage, and it covers neither a multi-boss raid nor PvP. Its simulation engine is not the game.
